Exclusive: Tig Notaro to host the 26th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in L.A.

Tig Notaro has been on a campaign to host next year’s Oscars, and now she’ll get to prove how great she’d be in a similar gig. GLAAD has announced the out comic will host the 26th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton on March 21, 2015.

Every year, GLAAD (the nation’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy organization) recognizes and honors media for their “fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBT community and the issues that affect their lives.” This year’s honorees includes Kerry Washington, whose Vanguard Award will be presented by Ellen DeGeneres at the L.A. ceremony.

Tig Notaro hosted the Closing Night Awards Ceremony at Sundance this past January, and also attended for the premiere of the documentary about her life, Tig. (She was also a producer on the project.) Her Showtime special, Knock Knock, It’s Tig Notaro, will air on April 17, and HBO has announced a stand-up special with the star set for sometime in the next year. She’s recently engaged to her partner Stephanie Allynne and is also working on a memoir that will publish in 2016.

Tickets are still available for the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles and their New York ceremony on May 9 at the Waldorf Astoria. You can follow GLAAD for more updates on presenters and attendees on their website or Twitter.
