“Pen & Ink” celebrates tattoos, stories and a bunch of queer women

Wendy MacNaughton‘s original illustrations have been everywhere from The New York Times to NPR, but in her new book with Issac Fitzgerald, she’s sketching the work someone else has drawn on person’s body. Make that many people’s bodies. Pen & Ink tells the stories of artists, writers, musicians and other creative folk who have tattoos and allowed Wendy and Isaac to include them in their book. These tattoos range from a singular piece to a full-on sleeve, to shared symbols with a friend or partner.

Wendy, who is a lesbian herself, included many LGBT people in Pen & Ink and allowed us to share some of the queer women’s pieces from the book, which is available from Bloomsbury now.

Visit Pen & Ink‘s Tumblr to submit your own tattoo story.
