Heather Matarazzo Officially Engaged to Carolyn Murphy
Actor Heather Matarazzo, 25, is officially engaged to musician Carolyn Murphy (picture above, left), Matarazzo's publicist announced today. Lisa Jammal told E! News that Matarazzo "is engaged to Carolyn Murphy. They’ve been together for over a year." It was "love at first sight," according to Jammal. They both proposed to each other, she said. “It was really cute. First Heather proposed to Carolyn, then Carolyn proposed to her." The two are very supportive of each other and totally in love, Jammal added. No date for the wedding has been announced. Matarazzo and Murphy at the 2008 Trevor Project Benefit Gala Matarazzo got her start as a tormented teen in the hit indie film Welcome to the Dollhouse (1995) and went on to star in mainstream movies such as The Princess Diaries (2001) and indie films including Saved! (2004) and Believe in Me (2006). She currently co-stars in Logo's lesbian comedy Exes & Ohs, and was also recently seen in The L Word and the popular horror movie Hostel: Part II (2007). Matarazzo came out publicly as a lesbian in 2004, when she was 21. In an interview with AfterEllen.com, Matarazzo recalled her first kiss with a girl as a teenager. "We were sitting in my pink room with pink carpeting," she said. "It was summer and we were sitting Indian-style across from each other and I was so incredibly nervous. And I thought, 'Yeah, I am definitely gay.'" In May, the California Supreme Court overturned the state's ban on same-sex marriage, prompting a flood of gay and lesbian couples to register to marry or announce their engagement — including celebrity couples Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi and George Takei and Brad Altman. Massachusetts is currently the only other state to allow same-sex marriage. On Thursday, the Bay State's governor officially signed legislation allowing out-of-state gay couples as well as residents to marry in Massachusetts. |

A lot of people start getting married around the age 25. I don't think it's a bad thing at all. If they are happy together and feel that they are mature enough to make a marriage work, then they should go for it.

its true lots of ppl do and many of those marriages last, but really.. what need is there to marry after only a year? (although i guess the whole visibility thing was the marriage-ban thing now is a reason).. but otherwise, i mean. im guessing most ppl marry thinking it'l last and it often doesn't so its foolish to marry after only a year, plus some ppl seem to do it to add something new to a relationship which is kinda a warning sign to me!! just my opinion!

nah, I get what you're saying. I am really excited that thy're gettting married, they're adorable, I wish them the best... but my dad and stepmom were ENGAGED for over a year; I can not even imagine them deciding to get MARRIED in so little time. Marriage is just one of those things that I think people should consider only after they've been through the fun, honeymoon phase of their relationship, which usually lasts about a year at least. It is supposed to last you a lifetime, so really, there's no need to rush it...
Maybe they're planning to have a very long engagement?

I met my girlfriend when we were both 21 and we knew immediately it was love and that we were going to be together forever. It has been nine years and we are still together, happier now and committed to continuing the promise that we made to each other. Outside of a certificate commemorating our love, we have lived as a married couple. Her parents and siblings are my in-laws, her nieces and nephews call me aunt, we make joint decisions on fiances, health, and so on. If you are already living like a married couple, why not get married. I would if it were legal in my state but it is not so there is no point right now. Sometimes you just know. Congrats to them (BTW I must say Carolyn is pretty hot).

I am absolutely thrilled for Heather!!!
I absolutely adore her as Dawn Weiner in Welcome To the Dollhouse- it is my favourite film, and I think that 'Weinerdog' is one of the most memorable, heartbreaking and funny characters ever to be captured on film.
I love Heather- she is incredibly talented, wonderfully 'offbeat' and very much her own person. Not to mention she is incredibly cute, intelligent and a lovely person....

Heather Matarazzo wasn't on Law and Order: SVU...that was Paulina Gerzon (yeah, I looked it up. It was driving me crazy!) But that episode is fantastic, even though watching that little girl say things like "c'mere, baby, you smell goood" is really creepy.
