Morning Brew – Miley Cyrus and Sky Ferreira get cozy at “Bangerz” party

Good morning!

It’s that time of year again, when The Independent puts out their Pink List, aka a who’s who of UK gays. Clare Balding comes in at number two, boxer Nicola Adams at number four, and Sue Perkins at 10. Check out the whole list and see if you agree with their choices.

AE writer Chloe attended a fundraiser for the new L.A. Lesbian Center and sent me this pic of her chatting with pro surfer Cori Schumacher. I think they were discussing the merits of Tevas. Shana Betz wrote and directed the new Anna Paquin film Free Ride, which is based on her mom’s real life. She talked with Women and Hollywood about the story if you want to know more.

Apparently Miley Cyrus was getting handsy with singer Sky Ferreira at a party for her new album Bangerz. It’s her party she can say what she wants, she can love who she wants, she can kiss who she wants!

Ellen DeGeneres is keeping busy with producing projects lately and yet she’s added another. She’ll be working on a comedy for NBC starring frequent Ellen Show guests Sophia Grace and Rosie.

Sandra Bernhard has joined the cast of Switched at Birth. The out comic will play “Teresa Lubarsky, a groovy art professor at a local college where Bay (Vanessa Marano) is taking classes.” Is anyone else hoping she’ll be just like Charlotte Birch?

“Maybe it’s your self-consciousness. The schoolgirl outfit you came in here with? Am I supposed to fall for that? I want real writers in this class. Fiction writers. You don’t write like that. You journal. You think because you change the circumstance and the settings, that you’re creating, but you’re not. And I’m not here to read the autobiography of Miss Jenny Schecter.”

If you liked the 2007 movie Butch Jamie, you’ll probably enjoy the follow-up Heterosexual Jill.

Apparently Roger Ebert found some Sapphic subtext in the 1954 Joan Crawford/Mercedes McCambridge film Johnny Guitar.

Soon we’ll be able to read Alice Walker‘s journal! Gathering Blossoms Under Fire will come out in 2017, so prepare to wait a while.
