Naya Rivera Cheers On Runners at NYC’s RUN 10 FEED 10

Yesterday morning at the second annual RUN 10 FEED 10 charity 10k in New York City, I was delighted to see Glee‘s Naya Rivera at the Start Line, cheering me (and a couple hundred others) on as we began the 6.2 mile race.

RUN 10 FEED 10 aims to tackle hunger and malnourishment in the United States, both of which are symptoms of our country’s pervasive socio-economic inequities. The event, co-sponsored by Women’s Health magazine and Lauren Bush‘s FEED projects, donates one meal for every “k” a person runs to those in need in local neighborhoods. So, on behalf of every 10k completed in yesterday’s race, 10 meals were donated to residents of NYC. Additional RUN 10 FEED 10 races are scheduled later this fall in Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, and other cities-check out the website for a city near you.

Looking amaze in a black RUN 10 FEED 10 hoodie and leather/pleather black tights, Naya both started the race and met with runners during the post-race festivities and handed out awards to the top finishers. Before blowing the horn, she spoke briefly about her involvement in the event and dedication to the cause of fighting hunger, but, she joked, in support of us runners, running a 10k was “more than [she] could do” at 7 a.m. (to which I say “no kidding,” as I’m still in recovery 24 hours after the fact).
