“Nurse Jackie” Season 3 trailer shows the harsh light of truth

When my Twitter friend and Scrabble buddy @andnowyoutellme sends me a link, I know two things for sure: It will be related to Eve Best and it will be awesome. So, I was only mildly surprised that she announced the Season 3 trailer for Nurse Jackie before Showtime did.

A quick refresher — Season 2 ended with Jackie’s husband Kevin (Dominic Fumusa) and BFF Dr. Eleanor O’Hara (Eve Best) staging an intervention after they discovered Jackie’s drug problem. We weren’t sure how Jackie would get past the confrontation without agreeing to rehab, but we knew she had no intention of going quietly.

Nurse Jackie creators and showrunners Liz Brixius and Linda Wallem talked about the intervention and the classic Jackie response that ended Season 2.

I’m not sure whom Jackie got to blow her (or how, exactly) but she somehow avoids a trip to Betty Ford and, although her relationships are in disrepair, she apparently picks up where she left off at the hospital.

Here’s the trailer.

Jaimie Alexander, whom you may recognize from Kyle XY and Watch Over Me, plays Kevin’s sister Tunie, who comes to stay with the Peytons for a while. The sides describe Tunie as “wild and immature,” so we don’t know if she will help Jackie or enable her.

We learned Wednesday that Coop’s lesbian moms will return this season, although Judith Light will replace Blythe Danner, whose scheduling conflicts kept her from reprising the role. No word yet if we’ll see a new female love interest for Dr. O’Hara, but I vote yes.

We’ll have more details as the March 28 premiere gets closer. Are you as excited as I am about the return of Nurse Jackie? Any predictions for the new season?
