Notes From The Road: Kaia Wilson and Jennifer O’Connor on tour (Day 2)

Boston: Wow. First of all, my hat is off to Aliza Shapiro and Truth Serum Productions, the awesome lady and her production company that put on our show last night at PA’s Lounge in Somerville. It was a real treat to be in such capable hands.

Because the show was 21 and over, Aliza put together a mini pre-show at a local playground for some kids that wanted to see us play. It was super sweet and fun and this was definitely my first time playing a jungle gym.

Aliza even shot some some video of our outdoor show. Check out Kaia (with me singing along) on “Freewheel.”

And me with Kaia singing and playing guitar on “The Church and The River.”

The proper show was equally as awesome. After a nice dinner (Thai food) we headed over to PA’s Lounge where Sister Spacemen were just starting to play. They are an awesome fuzzed out rock band made up of former members of The Operators and Mr. Airplane Man. The drummer was indeed wearing a “Total Gaylord” t-shirt.

Despite no monitors and sort of weird sound in general, Kaia and rocked on and had a great time. I debuted a new song called “Your Guitar” and played some oldies like “Here With Me”, “Always In Your Mind” and “Century Estates.”

Kaia played a great set, fielding many a request, telling funny tour stories about her mom, and grinning adorably while the ladies sang along at the top of their lungs. One lucky fan got to get up on stage and sang harmony (very nicely) with Kaia for show closer, “Sixteen.” It was very sweet. This show and day had so many good vibes.

Thanks so much, Boston! Easthampton tonight at The Flywheel. 8pm, be there!
