I'm really not quite sure what to make of this post. So... Since you do not find Tina as attractive as Bette that makes her insignificant?

What isn't possible in real life? :?:

This episode was very nice...sad :(

BUT I dont think they should have ended it with Alice and Lara kissing. I thought that was tacky. Sorry.

Ep. 311 "Last Dance" (Mar. 19)

I loved that they did the flashback of Dana's life. It was nice to see her so happy and heathly rather than the dark and sick Dana we have seen this season. It makes me want to go back and watch the first season again!! I

About Shane and Carmen, I don't know how I feel. I like them as a couple, but Carmen has just been so bitchy this season. It seems hard to believe that they could be the lasting couple of the season...

Tina just pisses me off so much  The nerve of her to be making out with him, in BETTE's house. It was like she wasn't even aware of the pain that everyone else was going through

Overall, I thought that it was a great episode... I just wish they were longer. This is the first time that I have actually watched them on TV. I don't like having to wait a week to see the next one. I am used to being able to watch them when I want to...

Ep. 311 "Last Dance" (Mar. 19)

I thought the kiss between Lara and Alice was perfect in a tragically beautiful sort of way. I definitely don't think it was tacky. It actually reminded me of Monster's Ball, when Halle Berry's character and Billy Bob Thornton's character had both suffered tremendous losses and it turned into this raw and and amazing demonstration of grief that just rang so true. The scene in Monster's Ball didn't seem to be about sex necessarily. It struck me with the resonation of crystal for some reason. So sad they just wanted the world to stop in it's tracks and not exist for a while.

I don't think the writers meant for it to seem like Lara and Alice are getting it on now that Dana is out of the way. I think that Alice and Lara both loved Dana so much and they realize how much Dana loved the other. Kissing each other was somehow the only thing that made sense. Lara and Alice are the only people in the whole world that knew what each other was feeling at that exact moment. They both lost the love of their lives at the same time. It seems more like they unconsciously understood how rare that moment was and shared it in their grief.

Ep. 311 "Last Dance" (Mar. 19)

I agree that the kiss between Lara and Alice must have been some sort of way of getting some part of Dana back, even if it was so completely wrong (well, in my mind). I liked this episode, but I feel like some episodes of this show have horrible writing that just disrupts that flow of itself, or rather, it has no flow at all. I felt that a lot of the lines in this episode, and in others, are so contrived or that they don't fit right in some way. In other episodes it's not so bad, but those episodes are few and far between.

Anyways, sorry about the schpiel. I really think that Bette should just move on from Tina and that they need to come to some sort of breakup because it's just exhausting seeing them like this in episode after episode. Tina has obviously moved on, and although Bette is still in love with her and it's understandable she wants to keep being with her, they've been breaking up for like 2 years now, and they just need to end things already. And with Max and Jenny - why did Max come along to the cabin? He's only known Dana for a little while. That was kind of annoying to me. I did like, however, having Dana back for a little bit more even if it was in flashbacks (which were great by the way). I'm loving Alice, too. I think she is doing some great acting - she's the only thing anchoring this show right now (in my opinion, at least).

Ep. 311 "Last Dance" (Mar. 19)

The episode was good, not great, but good. The good thing about Bette and Tina breaking up is that on season 4 Dana Delany should come back, Tina no longer wants Bette or she says. Can't want for next season when Tina realizes that because of her selfishness to punish Bette for having an affair, she realizes she has lost Bette and is stuck with boring Henry.

I don't think speculation counts as a spolier. Same goes for remarks based on "next week on the L Word" previews.

If I can go off-topic for a sec, I personally don't get the obsession with avoiding spoilers, a word I never even heard (much) until a couple years ago. I think if a movie or TV show is any good, it will be worth watching even if you know what's coming - if it isn't, having the surprise factor ruined won't matter, it was still a waste of time. Either way, you will decide to watch it or not based on your personal tastes, not on whether someone spilled the beans - a minor offense in my book. So let's keep a civil tongue in our collective heads, say what?

If it's on the previews that Showtime runs directly after the episode airs and is running during this week then it most certainly isn't a spoiler.

Actually, anything which pertains to an episode which has not aired is considered a spoiler. Not everyone chooses to view the previews for the next week. I know I do not because they give away far too much, IMO.

So, please do consider those as spoilers and also please do not curse out other members. Just PM a moderator and we'll edit it. It's better then copying the actual spoiler and, thus, having two posts to edit and even more the chance others will see it.

Thank you for that. That's exactly what I do - I don't watch the previews becasue I like to be surprised next week. And any discussion from previews should be placed in next episode's thread.

Ep. 311 "Last Dance" (Mar. 19)

Once again this eppy made me it never fails as of lately.

I enjoyed this episode the funeral was as to be expected dana's family even though they put up a front of acceptance to their daughters lifestyle they didn't fully support it. Many parents of gay children often do believe it's a phase that their kids are going through. Even though dana's mom should be a little more accepting seeing she was once attracted to her friend, she just didn't go further with her feelings because the rejection sent her deeper into the closet. I like howie, im actually hoping he kinda steps in next season as a regular.

The memorial at the waterfall was beautiful The flashbacks were great as the viewers got to see how the girls all met and connected. I hope they do a few more episodes in the future of flashbacks. I loved the acid trip with shane and her first meeting with alice just too cute of how dana was in the closet. But it showed me how much i will miss dana's presence next season. Her goofiness and dancing here i go again.

Bette and Tina i think the last nail in the coffin has been put in. Geez Tina is such a selfish character I don't even know how Bette put up with her she's so whinny and i can go on and on. She's showing no respect at all for bette and acting like a victim.

Enjoyed the family bond between bette, kit and angus. How many of you got the feeling when bette was talking that she was referring to Tina. Then i realised it was about dana when kit mentioned her name.

Desperate marriage proposal on shanes part. She's really grieving hard and only doing it for fear of losing Carmen. And Carmen's pity yes only because she's seeing shane so vulnerable and needs to reasure her she will be around. Not smart.

Helena and Dylan i wish we could have heard her. Damn, now i have to start reading lips. I'm sad to see her go but i still believe a door has been left open and dylan is probably gonna come riding back in. Pretty please IC.

Alice, love love love this character and leisha hailey. The kiss at the end hmmm, i didn't like it, but hey people grieve in different ways. I guess they needed to feel close to dana so they connected. I see them more as friends.

Did i mention i Alice.

Stay tuned,

It's funny, on sunday night (I didn't watch the L word until Monday) my sister and I were talking about this very thing. She's an attorney who is actually going to put it in the will that I'm not to be buried without my lesbian friends there, too. Oh, and no Mormon churches...I'm an ex. I just wouldn't want some of my friends being turned down for being lesbos if something happened to me.

Anyway, I loved this episode a lot too, all the Dana stories were very cute. The only thing that I had a problem with was the image in the waterfall. Dumb, dumb, dumb. I booed...which really didn't make the other bar patrons very stoked.

I hope the waterfall part wasn't a spoiler, I haven't posted here, just lurked for a while :)

Why don't Tina just move her ass out of the house already. It is Bette's house right? As for the writing, I find myself asking the same question to myself over and over again. What would Sarah Waters do with this show? :?:

Ep. 311 "Last Dance" (Mar. 19)

Absolutely fantastic episode. The best of the season. Had me crying, pissed off, laughing. Everything in this episode reminded me of the first season and the characters everyone fell in love with.

The flashbacks were a wonderful bitter-sweet addition. I really did not know what to expect from this episode and I am so pleased Dana was represented in the manner she was. Oh, and I loved the scene with her in the little ponytails. Hehe.

It was heartbreaking to see Alice and Lara together at the end, but it is understandable - That's what made it so much harder to watch. While Alice and Lara succumbed to their grief at the end, Tina just seemed off in her whole world like nothing had changed. Going out with Henry is one thing.. But making out? And in Bette's house! Oh, that pisses me off. Since when did Tina become such a selfish character?

Carmen and Shane... Eh. If they last as a couple it's going to shock me. I'm trying not to be my usual cynical self... But I just cannot figure out why Shane asked Carmen to marry her. Fear, love, loss, desperation... a combination of it all? Interesting parallel though.

Please go away Max. Why were you even there? Ungh.

Jenny, was wonderful as usual. While Jenny has always been my favorite character, I enjoy her taking a backseat this season. Last season was just so painful - I don't mind her settling more into the supportive background type of role.

I pretty much knew Dylan was going to tear up the check and apologize. I loved Helena's reaction to it and I really hope we don't see them back together. There are some things you can forgive and forget, but it was a conscious decision on Dylan's part to proceed with the lawsuit. Even if coerced into the actual plot, she still could have stopped it before this part. She [u:c7cffcde42]deserves[/u:c7cffcde42] to lose Helena.

...Hey, and she drove away in, an absolutely fabulous, black Volkswagen Beetle. So... Do we assume that the Tarot cards were wrong from episode 1?

Will we see Lara as a main character or will she leave the show for good? I like her much better then I did the 1st season, but there's no current cast member I'd really like to see her with.

My only gripe was the funeral. I can understand her parents shunning those who "forced Dana into the lesbian lifestyle" (as they see it), but not the pastor putting an outlandish amount of emphasis on how Dana had not found a man. Additionally, how unfulfilled her life was because she had not settled down. Too much.

Ready for my prediction for next season? No? Aw well...
Too bad!

Alice and Bette are going to get back together.
I came to that epiphany earlier today and I think this episode solidified it even more. I was thinking earlier... Why did we have glimpse back to Bette and Alice together at the opera? Both of them are, for the most part, single now. Hmm...
Thoughts?

I guess I sorta saw the kiss between Alice and Lara coming once they were hugging, but in my mind, I was still thinking, "no way that would happen," and then it did. I was hugely disappointed with this plot twist, and am sure that L & A felt the need to be comforted from their grief by sharing this passionate act with each other. While I don't like the way this plot line is going, I would be extremely happy and satisified if it means that Lara would become a regular on The L Word. I don' t care how they bring her in, just bring in Lauren Lee Smith!!! (Did any of you see Lie with Me? geez that was a wonderfully acted film!)

That's all the ranting I have for now, I'm sure I'll be doing more of it later on!

I don't know why, but I was kinda expecting something to happen between Lara and Alice although not that soon. Anyways, it didn't seem weird to me. I liked it actually, it seemed natural, like they were both needing it, like they were the only ones who were feeling exactly the same way. Anyways, I'm still mad and sad that Dana won't be in the show no more.

As someone who has lost someone they had romantic feelings for, I can tell you the last thing on my mind when I was grieving was sex. If someone with my sex drive doesn't what sex when they're grieving I find it doubtful that others (fictional or otherwise) would want it. This episode was kinda cheezy and unrealistic. But whateva

Yes it is... I have to say I was pleasantly surprised that a movie that was so focused on sex had quite a bit of heart (unlike a lot of psychoanalytical French movies about sex). And now we know she is a natural red head :P

^Yes, I cannot believe what an incredibly moving movie Lie With Me was, depicting emotions of the female protagonist without being too raunchy with the explicit sex scenes. I'm glad someone else liked this limited release film.

Ep 11

Sorry I'm late in posting, but I have to watch the eps online. Okay, overall, this was a great episode, and it made me very emotional. BIG Kudos to Kate (Shane)--she was freakin' awesome in this episode. I felt her pain and torment over Dana's death.

However, I have some bones to pick. Some things in this ep. were kind of out of line, and pissed me off.

1. At the funeral, Dana's father looked more like a man who was pissed because he was missing a day at the golf course, rather than a man who had just lost his daughter.

2. After the funeral when Bette sees Tina and her man laughing and kissing in the house. COME ON! This would have been MUCH more realistic had Bette seen him consoling Tina as she was crying. I mean, damn, did she forget that she just attended one of her best friends' funerals???

3. The entire sermon at the funeral was unbearable. I can sorta see it since her parents wrote it, and wanted Dana to be remembered as THEY wish she would have been. However, I'm more inclined to think that it was just a ploy from the writers so that Alice could annouce that Dana was gay (and promptly storm out) in front of the entire congregation. I just thought it was stupid, to be quite honest.

4. I thought the kiss btwn Lara and Alice was odd, completely out of place, and totally inappropriate. Just a way to make us wonder what (if anything) will happen with them next season.

Interesting prediction.
It would be nice to see them both together but I really don't think the writers will keep Tina straight next season. She will revert back to her inner gayness and probably end up back with Bette. Although I suppose they could keep Tina straight and still involve her in plotlines by having the whole custody battle thing. In that case, there may be hope on the horizon for an Alice/ Bette union but that doesn't really sound like the L-Word, does it ?

It breaks my heart to say it but I agree Helena is better off without Dylan. What she did was indefencible and an apology after the fact is too little too late. She had her chance and blew it... Silly girl.

I'm going to pair Helena off with Jenny for next season, simply because they're both my favourite characters and should therefore be together.

Overall, I liked this episiode but the ending with Alice and Lara was just so wrong ! I think when you're in such a state of grief, kissing is the LAST thing on your mind... Also, if I was Lara, I would be slightly peeved that they went ahead and held the memorial without even bothering to get in contact with me. Wrong, wrong, wrong... on so many levels.

I like how they all went together on a trip to remember their special moments with Dana.

I agree this was the best episode of the Season. It still had some incongruencies, but overall, I thought it was the best episode of Season 3. Definitely the closest thing I've seen to the material of Season 1 since...well...Season 1.

Initially, I was a little turned off by the lack of dialogue between Carmen and Shane about the proposal, but after giving it some thought, it makes sense. Ultimately, I think Shane was most impacted by the fact that Dana died alone and it really struck a cord with her about her own life...she didn't want to risk being alone. And the fact that she didn't have to explain that or that Carmen didn't say something like "it's your grief talking," just proved to me how deep their relationship is.

Oh and BTW, Dana on acid was HI-LAR-I-OUS.

That said, I still stand by my critiques of the show as a whole.
