[Please Read] About this folder...

This folder has become a folder of moved threads.  Guys, please take a moment to go through the list of forums which are already available and find the most appropriate one for your discussion.  This is an announcements-type folder, not music, advice, etc.

Since there have been so many moved threads in this forum, I am going to start locking and eventually deleting them rather than moving.  The shadowcopies of moved threads (this thread has been moved link) will be almost all this folder consists if we keep moving threads.

Ahem

Alright, enough with posting in this forum all of this off-topic stuff.  This folder is for what the title suggests: Posts which apply to the forums themselves, not discussions on other subjects.  At this point this folder is serving no purpose other then an abyss of locked and moved threads.

Not sure what else I can do to express this - As this thread addresses posting in this folder.  I'm not sure how all of the moved and locked threads do not lead posters to view this thread...

*Shrug* Unfortunately I think the problem is that people don't bother reading, or else they'd notice that topics about movies go in the Movie folder, etc.

FWIW, is there a general "post new thread" button somewhere (not within a subfolder) that may automatically put posts here? I'm off to investigate.

Indeed...

On the main forum page (with all the folders listed, but not clicked into), if you hit "Post new thread" then it is automatically put here. So the issue is with people feeling like they have something intelligent to say without bothering to go even one click into the forum to see if someone else has said it first. :-P Or something like that.

Perhaps there's a way for Headmaster Sarah to change this setting or require that they specify a folder first? Frankly, I'd rather see it removed entirely, as selecting a folder will only lead to duplicate threads in the various topics (Movies, etc) since it is, indeed, a reading/searching problem that is to blame.

Really, this folder doesn't serve much of a purpose.  Maybe make it so admins only can post?  Or just delete the folder.  :P

Agreed. There's already an

Agreed. There's already an Admin/Announcements section so this area is for... what exactly?

Can we lock/delete entire sections though or will that take the subcategories with it? (Intro, Rules, Admin, and AskAE are all subtopics of this useless section).

Once again folks, this is not your general post whatever you want folder.  I've moved another thread here this morning to the Society folder but I am longer going to leave shadow copy links here.  This is getting ridiculous.

Incase there is any confusion, I removed the links to moved threads located in this folder.

Once again, do not post in this folder or your post will likely be deleted.  Thanks.
