Since i dont live in the US, i have to get the episodes by..err,other means, so i got this ep ahead of time, and just finished watching it. And boy do i need to say something abt it!
I really don't want to spoil it for the people who haven't seen it, so i'll try not to say much, but if you want to stay totally spoiler free for the week, stop reading now :P
Ok first of all, let me just say that this is one stupidly enfuriating heart wrenching ep, and i say that because it's especially focused on the (sigh) possible (sigh) breakdown (not sure that's the right word) of a few of the relationships on the show... and i don't mean just the obvious one (aka Bette&Tina) but something else...sigh... i guess i can't say anything else without spoiling so i'll shut up.
However, i do (desperately) need to say:

I have a theory that they are being leaked by the producers to create a buzz - since so many people have been dissatisfied with the start of the season, they want to send a message, namely "don't give up yet".
(I was tempted to give it up myself, but saw the episodes and am happy to say that the series is on the move again.)

Yes, episodes 5 and 6 are very good. But it was to be expected, they have been building up to it gradually. All the people going on about how they were losing interest in season 3 are just being completely unrealistic. You have to let a storyline unfold, you can't just watch a few episodes and dismiss it because the pace isn't moving fast enough for you. Good things come to those who wait. :wink:
I think this season has been great from the start and it comes as no surprise that it's getting to the addictive stage. When you think about it, these episodes are really no different to the previous ones. They've just sprinkled in a few hot sex scenes and a few tear jerker moments.
Maybe the real reason you think they are so great is because of the thrill of getting to see them before the Americans for a change ! :wink:

...l liked this ep and the last ep, we get to see different sides to these characters which l think is a good thing, their emotions and how they handle it.

I just saw this episode and I got to say there is a lot of f*cking go on. Not even making love. But just straight f*cking. The last ten minutes of this episode my jaw was on the floor. Shane and Sheri. I'm just speechless. Rosanna Arquette is ballsy. It was insane.
Aside from the sex, the first 40 minutes were actually interesting. I was completely engaged. While I love Tina and Bette, they need to break up.
When Bette cheated, she appears to have irreparably damaged Tina's feelings for her. She broke Tina. It's all over. Please let them have a quick death. This storyline is torturous.
ETA: Tina sucks. That was low down not mentioning she had a WIFE.
Dana rocks my socks.
I really like Helena and Dylan. One thing that my friends and I were amused over was the fact that even though Helena is the more lesbian experienced of the two, Dylan was acting like an old pro and Helena seemed like a novice. It was weird. Rachel Shelley seemed overwhelmed as if she wasn't acting.
While the episode did have some surprises, I just found it to be okay. I can't help but look at the previews Showtime airs for next week... But then I regret it because they give away just about everything in the next episode.
Seriously, the only surprise in this episode was Shane going to whats-her-name's lodge at the end. I didn't need to watch the episode otherwise, last week's preview gave away everything else. Is it just me or does this annoy others too?
Of course, we pretty much know what's going to happen next week too. Yay.
It was okay. The vampire thing I just don't get. Then again, I don't get Jenny's attraction to Moira either. What is the connection there, really? They don't seem to connect at all emotionally or on any level at all.
But anyway, I guess that's the point though - To portray the spectrum and dynamics of relationships we just do not understand/share the interest in.
Helena has become the 'Dana' of season 1 and early season 2 for Alice to me. This leads me to believe that Dana will die after this season.
I'll admit the scenes with Dana were heart wrenching and I had trouble watching them. Anyone who critizes the acting in the show really needs to take a better look, IMO.
Shane going back to whatever-her-name-is was just nuts -- But knowing Shane's character I can understand it. Carmen is just being a bit too controlling and domineering now and it doesn't seem like Shane has dealt with that in a relationship before. So that's got to be totally freaky.
Did anyone make the connection with the first scene to the rest of the episode? I didn't get it, myself. I wonder if Fairfax really was that hickish 20 years ago. It's the land of organic foods and the dot.coms now.
Oh, and the Moira job interview was entirely unbelievable. They're dwelling way too much on stereotypes with her character, IMO.

Poor Dana, I absolutely feel heartbroken for her...I know that she's hurting and trying to deal, but I really don't like the fact that she's pushing Lara away, altho in this ep, they were a lot closer (i.e. her telling L about the whole situation, but not her friends, her reaching for L's arms and getting her to make love to her). I just hope that D's shutting pple out won't lead to her and Lara breaking up.
Bette and Tina, how many more obstacles/potential partners can there be between them? Seriously, I'm sure that they have already covered a large range of problems: cheating, money problems, who's the "breadwinner," mistrust, lesbian partners, male partners, lying, alcoholism, denial...what's left?
I still think that Moira is damn hot as a guy, and I'm glad that Jenny is so supportive of another's struggles, thus suggesting a role reversal and maturity on her part.
Carmen is starting to annoy me in this ep, but I normally really adore her. First she throws the temper tantrum with Moira. (when it's not even her place, I think?) then she pulls the whole high maintenance gf thing and storms off on Shane, then goes and flirts with some beefy men right in front of her. I mean, Shane's position and body language with Cherie did look pretty guilty when C wallked in, but at least be more understanding, and instead of driving her away (to Cherie) by flirting with studs, act mad but forgive Shane, cos they didn't acutallly do anything.
I honestly didn't think that Shane would go that route again, but it's the heartwrenching drama that sucks me back into the show time and time again.;)
Alice and the vampire girl, ROFL!!! F*ing hilarious stuff! I can't believe how nice Lara still is to Alice, after all she's done, what a great soup chef!;) I really hope she gets to become a regular.
Helena, I love how she's so nice, supportive, and submissive, a total 180 from the last season! That comment about Tina not having scars from lumpectomy, classic!:D

I felt so sad for Dana, when the doctor asked her if she wanted to call anyone, I was just hoping that she would have called Alice, that would have been great.
But I am very angry with Shane for going to Sherry. HELLO, she is a bitch Shane! But I also don't like the way Carmen's character is going. She is becoming really nasty and possesive.
I loved this episode! I think they're finally moving on with the characters a lot more. Plus, it was freaking hott - especially Alice's scenes with the vampire and SHane's with Rosanna Arquette. Yow!! This was a great episode. If only all of them were this good.

My thoughts exactly. As a Californian, I can tell you that this whole story line where people look at Moira as if she's the Elephant Woman is absurd. She wouldn't get a second glance from most people here, unless of course they were attracted to her. The interviewer would never have acted the way he did because (1) the company would have been sued; (2) he would have been fired; (3) his interest is in hiring a programmer, not a prom queen. This whole story line is about 40 years too late. If they wanted her character to draw these sorts of reactions, they should have covered her with tattoos and pierced her lips, because mostly she just looks friendly and kind of cute.

After all, it's just tv and not every single tv show protrays every single human down to a T. The writers, producers, etc., that's how they see or feel they are seen by others. On second viewing, I've decided that it's just an all around great episode, and yeah, the sex plays a part in that too ( I think that the showcase of nudity and sex almost brings the viewer back to the nouveau appeal of seeing it for the first time, in abundance, in season one.) It's been so long, it's almost foreign to us!;)
Did anyone else notice Shane's hair when everyone was gathered at the Planet? I think it's looked its best in a long time!
It's also refreshing to see the singles date (which didn't really happen in S2), whilst also focusing on the problems with the couples.

Ep. 305 "Lifeline" (Feb. 5)
I just saw this episode and I got to say there is a lot of f*cking go on. Not even making love. But just straight f*cking. The last ten minutes of this episode my jaw was on the floor. Shane and Sheri. I'm just speechless. Rosanna Arquette is ballsy. It was insane.
Aside from the sex, the first 40 minutes were actually interesting. I was completely engaged. While I love Tina and Bette, they need to break up.
When Bette cheated, she appears to have irreparably damaged Tina's feelings for her. She broke Tina. It's all over. Please let them have a quick death. This storyline is torturous.
ETA: Tina sucks. That was low down not mentioning she had a WIFE.
Dana rocks my socks.
I really like Helena and Dylan. One thing that my friends and I were amused over was the fact that even though Helena is the more lesbian experienced of the two, Dylan was acting like an old pro and Helena seemed like a novice. It was weird. Rachel Shelley seemed overwhelmed as if she wasn't acting.

While the episode did have some surprises, I just found it to be okay. I can't help but look at the previews Showtime airs for next week... But then I regret it because they give away just about everything in the next episode.
Seriously, the only surprise in this episode was Shane going to whats-her-name's lodge at the end. I didn't need to watch the episode otherwise, last week's preview gave away everything else. Is it just me or does this annoy others too?
Of course, we pretty much know what's going to happen next week too. Yay.
It was okay. The vampire thing I just don't get. Then again, I don't get Jenny's attraction to Moira either. What is the connection there, really? They don't seem to connect at all emotionally or on any level at all.
But anyway, I guess that's the point though - To portray the spectrum and dynamics of relationships we just do not understand/share the interest in.
Helena has become the 'Dana' of season 1 and early season 2 for Alice to me. This leads me to believe that Dana will die after this season.
I'll admit the scenes with Dana were heart wrenching and I had trouble watching them. Anyone who critizes the acting in the show really needs to take a better look, IMO.
Shane going back to whatever-her-name-is was just nuts -- But knowing Shane's character I can understand it. Carmen is just being a bit too controlling and domineering now and it doesn't seem like Shane has dealt with that in a relationship before. So that's got to be totally freaky.
Did anyone make the connection with the first scene to the rest of the episode? I didn't get it, myself. I wonder if Fairfax really was that hickish 20 years ago. It's the land of organic foods and the dot.coms now.
Oh, and the Moira job interview was entirely unbelievable. They're dwelling way too much on stereotypes with her character, IMO.

Okay, I think someone already asked this question, but how in the world did everyone get to see this episode already, before the "first" showing tonight??!?!?!?!??
Secondly, remember how I was complaining about the lack of sex in the previous episode? Well, they must have reserved all of the sex scenes from the last few eps and put them into this ep, cos,WOW!!! :o :omg:
I've got to say that this has got to be the best episode so far for S3, but I'm not sure if that's cos of all the sex, I'll have to rewatch it in order to finalize my opinion. :lol:
Poor Dana, I absolutely feel heartbroken for her...I know that she's hurting and trying to deal, but I really don't like the fact that she's pushing Lara away, altho in this ep, they were a lot closer (i.e. her telling L about the whole situation, but not her friends, her reaching for L's arms and getting her to make love to her). I just hope that D's shutting pple out won't lead to her and Lara breaking up.
Bette and Tina, how many more obstacles/potential partners can there be between them? Seriously, I'm sure that they have already covered a large range of problems: cheating, money problems, who's the "breadwinner," mistrust, lesbian partners, male partners, lying, alcoholism, denial...what's left?
I still think that Moira is damn hot as a guy, and I'm glad that Jenny is so supportive of another's struggles, thus suggesting a role reversal and maturity on her part.
Carmen is starting to annoy me in this ep, but I normally really adore her. First she throws the temper tantrum with Moira. (when it's not even her place, I think?) then she pulls the whole high maintenance gf thing and storms off on Shane, then goes and flirts with some beefy men right in front of her. I mean, Shane's position and body language with Cherie did look pretty guilty when C wallked in, but at least be more understanding, and instead of driving her away (to Cherie) by flirting with studs, act mad but forgive Shane, cos they didn't acutallly do anything.
I honestly didn't think that Shane would go that route again, but it's the heartwrenching drama that sucks me back into the show time and time again.;)
Alice and the vampire girl, ROFL!!! F*ing hilarious stuff! I can't believe how nice Lara still is to Alice, after all she's done, what a great soup chef!;) I really hope she gets to become a regular.
Helena, I love how she's so nice, supportive, and submissive, a total 180 from the last season! That comment about Tina not having scars from lumpectomy, classic!:D
I can't wait to see what happens next ep with Shane and Cherie!!

This week made me have a range of emotions.
I felt so sad for Dana, when the doctor asked her if she wanted to call anyone, I was just hoping that she would have called Alice, that would have been great.
But I am very angry with Shane for going to Sherry. HELLO, she is a bitch Shane! But I also don't like the way Carmen's character is going. She is becoming really nasty and possesive.
But I am very happy to see some action, finally!

I loved this episode! I think they're finally moving on with the characters a lot more. Plus, it was freaking hott - especially Alice's scenes with the vampire and SHane's with Rosanna Arquette. Yow!! This was a great episode. If only all of them were this good.

My thoughts exactly. As a Californian, I can tell you that this whole story line where people look at Moira as if she's the Elephant Woman is absurd. She wouldn't get a second glance from most people here, unless of course they were attracted to her. The interviewer would never have acted the way he did because (1) the company would have been sued; (2) he would have been fired; (3) his interest is in hiring a programmer, not a prom queen. This whole story line is about 40 years too late. If they wanted her character to draw these sorts of reactions, they should have covered her with tattoos and pierced her lips, because mostly she just looks friendly and kind of cute.

On second viewing, I've decided that it's just an all around great episode, and yeah, the sex plays a part in that too ( I think that the showcase of nudity and sex almost brings the viewer back to the nouveau appeal of seeing it for the first time, in abundance, in season one.) It's been so long, it's almost foreign to us!;)
Did anyone else notice Shane's hair when everyone was gathered at the Planet? I think it's looked its best in a long time!
It's also refreshing to see the singles date (which didn't really happen in S2), whilst also focusing on the problems with the couples.
