Strap on sex, please?Now the Season 2 is upon us, I've been thinking back on Season 1 and wondering why we never saw any strap on sex or any dildoes for that matter (the one exception being Lisa's dildo). I seem to recall a scene with Jenny and the trapeze artist in the background having sex in a manner that possibly could have suggested a strap on being involved. But that was a background shot, from Tim's perspective in the doorway. I love the sex they show, but how about a little more variety this time around, or is a strap on still too taboo to show? Most people I know would consider themselves virgins until they've had penetrative sex even if they've done everything else under the sun, and I think this idea of "only penetrative is real sex" is a social construct caused by thousands of years of the oppression of women and female sexuality. Conveniently, penetrative sex provides the perfect conditions for the male orgasm, but not necessarily the female orgasm. Over time people have completely overlooked the clitoris, and in many heterosexual couplings playing with the clit is seen as "foreplay". This has led to the overwhelmingly popular view that lesbian sex isn't proper sex (as Walter Bliss from Tipping the Velvet so eloquently put it, "I wouldn't use that word (fucking) to describe anything two women can do. you need a man for that, I think you'll find"), I mean how often have you heard someone ask "what exactly do lesbians do in bed?" With all this in mind, I'm very glad that the L word puts the emphasis on sex which doesn't involve a phallus. The fact that it presents oral sex and all that as real, valid sex is really important for changing peoples views. Sorry for the thesis, I gotta work on being more concise! Would also like to say that I have absolutely nothing against dildos or strap ons and all that and would totally use them myself (when I move out next year and dont have to worry about mum finding them I plan to stock up on dildos and sex toys and all that)! And I hate that I feel that way because Queer As Folk really goes down deep in terms of what they will show and the topics that are discussed (and they get really detailed when discussing sex). I hope that in the near future the writers will feel comfortable enough to showcase that aspect of Lesbian sexuality. Dana's tennis partner did refer to straps in one episode when he says " And we all know how these girls love their strap-ons!" And I agree with the person who talked about the trapeeze artist and Jenny; the position they were in does sugges that a strap-on possibly was in use, given the fact that both women's arms were around each other (am I wrong about that, it was a long time ago that I saw that episode?) and the amount of thrusting taking place. But then again, there was no visable strap around the waist of the trapeeze artist to be seen, so I dunno? And BTW, what is that woman's name and what show did she play on prior to this? I remember her from some WB sitcom, or it might have been one on NBC, but this is not the first time I've seen her on television (speaking about the trapeeze lady here). I did notice, though, that she is much hotter on TLW than on whatever show I remember seeing her on. Whatever I saw her on last, she had curly red hair, but the straight blond thing is really working for her, so was her fiery but cool White Party outfit with the open white button down and blue jeans! it probably is a little taboo. i think it is a little too freudian for some - the woman as lacking, sex isn't sex without a penis. i personally don't have a great deal of interest in seeing strap-ons but maybe now the show has a little more security they'll be more daring about the kind of sex they show.

This is quite possibly true, given all that I mentioned in my previous post. I actually like penetration, so I'm not at all opposed to seeing the use of a strap- on on TLW. I love it that my partner is able to hold my hands down while penetrating, although I also enjoy tribadism. There are many aspects of Lesbian sex. What I figure is that although women are also as visual as men and would enjoy such blatant sexuality, it's so much more hot when you are forced to imagine the way someone's hand is moving inside of some pants or panties. Well, I think it has more to do with the mechanics of having someone's hand in your panties. You can't simulate that. Their hand would have to actually be in your panties and touching your vagina if they stuck with the camera angle they used for the Bette and Candace scene. Also, when candance would put her hand in Bette's pants, it's obvious her hand slid down her leg and nowhere near her vagina.
