Feel like an embarrassment to mother

i recently went to the store with my mother. while we were waiting in line to checkout, one of her co-workers came up to us, said hi to her,  looked over at me and said to my mother, "you have a handsome son".  my mother just smiled.  i had to walk away because i was about to burst out laughing. i went back to my mother after the lady left and she gave me a not so thrilled look. all i could do was laugh. i told her it's not my fault the lady assumed i was a guy. i said it's to be expected and she needs to get use to it. sometimes i feel bad because my tomboyish look embarrasses my mom. every now and then she'll make a comment about me growing my hair out or dressing a little bit feminine. my looks don't bother my siblings or my father. they think it's funny when i get mistaken for a guy. have any of you ever felt like an embarrassment to your family members because of your boyish looks?
