There's a really weird place in Madrid called "666". It's a goth bar that transforms into a gay bar at midnight. Mostly guys, though, at least when I was there. At least in my experience (which isn't that much) Spanish gay bars tend to be pretty mixed (gay men and women, not exclusively lesbian or male bars).
Can help you out with the South (Málaga and Granada), but haven't really been around the "ambiente" in Madrid and Barcelona, sorry.
Over the centuries, mankind has tried many ways of combating the forces of evil... prayer, fasting, good works and so on. Up until Doom, no one seemed to have thought about the double-barrel shotgun. Terry Pratchett.
Yep, I was trying to think of the trees without seeing the forest, silly me ;)

Hi!! This is from Madrid. It´s true there´s a gay neighbourhood in Madrid called Chueca and it´s true there are no exclusives bars or clubs for gay men and women, however the ones at La Plaza de Chueca(there´s a subway stop right there)are basically for girls:TRUCO;SOHO;BOHEMIA and SCAPE but the best way to start the night and if you want to meet cute girls is going to FULANITADETAL which is pretty close to the Plaza de Chueca. http://www.fulanitadetal.com/fla/index.htm
Hi,
My partner and I plan on moving to Barcelona next year. We're in Florida now. I need to be closer to my family. I haven't been back to Barcelona in 30 years. Are you still living in Barcelona? Could I ask you some more questions about it?
I used to know some women in Barcelona but have lost track of all. Is there a place where we could meet some lesbians over 40? for friendship only.
I was in barcelona a few weeks ago, and I also found the staff at El Gato Negro, a small mixed gay boy/gay girl pub in the eixample by the University of Barcelona very helpful in directing me to the gay spots.
also, make it to parc guell., the best park ever. i'd even venture it's better than la sagrada familia, as a visitor destination, because the cathedral is not finished.
Agh. When I was in Barcelona I visited Parc Güell and La Sagrada Familia instead of all those interesting gay bars!
I did try out Matsuri, though. One of the best fusion restaurants ever!

chueca is a great neighborhood! i went there last oct and had a blast! one of personal favourites 'why not?' - a kinda dingy cabaret bar or sth of the kind!
Well if Freddy Mercury loved Barcelona enough to sing and record a song with the Opera Diva Maria Callas, then you know if MUST be the coolest city on the planet.
Found this cool gay site for Barcelona...http://www.adonishouse.com/
it is a GAY PENSION..or B&B as know in other places. Havent tried it but will next time.
http://www.barcelonaconnect.com/Nightlife/ FOR INFO on general nightlife, short term rentals, long term, jobs etc.
Here is a funny quote taken from the above site..lol..so true.
The Low down on the Low!! We don't mind straight people, as long as they act gay in public, Right? Well Barcelona has got it down to a tee. Gay clubs are packed with straight people acting gay; it´s bizarre and very confusing. Remember, prostitution is prominent in gay Spain so be careful, the gay clubs are a rainbow flag to the Spanish straight bulls.
Suprizingly enough, I'm travellin to Barcelona around the 4th of June with my (very straight) class and there is NO WAY I'm gonna miss out on the gay nightlife. Of course I'm aiming for places with a younger crowd.. I'm sure, though, I'm gonna have a great time :)

Hi. I will be in Barcelona from 1 to 4 november. I wish made friends with other lesbian or bisexual girls to have fun... Can you help me? Thanks! Kisses!

Barcelona
I'm from Barcelona, so I think I can help you.
My favourite lesbian bar is D-Mer, wish is a small bar with good looking girls and nice music.
Kiut Disco is quite similar but bigger.
Then there's a posh lesbian party 2 sundays each month at elephant called Next town girls.
Aire is a lesbian disco, a really crowded one, but as boys can get in too it's pretty mixed. Girs there are really young (16 or so).
Then there's lesfatales with indie dykes.
And then divina's wich is a cool disco too.
The gaybourhood in barcelona is called Gayxample but not all the cool bars are there.
When you get to spain you shoud look for a free magazine called shangay, there are all the gay and lesbian bars with maps.
If you need more specific information feel free to ask.

Me too~
I'm thinking of travelling to Spain as well some time around mid-May...but only for a week or so (2-3 days in Barcelona and 4-5 days in Madrid)...
Does anyone know any lesbian-friendly places to stay or hang out (to meet people) for a solo female traveller?
