Lasik Eye Surgery?

I was just wondering whether anyone here has undergone the procedure, as I am considering it. I've been wearing contacts for the last year and a half..but recently my right eye has become really painful and red..I'm tired of my really crap eye sight and the problems that come with contacts and glasses...so I am seriously considering putting lasik on a credit card and getting it taken care of! Thoughts? Advice? I'm a little scared of it!

not sure if this is helpful

#1 You need to check to make sure you are able to have it first of all, not everyone can have the procedure done. It depends on the severity of your perscription .. but I'm guessing if you are only using contacts your perscription can't be that bad so it would probably be doable.

#2 Just realize there is no guarantee. No one can guarantee you 100% that it will work or give you perfect vision. (It is a lot of money to spend with no guarantee .. that is the only reason I bring up this point). But it is highly highly likely that it would give you better vision than you have right now, even perfect vision.

That being said ... the procedure is relatively quick and easy.. it is understandable why people would be a little scared and freaked out but it is really nothing to fear :) I know plenty of people who have had it done and highly recommend it, are very happy with the results and claim it is well worth the investment. I do, however,  know one gentleman who had it done and is still required to wear glasses though.. but his eye sight was extremely limited before hand. (Generally the weaker your perscription and the better your eyes are to begin with .. the higher likelihood you will get closer to 20/20 vision).

I'd say if you have the money to do it then certainly look into it and get a consultation ... I know you mentioned credit cards .. just be aware that if it is going to cause money issues for you then you might want to reconsider as there is no 100% guarantee that it will give you perfect sight. Either way it never hurts to look into it :)

Thanks for your input =)

Thanks for your input =) Yeah I want to get a consultation. I just figure if its such a quick procedure then why not go for it if I can improve my vision somewhat and maybe only need glasses for reading. My vision is only bad for distance anyway. I don't think it's too expensive, at least nothing I couldn't handle paying off gradually.

Go for it

You should totally go for it. I had mine done and its great not having to wear glasses any more. The procedure is quick and painless, nothing to worry about :)

Hey

I had a similiar experience to SylverFox.

My eyes too were rejecting contacts and I hate wearing glasses. Had my lasik done in December and very very happy. :D

Lasik

I went for it few months after one of my eyes started rejecting the contacts and nothing seemed to change it's mind. For me it went perfect as for I guess more than 99% of the people. I have 20/20 vision right now and quite happy about it. My mom also went for it,but she did the PRK, and still went great. I probably would recommend the Lasik, unless you do some active sports, like boxing. The PRK seemed a little too painful in comparison to my procedure, but the eye heals better.

So my advice would be if you've decided to do it go for it. Of course there is a risk, but you could have repetitive procedures if it didn't do the work, and in my situation the clinic offered free second procedure if the first one didn't correct the eyesight entirely.

You also have to consider the financial side sometimes, because these things aren't cheap. I recall we paid something like $2000. But when I thought of all the contacts, solutions, glasses, eyedrops, antibiotics, eye exams, and finally they told me I wouldn't be able to wear contacts anymore unless I am willing to wear one or have one of my eyes in a shiny shiny red color, then the Lasik won. Yay Lasik:)
