Bad Girls v. The L WordI don't know which one I prefer more. They are both pretty 'Camp' in their own ways - one the story of a group of girls locked into steriotypical stories of bonded love the other is about prisons. Lets have a discussion on the subject and then I might be able to decide which I like better.

it is a toss
Bad Girs Good TLW Prettier
Bad Girls way better
I'm Starting to Sway toward BG
Your arguments are spot on. They are different animals really and that shows in the way they communicate, but I must say if The L Word had stayed as good as the pilot and most of the first season it may have been a closer run thing.
Bad Girls by a mile
Hey its not a competition!
Having said that, Bad Girls is superior to the L Word in every aspect, including the writing, the acting, the character and plot developments.Simone Lahbib and Mandana Jones are fantastic actresses and they are drop-dead gorgeous, too.
Convincing Acting
ohh simone
ohh simone simone......*hearts*
altho i do prefer the L Word. I remember just forwarding to parts in Bad Girls with Nikki n Helen in them, but at least for TLW, i can sit through the entire show. It's better entertainment.
Storylines Make it Our Story
Bad Girls
Addictive Television
Who do you love more... Daddy... or chips ?
Which is best, the L-Word or Bad Girls ?
That's like asking a mother which one of her children she loves best.
It's just plain wrong to choose.
I love them both the same.
OK, OK I'm a bad Woman
Bad girls for sure
Bad girls is a plain story of love between souls and L words...hummmm sometimes it look like lust then love.
My thought ,could be wrong. So no offense please ladies.
Love v. Lust
Loving a woman
Its so natural and nice to love someone you related to and feel vibration inside out.
Love between man and woman is for the purpose of reproduction and once its done all what is left is emptiness.Love between women is end in itslef and not means to an end.So as Taratouwaka explains well witten script can make a huge difference.I fall in love many times with woman in life and I am happy to say that I am a lesbian but I never look at the breast of a woman before going further.I think its true with all girl lover but man measure the breast before anything.
Bad girl is such a story and sex comes very late.A natural desire like in a child to put thing in a mouth you like :))))
I love both shows, but I
I love both shows, but I have to say one thing.. To me the big difference between TLW and BG is the slow building of characters and the lovestory in Bad Girls. It took 3 seasons for Nikki and Helen to end up together. It kept me watching, it got me hooked. It took a whole season before they shared a first kiss and then another whole season before they shared the night together. It was all about the emotions they experienced down the road.
It took exactly one episode for Jenny to fall for Marina in season 1. A few episodes later it's all over.. The L Word is so rushed sometimes in the starting and ending of love stories.
Bad Girls
I can't get enough of the British TV series, Bad Girls. I watch the eps over and over and enjoy them each time. Of course I am most interested in the beginings of love between Helen and Nikki. I do hope that blossoms to a full blown romance. Can anyone who has seen the other seasons tell me if Helen and Nikki eventually have a secret romance?. I can't wait to see them both kiss each other in a passionate way.
Keep up the good work LOGO and keep those Bad Girl episodes coming, thanks!
PS: forgive my spelling mistakes, if any :-)
Very Bad Girls
Well I can tell you that you have to wait and find out but then that would lbe cruel. Yes they do get together but the story kinda drags. It's a great show. i am up to season 7 and have 8 on order.
Bad girls is like our Australia Prisoner but badder...I love it...The L word kinda shits me because I don't see girls like that roming Sydney...maybe its an American thing.Bad Girls
Thanks you for the info. Riverrain. So, you are an Aussie huh?. I have been in the beautiful land of OZ twice and I absolutely love it. I was in the Brisbane area in 2000 and 2002. I hope to go back sometime in the near future.
Anyway, beause I am in the USA, I can't order the episodes because they are not the correct region, for us they have to be region 1.
Is Helen and Nikki going to be in season 8 too?.
I like the LW but after seeing a few eps of BG's I am hooked :-).
If you know of anywhere I can get region 1, let me know I can't stand the suspense *lol*.
Cheers
Helen
Region 1 and 2 DVD's and players
do you live in the US? Is it possible to have a Multi region DVD player and purchase the UK Dvd's of badgirls and they still work on US TV sets? I want to purchase all Bad girl DVD's but I dont want to purchase the Multi Region DVD player unless it will work on US TV's. Do you have info on this?
Thanks

Hmmmm its a tuffy
Well this really is a tuff question to answer. I mean I love both shows and they are both good in thier own ways. But in all honesty BG is just alittle bit above LW for me. I just find it better and more relatable, i mean not that ive been in prision or anything, but just the stories seem more down to earth to me. Mind you im still quite upset with the LW for killing Dana, but that nither here nor there. It may be a tuff question but my answer would have to be Bad Girls. Im way more involved with BG then I am the LW ^_^
Its Time To Dance!!!!!! (")^_^(")
There is no DVD region problem
in North-Mexico you can buy any dvd player in most stores and the electronic personnel turn your dvd multi-region so you can play all regions 1, 4, 2...... It's really easy they just introduce a special code and bingo. You can play all your dvds no matter what region.
I bought Sugar Rush from Amazon UK (Region 2) and I needed a multi-region dvd player, so I went to DAX store and I found this unknown chinesse brand for less than $45 dollars and a guy introduced the special code and now I see all the regions. There is no extra charge if they transform your dvd player. Of course that you can buy sony, samsung, phillips, daewoo, lg, and every expensive brand but for me it was waste of money.
Baja California is a high industrialized state and we fabricate electronic devices, aircraft parts, medical equipment, etc and it's very common in BC Mexico to fabricate dvd players that can play region 1 and 4 especially if you live across the border with USA.
Bad girls is by far better than Lword
If we speak about storylines BAD GIRLS is by far better than the L word. The L word is hot women and sex only. Don't get me wrong Bette and Tina are soulmates sooo perfect together and when the audience believed TiBette would be the everlasting love of all seasons, Bang the couple was destroyed. Marina and Jenny were great in season 1. There is no Marina anymore and look at Jenny now. The funniest couple of the Lword was Alice and Dana. Not only Dana is dead, she chose Lara and made Alice really miserable. Come on. Shane and Carmen were sooo hot and really sexy together, and Shane did the worst thing that a woman can live, that your girlfriend/boyfriend left you at the altar. No one is happy there. GOD It's like the L word live in the twilight zone instead of LA.
On the other hand I love the intensity and subliminal passion between Nikki and Helen in Bad Girls. This series is really addictive, with good storylines and focused on reality. The most important thing is Bad girls don't make me feel miserable because my favorite couple is destroyed for nothing.
Nikki and Helen
Nikki and Helen are more intense and convincent as a lesbian couple than JoBette = JoBad kisser.
Bad Girls
There is no doubt in my mind that Bad Girls is so much better than LW. I like LW, but I love the sexual tension between Nikki & Helen in addition to getting to know some of the other inmates too.
As far as a multi region DVD player, I purchased a Phillips on Ebay and have ordered season 2 of BG, so I can't wait to get both. Once I know the DVD works I am going to get all the other seasons :-)
I had a question about season 8, is Nikki and Helen in the last season?. There names were not liste in the actor area.
Tomorrow, Sunday, LOGO our gay US TV station is showing season 1 all in a row. I have season 1 but I will still watch it again on TV :-).
For those of us who live in New England, USA I hope that storm is not as severe as forcasted.
Cheers,Tootsiekoala
Bad Girls
Bad Girls ... the future
I used to be a big fan of Bad Girls, but as the series (seasons) progressed it grew more and more bizarre and lost itself along the way. There are more Lesbian couples coming up in future seasons but none are as satisfying as the development of the relationship between Helen and Nikki. What's even more unfortunate is that Jim Fenner proves to be almost indestructible.
It's not always the case but in this one I am voting for the American glamour of the L Word over the hardcore British drama of Bad Girls.
SPOILER
I'm really lucky to have been able to get Seasons One through to Seven out here in Australia long before you lovely Americans received Bad Girls and I don't want to be mean, but I'm just saying, don't hold your breath with Bad Girls. I'm not sure what season you're up to, but after about Season Five, it's just not worth it. As for comparing the two, I daresay I love Bad Girls the best, because it's been around longer and has more meaning to me. The L Word is just... it's a shallow drama, you know? Please don't get mad at me for saying that, but it is. It's all coffee and sex and breakups and, more recently, stupid bloody people doing stupid bloody things. I guess Bad Girls has that 'real' feel about it because whereas it might be a drama, much of it is based on true life stories. Just my two... alright, fifteen cents!
Bad Girls!
Well, come on, Bad Girls is sooooo the winner! I have never been so addicted to a show in my life... Even when I cut myself of from watching it, it just sticks in my brain. I actually only care about the first three seasons, although I have seen the rest, but as Crazy88s says, it just becomes bizarre.. So I only bought those three seasons. Recently I decided not to watch it for two months, but it doesn't work. So to make it easier for myself, when I crave some Nikki & Helen, I've decided to make an edited version, with only the storylines that have to do with those two. So far I have done season 1. That way I don't have to go searching through the episodes for parts I like. The rest I've seen 4 times, so now it's time for just some NH.
The L Word is cool too, don't get me wrong. I always watch it. Have seen every season so far three times. But it just doesn't stick in my brain forever, as Bad Girls does.
The Same Yet Different
I love both shows, well I take that back I love the first three seasons of Bad Girls. Because of the Nikki and Helen Story line. I think there is two things that Bad Girls and The L word have in common. One both shows are based around woman. And two there is lesbian story lines in both. Where Bad Girls has more random lesbian story lines. The L word is based not only around woman but lesbian and bisexual woman. So in the long run its hard to compair the two. We all fell in love with Nikki and Helen from Bad Girls. Which was and still is its main draw. The L word has a constant stream of couples that we either love to hate or just plain love. I love both shows for some common reason but also for very different reasons.
Jessi
bad girls wins in the vs
bad girls v l word
Helen & Nikki
At the end of season 3 of Bad Girls. Nikki and Helen are kissing, then the words "to be continued" show up. Why would that be if they are not in season 4?. My only theory is that they are telling us that Nikki and Helen will stay together but I'm not sure.
Can anyone give me an answer? Thanks in advance :-)
Show Creators
BG all the way.
Bad Girls!
lesbian without borders
BG is not only much better
BG is not only much better but also more lesbian. The characters and the storylines are really written from a feminist and lesbian point of view. You can tell it from little details, such as,for example, the fact that the pursuer in theN&H storyline is Helen, the straight one. And I wouldn't say women in BG aren't hot (Helen? Nikki? Yvonne?), they're women, not top models ...
huh?
Huh? Helen is the pursuer? Are we watching the same show?
And did someone say that the BG women weren't hot? I agree, they're much closer to "real" women than the L Word women are, but, that's exactly what makes them hot.
Lisa
REAL Hot Chicks & BG vs. LW

I wholeheartedly agree that the women in BG are Hot because they look like REAL People not Women who have had 4 hours of "Styling" (L Word) As to who is doing the pursuing I think Clairemoon has a valid point ... think about all the times Helen follows Nikki ... to the potting shed (inexplicably!) ... to her cell ... goes to find her in the garden ... It's not just some fantasy in Nikki's head... she knows this woman is pursuing her, the problem lies with Helen figuring that out.
As to which show is better ... I have found both equally addictive, however as many have already said BG stays with me, gets into my head. L Word is "fluffier."
Quality of Acting: Bad Girls wins Hands down! (tho' in my opinion British TV almost always does this better b/c they let actors actually ACT!) Bette, Jenny and Alice are the best acted Characters on the L-word, All the Characters on BG are well acted!
Character Development: Bad Girls.
Plot development: Bad Girls.
Eye Candy: L Word
Sex Scenes: L word
Bad Girls is simply higher quality Television!
Freedom is not something you are given, but something you have to take.
Some were hot but some were
Some were hot but some were really fuggy too. I don't find all of the cast of the L Word horribly unrealistic in attractiveness. There are only a few people on the show that are really, really stunning. Same with Bad Girls there are people who are attractive, cute and many other things(DS is just weird though).
sorry
double post

Simone, Simone, Simoooooooooan
Inexplicably, I'm a brand spanking newbie to the BG world. I vaugely remember when it was being broadcast, and how huge it became, but I never tuned in until recently when I got my hands on all 8 seasons.
Undeniably, the first 3 seasons are far superior to the rest. The Helen/Nikki storyline is among the most convincing f/f romances I've seen on either televison or film. It doesn't hurt that Simone Lahbib is HOT, and MY GOD that accent!
I've watched up to series 3 of the L word, and, while enjoyable, it's never made the same impact on me at BG.
The L Word V Bad Girls
I enjoyed both show, I loved some parts of both show and I hated other parts of both shows. I admire the intentions of the creators of the original Bad Girls and the Helen/Nikki storyline was really very revolutionary for its time. If we compare early Bad Girls with The L Word the storyline and writing is tighter and more consistent but I saw Bad Girls because a vile mess in later seasons. Putting that aside I adored both show but I think The L Word has more re-watchability because it's fun and has more lesbian content about it. Bad Girls is a distant memory to me at the moment and I feel I have exhausted everything I could think or say about the show so for the moment I prefer The L Word.
Sorry But I Prefer BAD GIRLS
I WATECHED BOTH The L Word /its 4 seasons/ and Bad Girls / the whole 8 Seasons and both of them are Lovely...
Nikkie and Helen's story line was the best through out the seasons...
I am definitely a fan of
Seasons 5-8?
No doubt..
I have to say I prefer Bad girls.Every single episode of that show was amazingly written, especially seasons 1-3.I'm still missing that show..it kind of sucks that they've shown all the seasons in here already. The L word,on the other hand,is so different and interesting in it's own way and the actors are beautiful and all but the plots are weak compared to Bad girls.
Plus,Bad girls had Simone and Mandana and nothing can top those two together :)
