I'm a part-time freelancer (writing and web development) with a day job as a New Business Developer for a web design company. I love both although freelancing is #1.

Well considering i'm only 19...

I don't have a "career"

I currently work as a supervisor at a catering company but it's random, i'll work 3 weeks in a row, then not work for two weeks, i get alot of time off but it pays well and I have a lot of hobbies so i dont mind

but a friend of mine is hookin me up with a job at a game store which was like my dream job since i was 12, just something to put me through

well cant really say college

i guess life

I aspire to be a director/writer....I met tim and eric from the tim and eric awesome show and tom goes the mayor (adult swim) the other night in frisco and my friend asked them where they got where they were...they said they basically just made really bad/funny music and weird videos for their website where they gained a large fan base and eventually got signed to adult swim....and i told them that that was basically my plan too ....so I guess it could happen some day

Or maybe i'll land a big deal on a hip hop label

Human Resources Specialist

I love my job most days.  I wish I had the imagination to do a job that was "cooler" than HR.  But I'm a dork, what can I say.

"I'm not sorry for what I did.  I'm sorry for what I didn't do."

HR Specialist 2

I agree with you Nichole.  Being an HR Specialist can fun (unless an employee rips a strip off you for what they think is too much tax being taken).  When I was younger I wanted to be a cop.  But back in the day they had a height restriction and being only 5'1" I didn't make the cut.

Musician

... well whenever there's orchestra or gig work here.  But soon I shall move to London where there's much more culture, and hopefully make a career performing.

Anyway, I study AI, mostly for the cognition part, so I'm (hopefully) going to do a master cognitive neuroscience...

vandrare's picture

Wow... now that sounds

Wow... now that sounds interesting!!!

What is it like? ... elaborate please?

AoiSora's picture

yay :)

Well, a lot of subjects come together (which is why I chose it)

It's mostly programming (C++, Java, Lisp), psychology (biological, cognitive, how to do research) and everything in between (problem solving, language, human-computer interaction). Other than that, some not-so-related things like maths and philosophy.

Since it's a cognition science, it's focused on either how humans perform cognitive tasks or how computers do/should.

I'm only 1st year though, so who knows :)

Cognitive neuroscience is about human cognition and the biology behind it. Who doesn't want to know how their brain works? ;)

I'm actually glad someone thinks it sounds interesting ^^" Most reactions are: "eh... is that actually a study?" - those who saw the movie  or "whadid ya say?" - everyone else :P

kernuack's picture

I'm glad to see other girls doing AI too!

Hahaha! I used to get the same reactions when I told people I studied AI - after a while you get kind of sick explaining that playing with robots is only a tiny fraction of what you do, and an optional fraction at that! I graduated with a joint degree in AI and Linguistics in 2005, did a masters and am now half way through a PhD in language evolution. Taking the AI component was by far the smartest thing I did as an undergrad - it's totally set me up for what I'm doing now - although I'm kind of glad I don't have to do as much simulation/modelling work as I used to do. It gets kind of lonely coding for hours! Good luck with your studies...it gets much much harder after 1st year, but it's totally worth the effort.

Student/government

I'm an Arts/Law student (last year though, yay!). For cash I just got a new job working two days a week at the Family Court of Australia. People ring us (our first day we were told "it's not a call centre at all - we're a national enquiry centre") for information on how to proceed through the family court system. It is incredible how many people are getting divorced. Over 1500 calls a day about it. Golly.
