What is the best way...After been with my last GF for 4 years and spending the next year getting over that disaster zone, I've just about managed to put my life back together. Now I'm ready to go out and meet some new people. I find the scene to be quite cliquey and if you don't know someone, you're not gonna know them unless it's by association. I kind of want to meet someone in my normal everyday life, like in a coffee shop or a book store or anywhere where it's not loud and really busy...off the clubbing scene kinda. Any ideas?

with ya!
it's annoyingly hard to break into a group of friends at clubs, so i suggest pretty much what you said: coffee shops (starbucks, whatever), book stores (borders, b&n, local book stores) and the super gay health food stores haha (whole foods, trader joe's, wild oats) never fail.
you'd be surprised.
Whole foods...

O my god, I love Barnes and Noble! We don't have it here though... I wish to god we did and also a Whole Foods. That place looks great! Sigh...I'll just have to find the Irish equivelants.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have more pressing matters to attend to...
..
The local gaybourhood?
You can try the bookshops and coffee shops there, you'd have a better chance. Or if your city offers events and such for queer people, you can attend those.
Congratulations on getting back up again, by the way. :D
hehe
i was in the same predicament not too long ago. lol. some people gave some pretty good ideas. i suppose if you have a great gaydar then you would be successful in picking out the gaywomen at wholefoods or barnes and noble. how about at ur local lgbt center?
