News, Reviews & Commentary on Lesbian and Bisexual women in Entertainment and the Media

Hellooooo Boston!

So, I just recently started getting in touch with the LGBT community, after YEARS of isolation a.k.a. only having straight friends to hang out with. I started going to the Pride Parade 2 years ago, and this year, I went to my first ever Boston Dyke March. And I probably sound SO sheltered saying this, esp. living in the city and all, but I never knew there were so MANY lesbians here! I was actually pretty astounded by how many people showed up this year for the march, aaaand...

I wanted to say hi and see how many Bostonians are on here! :D

woohoo

I absolutely love it here! I'm technically a Floridian, but I've been living in Boston (well, okay, Cambridge) for three years and it's felt like home since the first day.  I'm not too up on the LGBT scene here, either, though, sadly...I've also got a ton of straight friends and no out lesbian/bi friends (plenty of gay men, but the women are harder to find).  That makes it pretty difficult to get out and explore the LGBT community, because I feel like I'd be pretty uncomfortable just showing up solo...I'm definitely a bring-a-friend kind of girl ;)

Same here!

It's so much easier finding gay men than lesbian women. I swear, they hide REALLY well in Boston. And if I attended any LGBT event, I'd just drag my straight guy friends along. I need more gay friends! haha.

oh yeah?

I don't live in Boston but I'm most likely going there for college fall of 2010. It is pretty gay, then, yeah? Cause, I've heard some pretty homosexual things about that place haha.

Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Haha, kind of?

It's kinda gay here, especially inner city Boston. There are of course the occasional Jesus freak who will outright yell at you for holding hands with someone of the same sex, but it's your usual northeast city. Haha.

kind of late posting this but....

i'm not from boston but i spent quite some time there this summer and loved it. AND..i went to the dyke march too this year! i was blown away by the attendance at the march and also the parade.

but yes, though i wasn't there for tooo long, i did get a peek into the boston gay scene and had a lot of fun. attendance at things like the boston guerilla queer bar events (which, by the way, were great) tended to be a little male-heavy, but i learned to just hit up Machine on Dyke Nights (or queereoke in JP) for my weekly dose of tons-of-boston-lesbians-packed-in-a-room   :)

I go to school in Boston,

I go to school in Boston, and live reasonably close. I haven't really gotten involved, but I really want to know where the 25-40 crowd hangs out ;)
