here. My mom's originally from Portugal, but has lived in Germany for about 40 years. I'm half-german and half-portuguese, but sadly only speak German and English. But I love Portugal, and I would actually like to spend a semester in Lissbon, because the first (and only) time I went there about 2 years ago I immediately fell in love with the city. 

Apparently my college here in Germany would only allow me to attend the university in Coimbra, though, and I'm not exactly sure if I want to go there. Has anyone been to Coimbra and its university? I'm also a little uneasy to go because of my being a lesbian, I don't really know how the climate is socially and politically in terms of accepting homosexuality in general.

I'm 100% Portugese, but was born in the US. Every time I visit Portugal [at least once every two years] I don't want to leave.

Eu sou uma portuguesa regressada a Portugal há 7 anos ( o que será que eu vim fazer? ;) I´am a portugese woman who lives in Lisbon after living 15 years out from Portugal on the North of Europe.

Acerca da tua pergunta sobre qual o efeito que provocou o "coming out" no jornal Expresso, de algumas mulheres LES, até agora não percebi nada. Acho que anda tudo adormecido por aqui, ou a pensar como é que se dá a volta à situação desesperadamente intrigante, de um panorama económico problemático e de um ambiente politico mais ou menos "non-chalant". Acho até que o único local gay que havia em Lisboa, tipo centro comunitário LGBT, fechou. Eu pelo menos passo lá em frente de vez em quando e só vejo uma porta fechada e um ar de abandono. Há lésbicas que até acham, que não é com parada Pride, que se ganha simpatia para o movimento LGBT e que por isso, se devia deixar de fazer o arraial pride e a marcha na Av. da Liberdade... 

 So, about your question: what is going with the LGBT movement in Portugal, i can only say that i dont see relevant changes anywhere on the daily life. But maybe there are something that change under the quiet portugese way of life.   

Bem...aproveitando o tema...pequenas e subtis mas importantes mudanças já se fazem notar...a verdade é k so posso falar nas camadas mais jovens...e acho sinceramente k começa a surgir mais abertura...a homosexualidade nao é assim ja um tabu enorme...tou de momento a morar na zona norte do país...e poxo dizer k no porto...a noite gay...é algu k faz parte da noite com naturalidade...sao pelo menos 3 os bares abertamente gays...e existe igualmente...e algo mais diurno...a associaçao ex-aequo...k tem sido provavelmente o maior movimento de mobilizaçao de jovens glbt em todo o pais...com espaços espalhados um pco plo pais todo...e criando uma rede de apoio e educação nacional.

So in my opinion...I think it's safe to say...that Portugal is moving...(okay maybe in a slower way then desired by all of us)...towards progress...they are still a lot of things that need to be changed. But it starts to proudly glow a "rainbow"at the end of the tunnel around here:P kiss to u all....AÇOREEEEEEEEEES:p I had to say that....to feel like there's a little azorean part around here:P *

Já visito este site há cerca de 4 anos mas confesso que nunca me tinha apercebido da zona de forums, só recentemente. E venho mais para me manter a par de filmes, series, musica ...

mas é para lembrar a tod@s que a marcha e arraial lgbt de lisboa está marcada já para este sábado. Começa às 16h no principe real e depois continua-se na praça do comercio até às 4h.
