This year's AfterEllen Baseball League will be a bit simpler than the last: five categories for hitting and five categories for pitching, all in the traditional fantasy baseball (roto) categories. Everyone is welcome to sign-up, including newbies (both to AE and to baseball). We've had a lot of fun in years past with fantasy baseball and football, and somehow the European "I don't know anything about baseball/football!" members always seem to kick ass.

So whether you want to bring some fantasy sports pride back to North America or stick it to the Yanks, sign up today! :)

/sales pitch

 

To answer some questions in advance:

1 - It will be an Autopick Draft so we don't all have to meet online at the same time. This means you should pre-rank your players sometime between now and the draft date (circa March 28th). If you don't know much about baseball and/or don't want to pre-rank, your team will be drafted based on Yahoo! default player rankings (the best go first and so on), so you'll still get a good team.

2 - There are 12 spots available but we can expand this if more people want to play.

3 - All are welcome! All countries, all ability levels, etc. All you need is a Yahoo! ID (free).

4 - Sign-up is for AfterEllen members first and then we'll open it up to friends/family/acquaintances of AE members at a later date. If you know someone who wants to play but isn't from AE, just post a reply and I'm sure we can accommodate them. Better yet, poke them with a stick and get them to join AE too! :-P

5 - Have fun!

We're at eight teams now (which is how many we had last year) but would love to have a few more! I notice some regulars are conspicuously absent from the list so far too (Lana, PamInFoxboro, Code3, Jinksi, etc).

If you're thinking about signing up, go for it. There's still room. :)

In the meantime, perhaps we should introduce ourselves? Some of the names this year are unfamiliar and it's nice to know who you're playing with. So...

We have two spots left and I'm now opening it up to any friends/family of AE members (girlfriends, etc) too. First come, first serve. If those spots fill quickly and someone else here wants to join, I'll consider upping the total number of teams allowed. Just post here or PM me.

It's only taken me 2 months to find this thread again, but I guess that's not too unusual, as I'm an inbred hillbilly and all. Was trying to figure out who everyone is. I'm the Dickless Wonders. Ooo, Cubs/Phillies game is coming on! Later.   --Talk Derby to me.

I actually decided to join up, in the space of a few minutes, to see what it's like. If nothing else, I'll stay in the... cockpit? Dugout, that's what I meant, and cheer my fellow players on. Uh, but when I went to log-in, with details provided here, told me the league is in pre-draft mode. What does this mean, please?

...but the league is in full swing. Play started in early April. There is a mid-season league we could start, though....     --Talk Derby to me.

...and the league is set at 14 teams. We can play with a minimum of either 4 or 6, I forget, but we have to have 6 to get trophies. It's all about trophies, you know. If we need to expand beyond 14 teams, that's not a problem.      --Talk Derby to me.

I already have the maximum 4 teams this year (best way to win is to throw a million darts and hope one sticks, right?) so it looks like I'll just have to win the full season league. :)

I can have five teams, some how. I guess mid-season leagues are classed differently than full-season. Anyway, I'm all joined up ("Five & Still Alive!").

I'll try to get Kirsty to join too since her poor ole European Warriors are mired at the bottom of the full season leaderboard. :(

Who Five & Still Alive was! Hiya Koma! I thought it was like Number Five from Short Circuit which was creepy because I'd watched that movie the night I saw it there! Tell me, what do we do now? I know, I'm inpatient!

I'm hoping (HINT HINT) that some of my gals here will join up. I'm looking at Heartease, Kemy, T, Veegee, Code, Spice, you know the usual suspects!
