I do know who he is- and he is incredible. He really breaks away from the traditional styles. That's one of the things I like about the instrument- it sounds great in any genre of music. In my band we play everything from calypso to classical to soca to jazz to.... you can do anything with it.
Hmm, it has crossed my mind that since I'm not completely out, posting info here might not be the best way to keep things hidden. But hey, i can't control everything and there will come a point where I'd have to face it, so why worry right?
Oh and hello to all fellow West Indians - hopefully one day we'd be able to turn the wheels of recognition and acceptance (even if only legally to start) in our favour.
I am also from the west indies....still there myself. Not much of a gay community on the islands. Hopefully one day our people with be more open minded and stop using religion as an excuse.
i have yet to meet another gay person there! thankfully, i've been spending most of my time in ontario, canada, so i've met some really nice gay girls.

I'm from St.Lucia. I live in the D.C. area now. I went to an all girls secondary school so that helped my love life a little. But ofcourse we were in the closet big time...well, as much in the closet as you can be on a small island. After graduation it was a bit tough to figure out the scene unless you were into rigid butch-femme roles (which I'm not). And I left before I got a chance to really figure it out properly.
And I have to say that after living in the lesbians-of-color-mecca that is the D.C. area I have been totally and completely spoilt.

I have been trying to find LGBT groups locally but anything I see its basically some sexualised party/forum by "dpoolsidecrew" or "dsistahood".
Hopefully soon there will be a forum in T&T where LGBT issues can be discussed in such a way to promote social change and tolerance.
