Cruel Intentions

So... I was playing on the computer watching Cruel Intentions on FX, just ten minutes ago. It's been a while since I've seen it, and it's just awesome, like my generation type of movie. It's on FX so it's edited, but still good.

I was waiting for the kiss between Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair, and it was cut out. I mean entirely. There was a little peck first, right? Then on to a five second kiss or something, and they edited the entire part out.

I just had to tell someone, with no one at my house at the moment I came on here, mostly to vent. Maybe I'm overreacting. I don't know. It just seems so foul. It's even after 1am.

...

That's fucked up... a few years ago I taped it off of FX and it was all in there... I mean, there were plenty of corny over-dubs but that's to be expected.

I don't think you're overreacting.  If they can show daringly close shots of Reese Witherspoon "losing her virginity" to Ryan Phillipe then they should have no issues showing SMG kissing Selma.

What the hell???

......

See I would never watch movies on regular tv. Being that I know they edit all the good parts out. I either  buy/rent the movie. (depending on how much i love the movie) or wait till it comes on hbo/shotime or on demand. (if you have digital cable)

I rarely do this

But ditto.  I avoid major movies on TV.  I hate overdubs and editing.  What's the point then?

With what fx has shown on tv

With what fx has shown on tv during the day, I am shocked.

Yeah, no kidding...

FX shows Rescue Me before 1 a.m. for God's sake.

That's Just Ridiculous! I

That's just ridiculous! I keep a list of the companies that don't support the LGTB community. In Trish Bendix's article "Celesbians come out for the 2009 GLAAD Awards in NYC, Suze Orman said,

"Do you want to continue to give your money to people in corporations that oppress us, that keep us down? Or do you want to give your money to the corporations who can help us rise and change what needs to be changed in the United States of America today. I ask you to honor those corporations not only with your support but with your money as well. We can do this — and here's how you're going to do it. You are going to think about every single penny you spend from this day forward. And the only think I ask of you is to spend it and invest it in those companies that invest in you."

I agree with her 100%. I stop supporting companies that don't support me. Companies will eventually get a clue,  and realize that our community is just as important and should be equal to any other community. E harmony didn't support the gay community and now only does so because of the backlash and lawsuit they were slapped with..

On FX?

I would be ok with them leaving it in there.  Absolutely, I watch Nip/Tuck on FX.

That said, however . . .about a year ago "Cruel Intentions" was on ABC Family.  ABC FAMILY!

I'm not a prude.  If I find the content consistent with the venue, then that's fine.

But a 'family' channel?  That I let my kids watch?  And this was during prime time!  That kind of crap really pisses me off.

But back to your question, sorry.  I think they should have left the kiss in.  (And regardless of that kiss that movie does not belong on a children's/family channel, period.)

Well, I agree with you

Well, I agree with you there. That is messed up, I am NOT a fan of censorship. Murders are free to take place over TV but heaven forbid we show chicks making out or Janet's fabulous breast. I digress. I think Cruel Intentions was amazing, and I think that film and Can't Hardly Wait were the best 90s straight teen flicks.
