I think my boyfriend is gay. Help!

I’ve been dating this very nice guy for a couple of months now. We’re into the same music and he’s very easy to be around and we have a lot of fun together. But he’s camp as a row of tents. On our second date he told me that his friends refer to him as “the gayest straight man they’ve ever met.”

The other night I was out in a pub with him and a friend and he announced that Ms J Alexander from America’s Next Top Model is “a legend”. Then the DJ played the YMCA and he sang along to every last word before whispering to me “You know I’m not gay, right?”

He asked if I wanted to go see a gay documentary with him. He calls people “honey” a lot. His best friend is gay. One night after a few drinks, he suggested we head to the George (Dublin’s best-known gay bar). It was closed but still…

He’s way chattier than me. He makes bitchy comments about girls’ outfits when we’re out. It’s almost like I’m the guy and he’s the girl sometimes.

Oh and as if things weren’t complicated enough there’s the small matter of me swinging both ways myself - something he doesn’t know yet.

On the other hand, he’s very tactile with me and is always telling me I’m hot. He makes no effort with his clothes whatsoever. His room is an absolute tip. He said he used to have a huge crush on Joey from Dawson’s Creek. (But how straight can a guy who watches Dawson’s Creek be???)

There’s a part of me that suspects his campness is what drew me to him in the first place. But I’d like some objective opinions. Is this guy just really metro sexual or is he in denial about who he really is?

Hmm.. I feel like Charlotte in that episode of Sex and the City…
