Best. Lesbian. Week. Ever. (January 12, 2007)

IT'S LIKE SOUTH OF NOWHERE. IN NEW YORK. WITH A WEREWOLF.

Up and coming young actress Ellen Page (pictured below), who received critical
acclaim for her role in Hard Candy and most recently starred in X-Men
3
, is set to play the lead in Jack and Diane, a lesbian teenage
werewolf movie currently in pre-production.

It's a lesbian Teen Wolf! Only, not funny. At least not intentionally.

Jack's
love interest Diane will be played by Olivia Thirlby, and director Bradley Rust
Gray (Salt, Hitch) summarizes the plot this way: "Two teenage
lesbians, meet in New York City and spend the night kissing ferociously. Diane’s
charming innocence quickly begins to open Jack’s tough skinned heart.
But, when Jack discovers that Diane is leaving the country in a week she tries
to push her away. Diane must struggle to keep their love alive while hiding
the secret that her newly awakened sexual desire occasionally turns her into
a werewolf."

Lesbianism = lycanism? Well, at least it's an original twist on the lesbian
monster tale. Now, why didn't they think of that when they were writing Kate
Beckinsale's role in Underworld?

AND SHE WON "BEST RAKISHLY WORN NECK-TIE," TOO

Ellen beat out Jay Leno and Oprah to win Best Talk Show Host at The People's
Choice Awards this week (and Funniest Female Star), and she gave girlfriend
Portia de Rossi a kiss as her name was announced by Cameron Diaz. In her typical
quirky fashion, Ellen brought up on stage with her two groupies women
from her studio audience to accompany her and read an acceptance speech of sorts;
the funniest part was that they kept taking photos of themselves with Ellen
and Cameron Diaz while they were up there.

Even in her umpteenth awards acceptance speech, Ellen never fails to amuse.

And then there's the photos of her and Portia, looking dashing and in love:

Remember when we never used see photos like these at nationally
televised events? Yeah, we've come a long way since 2002.
