Israel and Gaza current conflictAs i'm watching coverage of the current conflict, i'm wondering what do yall think of the current conflict? I have mixed feelings on the issue. On the one hand i'm against war b/c of the damage caused emotional and physical, but on the other hand I can't blame Israel for trying to stop Hamas from firing rockets into Israel. semantics again, maggie? Really?
Lies are lies. The wording doesn't really matter.
Ask the dead Palestinians if they care about the words.
Actions, body counts, pictures... all speak louder than words.
Israel is good with words. It's just bad with actions.
One day, people will start to realise that.
You're comparing Gaza to a plantation?
You're right though. America treated it's slaves attrociously.
What a nation of imperialist barbarians.
No bloody wonder they support Israel.
They really do have so much in common...
I'm not calling Gaza
a plantation, go read it again. I'm calling having a race of people round up to one area a plantation as done in America a planation. I would not call Gaza a plantation, unless they are slaves with no rights all of a sudden.
Whats with all the hate on America, do you hate your own country as much? Israel and the US don't have slavery in common, b/c Israel doesn't have slaves. I don't expect you to understand though.
"Come On Then Get These Good Done Debbies"
Your the one bringing up semantics
only b/c you claim a person or group says one thing, then when a quote is shown that it wasn't said at all you say oh "semantics." Like when you try to claim that one word means another.
At first you were tired of hearing about Blacks in America, but now all of a sudden when you think that you can use it to your advantage.....your happy to bring it up. Shocking......not.
Whats with the use of the word bloody, why so much anger?

A link to Queen Rania's youtube page, her video on the crisis is Gaza I can respect b/c she is able to voice her opinion without calling a group of people names or trying to demonize anybody....... even with her hell on earth video.

Or check out Christian Amanpours special God's warrior it's very good in how it shows how the 3 religions of Abraham play a huge role in todays world.
Before I go take a break to watch UConn play Stanford. Here is two links to a story of Jordan Farmar once again trying to bring Arabs and Jews together via basketball the sport I love as well.

That is someone who is trying to bring people together, not tear them apart.

I'll check out your other stuff 2moro but going 2 bed now.
Which is WHY your analogy is flawed.
Yes, I hate Britain. That is not in doubt. Our arrogance is matched only by that of our children.
You're right. I don't get your analogies.
It's like comparing apples and oranges and saying they're the same.
Israel and the US don't have slavery in common.
They do have treating people like sub-human beasts in common. Not affording other races / religions the same basic human rights and privileges as themselves.
In that respect, you are spot on.
Only Israel, the master, knows what is best for the peasant Palestinians who are too incapable and untrustworthy to determine their own fate. So Israel shall decide for them. It's for their own good. Without their master, the peasants would destroy themselves. All peasants are capable of... is hate.
There's context and there's semantics.
I did that rather skilfully, don't you think?
Jesus, Maggie... you've finally met your match. Someone even slippier than you.
Me. ;-)
Ah you gotta love me.
I know you do... you don't have to say it. It can be an unspoken kind of thing.
I'm cool with that. I'm not needy.
Do you have any idea what time it is in the UK right now? It's 03.16. Very late. Or very early. I'm tired. I'm cranky. My keyboard doesn't work. And my 2 week holiday is nearly over...
It's halftime
Conn is winning which is a good sign for now.
It's not flawed it's just my way of saying that in my eyes a plantation is a place where slaves are kept and forced to work and keep up the plantation.....and they have no rights at all.
"They do have treating people like sub-human beasts in common. Not affording other races / religions the same basic human rights and privileges as themselves.
In that respect, you are spot on" Didn't say that. We could probably agree on certain points of rights and privileges, but I did not say that at all.
"Only Israel, the master, knows what is best for the peasant Palestinians who are too incapable and untrustworthy to determine their own fate. So Israel shall decide for them. It's for their own good. Without their master, the peasants would destroy themselves. All peasants are capable of... is hate." If you truly believe that example then why not be for a possible non-violent movement, to stop being "peasants."
I don't love you or hate you. I don't think i've met my match, i'm just having a convo with another person.
So that's why you use bloody, that's touching.
I do hope you check out the links, b/c I feel like by talking to each other even though we don't agree and probably never will.....we are taking a step forward. Same with the link to the Jordan Farmar vid where he tries to bring Arab and Jewish kids together with somethiing that they have in common. It may be baby steps, but those steps will add up in the end. Games back on gotta go.

Who won your game? I know
Who won your game? I know these questions are off-topic but i think if the people here get to know each other there would be less name calling around the place.
Those who deny the holocaust obviously don't know that Jews weren't the only ones killed. As well as 6 million Jews, Soviet POWS, Ethnic Poles, Romani, disabled people, freemasons and Jehovah's witnesses were also targeted. Just because someone dislikes a country or race doesn't mean they should mock the deaths of people.
have you seen Aimee and Jaguar? It's a hauntingly beautiful, true story of a German woman with a Nazi husband protecting a Jewish lesbian during WW2 who later was captured. Apparently, this woman also shielded a couple of other Jewish lesbians as well.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QsF2zxKkUQ
From Wikipedia

UConn won
and the Lakers cause I ended up watching that game too. You may be on to something that if we got to know each other, there probably would be less name calling goin around. Do you have any sports that you must watch, no matter what?
Now back to the topic.
People who deny the holocaust are just touched which is a nice way of putting it, and it makes me think of Mel Gibson. Since she is black, how would she feel if someone denied slavery of blacks in the west. Like you said it wasn't just Jews, it was anyone who was also considered unworthy. Have you ever been to a holocaust museum? I have and it's sad, and creepy with how they can re-create stuff all at the same time.
I have not seen Aimee and Jaguar, I wonder if it's at best buy.
"Come On Then Get These Good Done Debbies"
Congrats on your team
Congrats on your team winning. I play cricket (kind of like baseball), hockey and i like swimming. I'm not good at any of those sports but its good exercise and its recreational. I don't know why holocauset denial always comes into thread about Jews. It's like denying colonialism never happened, or that blacks and native americans weren't mistreated etc. I mean do they get some sort of perverse pleasure out of it. These are the voices that drown out or exclude people of certain races and faiths, for instance Jews in this case. I have no time and patience for these type of people. They weaken their own case.
I haven't been to a holocaust museum but i hope to go. I have read Anne Frank's diary and i've been really touched by her story. Have you read it? Imagine spending years in a house because if you were let out you would be sent to a concentration camp where cruel procedures would be conducted on you for eg. being put in freezing temperatures etc.
http://remember.org/educate/medexp.html
You should definitely check out Lily Wust's interview. She was the German woman married to a Nazi officer in Aimee and Jaguar. If the holocaust deniers don't melt after reading this they are heartless and ruthless creatures. Unfortunately, she is no longer alive. She had her interview on planetout but its not accessible from the site.

Aimee and Jaguar is a great movie. I watched it on youtube but i don't know if its still there.
Once again
Once again you have ignored my questions. Oh well, it's not the first time a British or even Scottish person has done that. I'm used to it and expect nothing less. :)
Anyway, if you really think that just because you say "you like me" or you like "rude interlopers" in your hot Scottish/British accent or you think your attempts to convince me to your point of view in your hot Scottish/British accent are going to work, you are deeply mistaken. It'll take more than that offline.
:)
You're Caucasian Scottish, right? So do you have the same colour eyes and hair as Laura Fraser or do you have blonde hair and blue eyes? I'm curious. Apparently, its a favourable combination among lots of people including lesbians.
Sorry to be off-topic to people here. I just feel like i need to understand h3... better. You intrigue me. I don't think i've seen another person on the Politics thread who talks about hitting her head against a brick wall and being bruised, or about some "dance" not turning her on and talks about her favourite lesbian couple whenever she can. You must be a very interesting person.
I don't know if i'm misrepresenting your POV but i think if you condemn violence you should be consistent and condemn all violence, regardless of the number of casualties. No purpose then should justify violence.
Incidentally, one of the other people here with the same views as you was also a Scottish lesbian.
my real life beckons...
This thread is very big and I prefer to pick my battles, one at a time.
To be honest, your questions, the ones I can remember, didn't really seem worthy of reply.
"Do I like brown people?"
The question itself is racist.
I like people who are smart and articulate and who can think for themselves. People who are honest and who possess integrity.
Race, religion and colour have absolutely nothing to do with who I like and who I dislike.
I genuinely like Maggie. Because she's really, really smart. I like that.
Politics, for me, is not personal.
I am quite willing to have an all out, down in the dirt, name-calling, hair-pulling fight with someone over politics... then go get a cup of tea with them and forget all about it.
I have no interest in politics.
I am interested in human nature.
Politics has a knack for revealing human nature.
It's how we operate.
And it's fascinating.
Which is why I like to stir things up.
Not that it's any of your business but I have red hair and brown eyes.
I am anti-war. And anti-imperialist. Maybe even anti-capitalist ;-)
I guess I'm a socialist. People not profits.
I don't believe in violence.
I believe in equality.
The Israel Gaza situation has no equality or balance.
One side has all the power, the other has none.
You cannot expect a side without power to sit back and take what is dished out to it, without resorting to violence. Without power, it has nothing to bargain or negotiate with. Except violence.
The imbalance between the two sides is creating violence, as a necessity.
Why would Israel negotiate with people who are peaceful and have no power.
It wouldn't. It wouldn't have to give them anything because it doesn't need to.
There are two scenarios.
1. Palestine renounces violence. No Israelis die. No Palestinians die. Israel and Palestine negotiate a two state solution. Israel must withdraw from some (best case would be all... but not realistic) of the occupied territories in the West Bank.
2. Palestine continues to resist with violence. A few Israelis die. A lot of Palestinians die. Israel does not have to negotiate with "terrorists." Israel doesn't have to give back anything.
Currently, which scenario benefits Israel best?
I am a cynic.
I believe Israel invaded Gaza to ensure the prospect of peace would never become a reality. There is too much hatred in Gaza now. Justified hatred. People have lost their homes, their families... their dignity. The Israelis took everything from them. Peace is no longer an option. The divisions and hatreds are too deep. Israel has succeeded in creating a whole new generation of suicide bombers for years to come.
In other words, Israel has achieved it's goals. No peace. No settlement. Israel loses nothing in the West Bank.
Remember Israel HAD PEACE. It could have negotiated then.
But no, it preferred to violate a 4 month ceasefire and start a war.
WHY?
Because they don't WANT PEACE.
Geez...I was just extending
Geez...I was just extending my hand in friendship you didn't have to be rude and arrogant about it. Then again i was rude to you so i guess you were responding in the same way. Usually, when someone tells someone else they are unique they tend to have more of a positive reaction. I wish you would treat me as nicely as you do the others here. I'm sure i didn't ask you if you liked brown people I just let you know from experience that British Caucasian lesbians don't take too nicely to South Asian lesbians. And i talked about imperialism and you obviously shared my views, so its not like i offended you.
If you were uncomfortable with my personal questions you should have said so. I don't think its a big deal to tell someone what hair and eye colour they have. I have black hair and hazel eyes. Such a big mystery isn't it?
Look, I haven't met that many British Caucasian people in my life but thanks for making a lasting impression on me.
I am not a cynical person and I like to be optimistic. Oh well, i suppose this is the last conversation we'll have on this thread. It was nice "talking" to you while it lasted.

1- I don't have a pink laptop .. that is way too girlie
2- I do live on planet Earth, but on my rules
3- I am a peacful person ..but in the same time realistic enough to know that not everything is solved by LOVE ..!!
4- The latests research about the Holocause is more reasonable to beleive than the Jew clamining that 6 million were killed. the below links provide an argument and info in to that matter

5- Why do Americans and Europeans talk about love, peace and forgivness while their govements is causing war in other continents!
6- Looking in to history of Jews, you will see that they were cursed by god .. according to the Holy books .. they should be stateless!
7- Black people regadless of their religion faces racisms most of the time, but as black person i would say that we are also responsible for the way other races portray us.
...
I don't think it helps anyone to deny the holocaust. Or argue about the casualty figures.
The fact that anyone would want to is, quite frankly... disturbing.
The holocaust happened. It is the greatest atrocity ever committed.
It should not be forgotten but nor should it be allowed to be used as an excuse for perpetrating even more atrocities.
Lets also
deny that blacks ever faced racism or where slaves at one point in time while we are at too. That would be just as unrealistic as saying that the holocaust is made up.
"Come On Then Get These Good Done Debbies"
...............
You saying it happened ... were you there? you can not confirm it NOR you can deny it .. that i understand .. and i hope you do so..
What about 9/11 and the reports that says it was an inside job ..What about the war on Iraq and the lie of WMD ..
THERE IS ALWAYS A DIFFERENT SIDE TO THE STORY .. depends on where you stand!
...
Some things are a conspiracy theory.
Some things aren't.
The holocaust is not a conspiracy theory.
It happened. There is evidence. It's not made up.
Why is it so hard for people to believe that, as human beings, we are capable of atrocities?
Atrocities happen.
We don't need to make them up.
Man is only too happy to slaughter each other.
It's in our nature.
And we have yet to overcome it.
Well
I guess there is no need to discuss this matter further more ..
Bigotry cannot be ignored that easily..it has to be challenged
No, that isn't because not everyone is oblivious to the historical details of the holocaust and its important to point that out to the ignorant. It's like saying did the KKK really exist? Were Blacks really lynched? I've never been to America and i wasn't alive during this time but according to your logic you can't prove or deny that Blacks were slaves or that a civil war occurred. Or that blacks were mistreated at all. Or that colonialism occurred etc? Or that Native Americans and Aborigines were badly treated.
Those type of offensive questions.
Check out the medical experiments carried out during the holocaust. You're probably benefiting from the results of these Jewish people's misery.
http://remember.org/educate/medexp.html
Or this beautiful true love story between a German and Jewish woman. Guess she made it up.
http://www.observer.com/node/43291You must believe this is the imagination of some perverse mind, huh?
You can say whatever you want but your words are not the words of someone who wants peace. Why you cite stormfront is beyond me. Everyone who glances into their site knows they are a neo-Nazi site. You do realize that Neo-Nazis don't accept people who believe in multiculturalism or mixing of the races, or people of diverse backgrounds or people of different colours, like you and me, into their groups. I think its quite sick that you would use these sites to condemn the holocaust. Do you hate people of colour as much as you hate Jews?
Have you read the articles there or do you always cherry pick to suit your case. It's for pro-white activists and people who want to promote survival of the white race before they get infected by "interracial"mixing and multiculturalism. So they hate us (non-white people) and Jews both. Wow, who would have guessed anti-semitic groups are racist and homophobic as well?
I wish the Neo-Nazis would give back the terms they stole from my country. Like the word Aryan. It doesn't mean white skin blonde haired person. It's a sanskrit word for honourable and it was a term used to describe the early Indians. Also, the swastika does not have ominous origins. It's actually a Hindu religious symbol meaning good luck etc. Svastika means life is good, there is meaning in life etc. not the evil meaning given to it by the Nazis.
http://www.sanskrit.org/www/Hindu%20Primer/swastika.html
But because of the bastard Nazis and their white supremacist neo-Nazi children i have to feel guilty about having it in my home or on various goods.
Actually, recently the highest Israeli rabbi proclaimed that the swastika wasn't a symbol to be afraid of and that it was a sacred religious symbol. He validated that non-Abrahamic religions like Buddhism or Hinduism are true and valid paths to God and that conversion is an insidious practice. Something the Vatican, Christian and Islamic denominations have yet do. They all condemn non-Abrahamic faiths as the lowest of the low and the Vatican especially is insidious in the methods it uses to convert non-Christians. It seems you people like to fight over whether your God is the right one.
Actually, ive heard the Bible and Koran mention Israel a number of times so i don't get where you think they are a stateless people. And who cares about those religious texts. There's no proof that any one religion is true or that any religious text contains the ultimate truth. This is something that the mystical elements of all religions have realised, as they believe God is one, that dogmatic believers have not.
The only country where there has never been anti-semitism is India (one Israeli rabbi was telling that in India and a journalist asked him "what does anti-semitism mean?" That pretty much says it all). Jews have and are still persecuted and reviled everywhere else. Jews have always been a protected class just like the Tibetans in India. As for Europe and America having bloody and brutal pasts. Yes they did, as did many Abrahamic religions including yours. Christianity and Islam both had brutal, bloodthirsty colonising pasts and brutally murdering those that didn't convert.
You abrahamic religion folk could learn something from the non-Abrahamic faiths like Buddhism etc. Like being peaceful and loving, finding love from within rather than material possessions. You know do some meditation, yoga, tai chi etc. Stop blindly believing in your religion and hating non-believers. Buddha said "Doubt everything and find your own light" and he was right.
Let me understand your thought process regarding the Holocaust and 911-your so called conspiracy theories. The victims in both (though not all) were mostly white, majority people= non-oppressed, they oppressed my people and other people in history therefore they are always oppressors= the perpetrators of all "injustices" in your eyes and therefore they must have asked for it. Actually a lot of the Israeli and Jewsish lesbians out there have hot olive brown mediterranean skin and are actually indistinguishable from Arabs. Guess you haven't met any, huh? They're also the nicest, and one of the least racist people around. No offence, but Jewish people on the whole are less racist and homophobic and than most other people of different races and colours.
Just because someone is a person of colour doesn't mean they can't be racist. There are plenty of brown, black, yellow and orange racists running around. I have a lot of awesome caucasian friends i would choose over some people of colour anyday.
think outside the box...
Look, I haven't met that many British Caucasian people in my life but thanks for making a lasting impression on me.
I am not a cynical person and I like to be optimistic.
I am not unique. There are lots of British Caucasians (straight and gay) who are not snobby or racist, who do not believe in imperialism and who do not support Israel. It is true we may be in the minority... but we do exist.
I have a friend at work, he is 20 years old. He is a straight, white, male. I have known him since he was 18.
And he truly inspires me.
He has had no education and has no qualifications. He suffers from ADAH (Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder.) Meaning he has difficulty concentrating on anything for more than 5 minutes. Which is why he dropped out of school at 15. He is one of 6 children, whom his mother raised single-handedly, after his father walked out when he was very young.
And yet, he is one of the smartest people I know. He has read Chomsky (WOW. I haven't even READ Chomsky and I don't even have the excuse of ADAH.) He has read John Pilger. And he knows more about Northern Ireland and the Black Movement in America than anyone I know.
He is 20! He despises Imperialism and does not support Israel.
I'm 35 and it took me until I was 30 to get to where he's at.
"So what?" you may ask.
The point I am making is, we are all a product of our environments.
We believe the propaganda we are fed as children by our parents, by our teachers and by the media.
But that doesn't mean we cannot question it... and think for ourselves.
The truth is out there.
It isn't difficult to find.
You just have to be WILLING to LOOK FOR IT in the right places.
It took me 15 years to undo my "brainwashing." (Yes, hard to believe. I used to be a happy little Imperialist believing Britain only ever acted out of compassion and to help people.)
Now, I look back at how I used to think and... LAUGH.
LMAO... What. An. Idiot.
Who denied that?
No-one denied that.
Why should Jews be protected? Why should Jews be treated any differently from anyone else. Are Jews allowed to get away with murder?
It is clear, nobody wants peace.
The Palestinians have suffered too much (at the hands of the Israelis) to make peace a viable prospect.
The Israelis have nothing to gain from peace, yet everything to lose.
Nobody wants peace.
Optimists and idealists want peace.
Cynics and realists know... there will never be peace. Not so long as people to continue to think in terms of... "Recognising Israel's right to exist (which is irrelevant by the way... Israel will always exist, no matter what.) Israel's right to defend itself. Suicide bombers. Terrorists. Anti-Semitism."
As long as propaganda has more validity than truth... there will be NO PEACE.
And we can blame that on ourselves... and our own stupid human nature.
That's great that
That's great that non-snobby and non-racist caucasian lesbians exist in Britain. I already knew that but i was talking about some unfortunate experiences i had.
As for you being unique, I was talking more about your personality and Otalia obsession and not the conflict between Israel/Palestine but whatever. It's obvious that there's no point in engaging you in any other type of conversation outside of this topic here. If you don't like my comments don't read them, just ignore them. You don't have to be arrogant and belittle them. You can just say you don't agree or don't want to talk to me about this.
As for my comment about Jews being a protected class alongside Tibetans..I was actually talking about India. A lot of other minority groups are also protected in India. So thanks for taking my comment out of context.
If no one has anything to gain from peace then no one can stop violence. A lot of other people in the world have suffered and are suffering from violence and death and they have moved on. I am sure the Israelis and Palestinians can move on as well if they try. I don't see this conflict as special or different to the conflicts around the world or that have occurred in the past.
sometimes I can't think of a title for this box... it's annoying
Did you? I'm sorry. I must have misinterpreted this.
American and other European Caucasian lesbians are far more open-minded and less snobby. The only friendly Brits I have met are Jewish British lesbians so I assumed they would most likely be different to most of you.
How silly of me not to interpret that as anything other than blatant racism.
Which is why I never bothered to respond to it.
I can assure you, my Otalia obsession is not unique. Trust me on that one!
Then, don't belittle yourself by being so narrow minded.
Like I said, I can argue with anyone... over anything. It doesn't mean I hate or dislike you.
In fact, rather the opposite.
I like arguing with people who have differing opinions.
It can be "head-bashingly" frustrating. But I enjoy it.
I also like people who agree with me. But where's the fun in that! Boring!
Debate is healthy. Don't take it personally.
The geography is irrelevant.
They shouldn't be protected anywhere.
No race, creed, colour or religion is above any other.
Equality. Not protectionism.
Precisely.
Now, you're GETTING it.
How about thinking outside the square?
Something you also need to do. :)
Well, just because i don't explicitly say there are non-racist and non-snobby British lesbians out there doeesn't mean they don't exist. I'm sorry you were offended by it. That was not my intention.
Not to generalize but I have found that British Caucasian lesbians, like straight British women, are also fairly racist and rude towards lesbians of colour, compared to other Caucasians, so maybe I’m biased against you people. Saying things like " Eww, I would never date a brown South Asian girl" etc.
American and other European Caucasian lesbians are far more open-minded and less snobby. The only friendly Brits I have met are Jewish British lesbians so I assumed they would most likely be different to most of you.
When I said this i explicitly said "not to generalize" meaning that not all British lesbians are like this but from personal experience these are the type of lesbians i have encountered. And these aren't my own isolated experiences. In the lesbians of colour thread another lesbian of colour posted a threat about racism in parts of the UK and about her caucasian friends weren't into dating lesbians of colour, especially South asian ones. That fit with my experience. And similarly on AE a Scottish lesbian said she wouldn't be into dating South Asian women either (that threat has now been deleted). It wasn't meant to be offensive but an observation of my experiences. I know a number of American-Indian lesbian couples but i don't know a single British-Indian couple. Those words are stated actually occurred to me and i'm not going to minimise my experiences because they sound "racist" or make someone uncomfortable.
I've noticed that Otalia seem to be a fairly popular couple right now. I hope they last. Although i'm liking the Home and Away couple as well. What about your personality? Is that unique or is it not so unique? I think having red hair is pretty unique. It's estimated that by 2060 you'll be extinct because there aren't enough of you to keep the colour going as only 4% of the population carries the recessive red hair gene, known as MC1R. Only 1% of the world population has red hair but Scotland has the highest % if redheads in the world with about 13% of the population having red hair compared to 2% of Americans for example. So if you add the red hair to the Otalia obsession plus various other aspects..I would say that's unique. But what would I know? I don't actually know any redheads and don't recall seeing any, if ever, in my life. Only on TV. So to me redheads are like magical, mythical creatures like unicorns or a centaurs...everyone's heard about them, but it's hard to prove they're real because they're so rare.
Just because my personal experiences and opinions don't fit in with what you expect doesn't mean they aren't real or that i'm narrow minded. It seems like you like frustrating things. That's a useful quality to have in life.
When i mean protected I don't mean that they are seen as being different. I mean that as minorities alongside other minorities such as Muslims they are protected groups and given privileges to practice their religion as they want and their religious days are holidays as well.
Precisely.
Now, you're GETTING it.
How stupid of me not to understand this earlier. Thank you for showing me the light.
Actually, what I mean is that both sides have to be peaceful and i'm not going to think otherwise.
Anyway, i'm not used to debates on here. I'm not a very political person and i've always thought i was too young to be into politics. Politics, in general, is a hole. The deeper you dig and enter the darker it gets and the harder it gets to come out.
It was in a response
to something sam had said. Go back and read that exchange again, then you'll see my point.
"Come On Then Get These Good Done Debbies"
Alright
So I'm not an expert on this subject but I will share my oppinion anyway. Basically what I think is that we have two nations determined to make the other suffer as much as possible until one or the other is destroyed. This conflict might calm down for a time but it will always remain beneath the surface and it will flare up everytime some hotheads decide to pick a fight. There are wrongs on both sides here, but the fact that the US supports Israel is beyond belief for me. Isreal is doing everything the Nazis did to the Jews during the holocaust, except for the gas chambers. Which on one hand might be more merciful instead of slowly starving the Palistinians out.
They built a large wall cutting Palestine off from most of their resources, it has a sad resemberance to the Berlin wall dividing Germany into one rich and one poor half. What I see is genocide, how Israel can justify it is quite unbelievable, but I guess the ghost of the holocaust comes in handy. I won't put blame on the civilians, I understand fully that nationalistic feelings play a significant part in this matter, I don't believe that common Israelis go around harbouring animosity towards common Palestinians just like that. What is shown in the media may be biased either way, we can't know what's what and it's common practice for the own nation to spread propaganda towards the general population. I bet the image of both countries vary greatly if you compare media from the different countries.
I don't exactly like Hamas, but for the Palistinians they're their "heros", people are angry and they're fiering them up with their statements and promises, it's a classic "unite against the enemy" campaign. Palestine has been quite isolated for a while when it comes to foreign policy and support from other nations, Israel has always had the majority behind them, so they've had limited places to turn to for help. Europeen countries are beginning to realise that Israel's gone too far and are willing to reconsider their support, but Hamas is already in control so I wonder if it's too late. The cynic in me says that this is a hopeless war which will go on for many, many years.
Plus, hey people! play nice, no need to attack each other, let's keep it a discussion, not a mud-fight, ok.

I wasn't aware that they were cutting off the hair of the Palestinians for their own personal use, or doing medical experiments on them, or giving them all permanent numbers on their skin to keep track of them, or keeping their women as sex slaves, or punishing gay people as well, among other things.
