News, Reviews & Commentary on Lesbian and Bisexual women in Entertainment and the Media

professional women outside the media

When I was reading the article about Kayce Brown, I realized how much I'd like to see profiles of lesbians and bi women in other professions - medical, legal, business, tech, etc - to learn more about their experiences of being out or not out, how they made their way through the ranks, etc. Is anyone aware of such a resource (web or print)?

(Let me also say that I love AfterEllen, and I think that the issue of lesbians and bi women in the media is especially important because of the role that the media plays in both shaping and reflecting our culture. So, this is not a suggestion that this site change its focus *at all*.)

I totally agree with you ronia - I'd love to hear about successful lesbians in all different kinds of professions, but I'm not aware of any resource as such. Over the years I've talked to many successful gay and bi women in many different professions through forums like this and have learned loads about how they have dealt with the issues you mentioned and I'd love to hear if anyone knows of any other resources too. I'd especially like to hear about women in similar lines of work as me - academia/science.
