Legalization of marijuana to boost economy..
The sixth season finale of Real Time with Bill Maher was on tonight, I'm not even sure if for the first time and Ashton Kutcher was a panelist along with a Florida Rep and I think the editor of Newsweek and they were talking about the outcome of the election and everything that's going to happen now and I found quite a bit of it to be pretty amusing and very true.
I have no doubt that legalizing marijuana would boost the economy. It could be mass produced at will, not to mention safely and the government could tax the shit out of it and it would still probably be cheaper than it is now. Marijuana is no different if not less harmful than alcohol and Ashton made a good point about the difference being that alcohol was consumed in church therefore it is legal while this country is supposed to be based on the separation of church and state. Alcohol kills brain cells and lowers your inhibitions to damn near nothing especially when consumed in great amounts and as somewhat of a binge drinker when I do drink as well as people I drink with, I can attest to that. Weed does much less damage to the body, especially if smoked through a purifier such as a vaporizer reducing basically any risk aside from maybe driving f***ed up. I'm just sayin', there are many more harmful things than bud that people use rampantly and it doesn't do any good for anyone. Why not take something that's about as morally acceptable as alcohol and cigarettes combined and use it to make some bank?
While I agree with Maher on a lot of things for the most part seeing as he's a sarcastic cynic like myself, he is definitely ill-informed on the LGBT community and offended me a bit. He did admit to being ill-informed and wasn't necessarily cruel in anything he said, just ignorant.
It was an interesting debate, anyone see it? Thoughts?
