Legalization of marijuana to boost economy..The sixth season finale of Real Time with Bill Maher was on tonight, I'm not even sure if for the first time and Ashton Kutcher was a panelist along with a Florida Rep and I think the editor of Newsweek and they were talking about the outcome of the election and everything that's going to happen now and I found quite a bit of it to be pretty amusing and very true. I have no doubt that legalizing marijuana would boost the economy. It could be mass produced at will, not to mention safely and the government could tax the shit out of it and it would still probably be cheaper than it is now. Marijuana is no different if not less harmful than alcohol and Ashton made a good point about the difference being that alcohol was consumed in church therefore it is legal while this country is supposed to be based on the separation of church and state. Alcohol kills brain cells and lowers your inhibitions to damn near nothing especially when consumed in great amounts and as somewhat of a binge drinker when I do drink as well as people I drink with, I can attest to that. Weed does much less damage to the body, especially if smoked through a purifier such as a vaporizer reducing basically any risk aside from maybe driving f***ed up. I'm just sayin', there are many more harmful things than bud that people use rampantly and it doesn't do any good for anyone. Why not take something that's about as morally acceptable as alcohol and cigarettes combined and use it to make some bank? While I agree with Maher on a lot of things for the most part seeing as he's a sarcastic cynic like myself, he is definitely ill-informed on the LGBT community and offended me a bit. He did admit to being ill-informed and wasn't necessarily cruel in anything he said, just ignorant. It was an interesting debate, anyone see it? Thoughts?

LEGALIZE IT
I will admit that I would be on cloud 9 if they legalized it. And not just because I LOVE weed...I do. But it would definitely boost the economy because SO many people do it. It's not physically addictive, you CANNOT possibly overdose on it (like you can with say, ALCOHOL, which is legal), and it also has some benefits. Yes, it does have some long-term negative effects, but then so do cigarettes and alcohol. However, it definitely does slow your reaction time (a concern when say, driving), but I promise you you won't be speeding if you drive high. LOL trust me. But unlike alcohol, marijuana does not make you violent, angry, or stupidly horny. People that are high are generally pretty relaxed, chill, peaceful.I definitely think it should be legalized. But people that are considering smoking marijuana should keep in mind that yes, it can be harmful in the long run, it does fuck with your memory, and also has the potential to make you very lazy, which could be bad, especially if you work a lot or are in school. But it really is safer than alcohol, and I challenge ANYONE out there to prove me wrong. Tell me why it should NOT be legalized.
A bird and a fish may fall in love, but where would they live?here is my take on this. I
Weed is NOT addictive therefor why have it legal if people arnt going to be addicted and cant live with out it. Cigarettes addictive - alcohol addictive.
I strongly belive that is marijuana was legal it would be fucked with - it would be as clean as it is now some dip shit would put all these additives in to make it harmful. Because people just cant leave things as is they have to take everything and change it.
i've been
i've been saying this since i was 10 and i am now 21.
oh. pot brownie caffes. XD
mmmm yeah
Yeah I could def. go for some hash brownies right now... magic muffins....space cakes....ganja goodies...kush kookiesLOL
A bird and a fish may fall in love, but where would they live?mass law
I agree,
wolrd wide legalization
i really like this topic and i realy like weed.
im not from usa, im from Brazil.so im sorry for my english. weed is preaty cheap here, you can buy 50g, for 50 reais. Wich for you guys, would mean that you could have like 70 good, fat joints for like 20 dollars. the problem here is that we have a gigantic social problem whit drugs dealing in general. the slams ( favelas) are full whit young poor people selling and dying because of drugs. If weed were legalized here, we would have a major decrease in the drugs dealings and in the deaths realeted . There is a very good american author Noam Chomsky that talks about war on drugs and it reasons. i recomend. there is no interest in legalizing weed or any drug, because it is very usufull in certan times too bring that up and make all those who know nothing about afraid and there for more easily to manipulate.
keep the good vibrations !
legalization
would be a dream come true.
alcohol also harms your liver.. but its fair to say pot harms your lungs too. Whatevs, i think moderation is the key to anything. I love a good blunt now and then and it would be AMAZING if it was legal. Yummy.
think about all the
Brasil, Brasil ;))
Yeah it´s very, very cheap in Brasil but not as good as in Germany ;P! We pay around 20 € = 60 Real for 3g and it blows you away. I´ve heard that from a few friends ;)!
I think it should be legalized but just circumscribed. It works pretty well for the Alzheimer´s disease but if it would be advertised publicly, as alcohol is, you´ll all see what happens. Millions of larikenta, lazy and apathetic people ://!
But wait...I´d love to see my boss like that. LEGALIZE IT ;))!

medical marijuana passed in Michigan ( thank god!!!!!!)
i live in michigan we just got it passed!!!!!! When i was reading about why it SHOULDNT be people were saying well because smoking is harmful. Ok so what about all the medication people are givin from doctors that do more damage to the body and brain then marijuana ever would.
I remember when my grandpa was getting really bad with cancer and some one ( his doctor or something) must have mentioned to him that smoking can help with the sick feeling and some of the pain so he called up my aunt and asked if she new where to get one of those joints from. My aunt found one took it over he went out to smoke it but ended up not. ( my grandpa was not a smoker - cigarettes yes for many years but no drugs or anything. ) I am a firm believer in the good effects marijuana can have and i have heard many stories from people who were very sick and marijuana helped them through alot of the hard pain.
Also, i have NEVER heard of anyone getting behind the wheel stoned and killing a family. But i also do not think smoking and driving should be allowed.
Here in Michigan you can grow up to 5 plants ( or something like that) so you dont even have to worry about all the "harmful toxins" that could be put in it. Medical marijuana is something that can be maintaned just like any medication.People just dont want to let others live their life in peace. They have something so shoved up their own ass that they just can let some one else be. I think more people should pay attention to what is going on inside of their own home and less in others!!!!!
I think this goes right along with gay marriage - if people would just let others be and worry about their own lives things would be fine - but no they cant "fix" them selves so they have to make them selves think they are "fixing" everyone else. honestly its sad. these are the kinds of people who are going to end up with cancer or a disease and eventually one day sit down and smoke a joint and realize just how good it truly can be. or these are the people who teenage children and living their life in the closet hating their parents more and more each day because they cant even be themselves around them they have to hide and fit into mommy and daddys perfect little family - which will only result in bad things...........
I Don't Like Pot
But I don't think it should be illegal. It's a waste of law enforcement time and money. If it was grown here, there wouldn't be a market for illegal foreign marijuana and the money wouldn't be going to drug dealers. That's good money flowing out into Mexico and South America.
If people wanna act dumb, that's their choice and not my problem...same with alcohol. Although I would argue that you don't have to smoke nearly as much weed as you have to drink beer to get to the state where you're acting like you just got off the short bus. If it was commercially produced, then the THC levels could be regulated.
And yes, by all means tax the hell out of it.

i also heard from friends
i also heard from friends that european weed is much stronger than the weed we have here in brazil. also we dont have here several tipes of weed like i have heard you guys have like in amsterdam . there is this basical tipe of weed, that isnt very strong, but that will definitivilly get you high. I like this weaker tipe of weed, because doesnt get you like completely unable to do others things while you are high. but Paraguai is problebly the place in South America where you can find the cheapest weed. But I would like to star my own plantation, just need to get some good seeds...
eheheheheh
Legalizing marihuana
Legalizing marihuana wouldn't boost the economy, but it would certainly make this world of ours way safer.
By buying some pot we are actually sort of paying taxes. Economy is quite a complex thing. The governments haven't eradicated the drug problem because it is actually a big thing for a country's economy —laundry money.
For example: A person that makes a ton of "dirty" money by being part of the drug traffic invest those profits in perfect and legitimate business, and so, pays taxes and gives jobs to tons of people. Without those companies a lot of more people would be unemployed, and a lot of other problems would arouse.
It should work with the same logic as alcohol and tobacco, but it doesn't, because of the networks that have been formed and the interests at stake.
If marihuana (and drugs in general) was legal, the crime rates would get so much lower, the money would be distributed a lot more fairly (through taxes and other), and the health consequences of drugs would be a much easier thing to deal with. Unfortunately the world is moved mainly by the interests of those "in power" (money), and it is not a bit close to be fair.

Legalize it...then govt going to tax it lol
1. the government will tax it
2. the government will tell us where to buy it
3. the government will put limitations on it
4. the government will make it and put restrictions on not only its usage but percentage the "dealer" gets
YAY lets turn the government into the mafia while we are at it...it is a good idea but hey look at the government systems it is already on drugs what more do we need for them to screw people over and to utilize marijuana the thing everyone loves at the core of the manipulation is absurd.
Good idea but not happening
feeling love sick
legalize it...
Good Luck
with getting the Drug Dealers to understand and comply with the way things work in a Free Market.

the government will make
the government will make "quit lines" and spend millions of dollars on ad campaigns that tell you how bad it is... like they do with smoking... and have ugly pictures everywhere...
Illegal pot is more fun anyway...
Plus pot can cause paranoia, and schizophrenia (triggers underlying genes inherited by family - but you don't know if you have the gene or not)... and (when smoked) it can lead to cancer and emphysema just like somking cigarettes.
It isn't harmless. Just because it doesn't kill you straight away doesn't mean it is harmless.
