Are Humans Superior?

Ok so lately I've been thinking about this a lot and I want to know your opinions on the matter. Are humans superior to other organisms?

I personally believe that we are no better than any other living thing on this earth. Why am I any better than that spider who has been living on my porch or that mouse taking up shelter in my basement? Aren't we all just trying to survive as a species.......

Come on.....how many of you all have killed something for no reason at all except that you don't like it or it bothers you just by existing? (eg. "pests" like snakes, spiders, mice, roaches, etc.)

So what we are higher up in the food chain......what does that matter? Does that mean that lions are better than gazelle's simply because one is the predator and one is the prey?

Why do people think this?
