Gay Rights Rally Photos (post your photos here!)Hey all, I thought it would be a good idea to have a separate area where we could all post our pictures from various rallies that we've been to. Seeing as we already have more than a few Prop 8 threads, let's try to keep this one just pictures and comments on those pictures. I'll start with my photos from the Prop 8 Protest in NYC on November 12th, 2008

You drove all the way from Canada to be at the NYC Rally?
You ROCK!

I have been truly impressed by the support we've received from our friends in other countries!
Grand Rapids, MI
We were small but mighty here in Grand Rapids.

DENVER, CO Rally Pics
Here's a link to pics from the Denver rally. I don't know how to upload the pics here.
Cleveland, Ohio
It was freezing cold, pouring down rain and very windy (so our umbrellas were turning inside out ;-) ), but we still had a decent turnout.

When I left, I was soaking wet and had only half of a soggy sign left, but I felt happy and judging by the smiles on the faces of the people I saw...everyone seemed to be feeling good about being part of a nationwide rally to support marriage equality.
Edit: I was trying to show that I was there and found this screen capture from a video:
It's a bit of a "Where's Waldo?" photo, since I'm the woman with the beige umbrella (which I shared with the girl in the dark hoodie).
You Go, H!
Wow ~H~
I admire you for getting out in that weather.
Way to go!
Getting Wet For Civil Rights
It was great knowing that we were part of a nationwide effort (with worldwide support) to fight for civil rights.
These photos from the different rallies are truly inspiring.
Jennifer...
A HUGE shout out to you and "Queen Bea" for being part of the Pittsburgh rally! :-)
I love the idea of everyone rallying TOGETHER (though in different locations) to help shape the future.
Youngstown, OH
Intensive Arabic language study kept me from attending, but I found a video the university paper recorded at the protest. They were across the street from City Hall, which also houses the courtrooms.

Way To Go, Yo!
In the video, I could see that it was cold and rainy in Youngstown as well. It was great to see that you had a small, but mighty, rally there...in spite of the miserable weather.
I wish you the best with your studies, Y.
:-)
NYC!
I went to NYC today, it was awesome!

It was awesome indeed!
This is a small portion of what i took. Most of them were bad, blurry or repleats (due to bluriness since people were moving).
I was there!
Cincinnati, OH
It was 40 degrees and raining but we still got a good crowd. Margaret Cho was there!
Orlando, November 15, 2008
Although I don't have any photos, I can say that we had well over 500 people at the Orlando City Hall at 1:30. We weren't included in the news at all, even though there were quite a few news stations there. We had lots of supporters, gay and straight, and that felt wonderful. A PFLAG Mom gave a speech and it was very touching. Our dedicated Orlando Police officers were there to keep the peace and made us feel safe.
My favorite signs: "Did you cast a ballot, or a stone?" and "Yes we can, Yes we did, O no, you din't!"
I hope that we can organize an even stronger prescence in the future, since this was only a start!

google for a programme called Irfanview....there's an option in the software called Batch conversion.. there you can compress your files to "make them smaller" without a great loss of quality... good luck and then post the pics :)

Providence, RI
Here in the smallest state we had a rally on the steps of the State House in Providence, in spite of the intermittent rain and wind blowing away signs. About 200 people showed up anyway, students and families and activists, plus our openly gay mayor David Cicilline and a gay state Rep both gave short speeches. Rodney Davis, an organizer for RI Pride, sang, while other people talked about their personal stories, including one woman who spoke about her grandmother, a sharecropper in Mississippi who taught herself to read and taught her children and grandchildren never to give up, to fight for their own rights.
I stood on these same steps almost two weeks ago when Obama was elected and there was an impromptu celebration, hundreds of young and energized people chanting and shouting in joy. The difference between these two rallies merely underlined the fact that just because Obama won doesn't mean we're going to win equal rights as soon as he steps into the Oval Office. We still have a long fight ahead, but I'm inspired by what I saw and heard today and proud to be a part of it.
More From San Diego!
And my favorite!
Someone had, "Yes We Can't?!?" as a sign. Genius!

Go on the
Go on the Americans!!
Much respect to you for fighting like you are. I must admit, I had always planned to emigrate to America when I qualified from college but after the ban I thought well, why should I bother if I can go somewhere more tolerant. But seeing these pictures is lovely and makes me reconsider once again! Keep up the good work!!
