tho helped start farmers' mkt locally, could sell surplus there (got bit lazy in recent sea of cash).
Anyway hallo hon. Yr thread's s/thing a bit different here!! Masanobu Fukuoka (not a name thought I'd type on AE) is my hero of the soil, alongside Aussie permaculturists & wartime Brits like WE Shewell-Cooper. The American Eliot Coleman's brilliant for setting things up (tho my scale's small) & I love the gentle tone of his voice.
But.. guessing I'm yr parents' age? Well, there are plenty 1960s-born working the land (most of us it seems), but not many out GLBT ppl.. And they're also 'the air I breathe'. So.. I may sell when the money world powers up again, & head for the city but.. bit torn. Bet you understand!!
(I'm seeing s/one, but a girl-about-town, doesn't own pair of wellies lol, won't go near these fields b4 summer)
Glad to check in here hon, edit/ tbh surprised (in good way) to see subject on AE. I hope farmers/growers nearby in the States (& some nearer yr age) get in touch, or on yr (beautifully designed) facebook. All the best : )
heck yes! Sustainable ag is my thing. I love it. I grew up on a traditional family farm in Northeast Missouri, and well. . . Farming is in my blood!
Right now I live in Columbia and was attending MU, but am taking some time off now. What I want to do is grow veggies though. Urban homesteading is really fascinating to me also. Just being able to grow and make what you need without having to rely on consumerist meccas. . .
I can't wait for summer to get here again already! Nothing like playin in the dirt.
more of a grower for house & friends, allyah
