Austin, Texas has become a major film force with recent productions of Universal Pictures - FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, Dimension Films - SIN CITY by ROBERT Rodriguez, and Warner Bros. - A SCANNER DARKLY by Richard Linklater. Introduced in 2003, Burnt Orange Productions collaborates with the University of Texas Film Institute, a program developed to train students in narrative and digital filmmaking. This unique
partnership will produce a slate of quality independent films. To support film production in Austin, Austin Studios was created through a unique public/private partnership between the city of Austin and the Austin Film Society. The centrally located 20 acre film/video production facility contains a 10,000 square foot production office building and over 100,000 square feet of production space.
