I'm So Gay! I'm So Not Gay!

gay: i've been playing softball for about 8 years (duh gay!!), i like women (big surprise), love cats, i watch the l word, not very social, i can fix things with powertools, love video games, i wear sports bras most of the time, i love leather bracelets, i'm oddly tall for a 15 year old with size 12 feet, i'm a t-shirt-jeans-converse type of girl 

not gay: i was a cheerleader for 4 years, i have long blonde hair, i look really femme even though i play sports, i have a secret love/obsession  for the jonas brothers, i'm in my high school show choir, hate pick-up trucks, i've only kissed boys (i'm new to the gay business) 

So gay: I love women to an unhealthy extent. I have short hair and wear boyish clothing for the most part. I have 5 cats. I'm almost six feet tall. I wear big clunky shoes and boots. I like getting into the pits at gigs, especially the really crazy ones - a bigger challenge. I have short nails. Nearly all of my artwork is of the female form, yum. I like my alcohol simple and straight (ha); mixing a fancy drink is a waste of time. I wear ribbed tanks like they're going out of style. I like confronting idiots who act homophobic (especially in public) - making them really embarrass themselves makes me happy. I get along better with men.

So not gay: I like makeup. I'm a vegetarian. I grew up playing with Barbies. I've dated more men than I have women, sigh. I'm useless when it comes to cars. I knit.

reading other people's responses are interesting! i just did the butch/femme one so i'm pretty much just repeating myself now.

so gay:
the only romantic movies i'll watch have lesbian/gay protagonists (seriously).
i LOVE war films and hate chick flicks.
i get hot and flustered over gisele bundchen.
and when i watch the annual victoria's secret fashion show, i'm not admiring the artistry and originality of their physics-laws-defying lingerie.
i like the l word.
i love androgyny.
i check out girls all the time.
i don't wear a bra all of the time. (i can get away with this, i've got small tits.)
skirts are annoying. not annoying when they're on other girls.
i like doing manual labor!
love beer.

so not gay:
i like muscly, tall, broad-shouldered guys.
i like dirty dancing with aforementioned guys.

other than that, not many of my behaviors and actions are definitely "not gay." to me, being "definitely not gay" almost sounds like homophobia, you know?

Gay:  I like girls, playing sports, working on cars, don't wear dresses, don't wear makeup, and used to have a boyish haircut when I was a kid ( I actually told the hairdresser to cut my hair like my dad's).

Not gay:  Ummm...I don't like flannel?  Sure there are a few others.

gay: fixation on everything gay. Obssessed with tlw and angelina jolie since a young age. own a total of zero make up products. except for face wash etc. Madly in love with my 2yr+ girlfriend. Can't stand having long hair Love sport. Loves yulia from tatu & lives in converses...and currently wearing baggy basketball shorts and reading this forum at 4am.

not gay: really really don't like cats. not out and proud ( yet ) relatively concerned about my hair. *shrugs* that's about it. 

I'm so gay because I love Doc Martens (so very, very much) and am a big fan of Ellen, Buffy, The L Word and South of Nowhere. Because I'm a gold star (never even kissed a guy) and I rarely wear make up. Because I fall head over heels for girls all the time. Because I have short nails. Because when i was younger I was such a tomboy everyone who met me thought I was an actual boy, even after they knew my very feminine name. Because I find drag kings hot but am never attracted to men. Because I basically view the world through rainbow-tinted glasses. 

I'm so not gay because I like to cook, I have long blonde hair and I love any opportunity to really dress up- prom dresses and ballgowns, yay!

So Gay: I have short hair and am "the pool boy" (i have to clean and look  after the pool)

so gay: I'm addicted to lez vibes in movies, shows etc., even when they're not acted on. I have a crush on Anna Torv. I insisted on being called a boy's name when I was a kid. I walk kind of boyish. I like my deep voice. I like women with deep voices. I can't stop looking at beautiful women and wonder if they might be gay.

so not gay: I like being a woman. I have long hair, though I mostly wear a bun. I'd never go out of the house without make-up. I have curls falling into my face to make it look softer. I love flirting with men (no tingles, anyway). I hate flannel. I like to dress up, though I'm not into skirts. I love looking at beautiful men.

Gay: My nails are SOOOOO short.

Not Gay: I love makeup and cute clothes and cute shoes. I've never actually dated a woman either...

 SO GAY:
 - I adore cats
 - I've been attracted to women since forever (when I was 6 I tried to convince my parents that I was the reincarnation of a popular male Danish actor - clearly this wish to identify with him had to do with the fact that he always ended up with the hot girls...)
 - I'm into feminism and minority rights
 - Never played "House" as a kid - didn't understand the game. Prefered Lego and art stuff.
 - My music collections is very much dominated by female solo singers (Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan etc.)
 - I own tonnes of lesbian movies and obscure lesbian books such as "Lois Lenz, Lesbian Secretary"
 - I just translated Alison Bechdel's graphic novel "Fun Home" into Danish.
 - I know who Erin Daniels, Judith Butler, Sarah Waters and Uh Huh Her are (most Danes don't), and I know that the women who designed the costumes for The Golden Compass is a lesbian
 - I get so bored by the overwhelming amount of predictable straight storylines on tv
 - I spend too much time on my computer, and I know what a Java Script is.

SO NOT GAY: (Though really, who's to say that these traits couldn't be gay? In my case, clearly there's no real contradiction- I'm just as gay when in a coctail outfit as I am right now in front of my laptop wearing my pyjamas)
 - Like to wear make-up when I go out... especially lipstick
 - Love skirts and even over-the-top colorful cocktaildresses (I like to wear them AND I like to look at other women wearing them)
 - I like knitting when I watch tv
 - I can't stand beer - yuck - but love wine and cocktails
 - I feel as attached to my hair as Samson did... It's long, and no one should dare to chop it off! 
 - I am hopeless when it comes to fixing my car (lots of embarassing stories here)
 - No tattoos, no piercings (my ears once) and don't own a cap or a pair of jeans...

So Gay: like girls, always looking for gay subtext in movies and books, wear birkenstocks, when me and a friend were assigning literary names I got Sappho, Rocky Horror Picture Show obssessed, Darlene was one of my favourite television characters, I do not wear make-up, etc.

So Not Gay: I like guys as well, I cross-stitch, I have long hair, etc.

I love girls 2 much, i can't walk by a girl without chekin them out (i sound like a perv) i played football evryday (without fail) for at least 5 years.  I would never wear a dress.  I love football. I have a deep voice.  I love the L-Word.  I have an unhealthy obsession with Anastacia & Eva Mendes.  I'm a member of Gaydargirls.  I go out clubbing every w.e to gaybars.  I hate the colour pink. I love baggy jeans.  I Love being with a girl. I box. 

Im So Not Gay -

I love fashion.  i have long brown hair.  I dress like a girl. i wear make-up (sumtimes)  I wear skirts/dresses now. I'm really emotional. i cant leave the house if my hairs out of place. i look like a girl. i act like a girl (wen it suits me) I love chickflicks. i love teddys.  i love sex & the city. i cry @ the stupidest things. i'm squeemish.

So Gay: my outfits usually consist of t-shirts with white tees underneath a thermal with a funny tshirt on top, jeans and classic Adidas. I may own every lesbian, and/or lesbian themed movie in movie history--(even the minutely homo-erotic). I grew up playing all sports. Don't need a man's help...I can do it myself!!! lol Love muscle cars and sportsters, pickups etc.. I Google to find new Lesbian news and sites to frequent. Hate heels, doing my hair--I haven't worn a skirt since Junior high.

So NOT Gay: Easier for me to get along with dudes. I have more guy friends than girls, and the guys are usually gay or have a thing for me. I hate folk music, love Hip Hop & Reggae. Don't frequent lesbian clubs, I love having hair, just not preparing it. lol

So gay: i act like a guy, think like a guy, mostly get along with guys, wear baggy clothes, don't wear make-up or even know how to put it on, and normaly don't care what my hair looks like, all my shoes are chucks, hate skirts and dresses, only shorts i have are baggy athletic shorts, played softball for 12 years, hate losing at anything, can get really competitive

So not gay: had a boyfriend that i went to 3 school dances with, go to church every sunday with my family, never had a girlfriend, i have to admitt that i like some popular music

I had a friend explain this all to me the other day.

So gay: I wear flannel like its my business. And I mean flannel. I will have none of this "my shirt is plaid so I call it flannel" business. It's either flannel or its not. I've played lacrosse since fourth grade. I own every season of Buffy. I have short hair. I know how to jump a car, change a tire, hotwire a car, and get out of any snow bank. (I'm 16, haha) During the winter, which in Chicago lasts about 7 months, I wear my dads old military boots. I've worn shorts maybe twice in my life. I watch Queer As Folk and South Of Nowhere maybe too much. I have issues picking out attractive men in movies, much to the dismay of my friends. I watch Ellen religiously, I'm in love with Tina Fey and Ellen Page. I'm a theatre kid and a lacrosse dyke.

So not gay: I also listen to boy bands, like HANSON. Way too much. I've been to three Hanson concerts. The majority of my friends are straight. I would do anything for a good gossip session. I love holding hands with boys. And holding hands with boys generally ends up with boy and I skipping through the theatre hall. I'm obsessed with Andy Samberg. I'm scrawny and have been told I couldn't beat anyone in a fight. Yesterday I got put in a headlock by an 80 pound freshman... It was kind of embarrassing...

Gay: I prefer girls to boys, sport, don't do dresses, I drink beer, I love Tegan and Sara, I gave barbies to my male best friend when I was five, yes he has a boyfriend now!

Not Gay: Kissed a boy last week (as a result of aforementioned beer!), my friends are going out tonight to a gay bar but I'm staying in.

gay: i love women and everything about women. i know how to fix things around the house. i wear form fitting t-shirts with sayings and jeans most of the time. always talking about women and checking out women with my straight male friends. my gaydar works great.

not so gay: everyone is surprised i'm gay because i don't look gay. i love to wear make-up , have long hair and love getting dressed up. almost all of my friends are straight and the only gay friends i have are gay men. always get hit on by a guy. don't go to any gay/lesbian nightclubs or bars often.

Chapstick not lip gloss. Can find many ways to turn a conversation into some gay pun. Loves San Fran. I love saying "fabulous." Must restate to show the importance of it..love them girls.

not so gay: Scream like a girl. I like girly things (even if i don't wear girly clothes). I will cry during a movie. I dance like a girl^_^. I do have Victoria's Secret lip plumper lip gloss(yea that contradicts the gay thing but, it's fabulous.) I can act real girly. Some guy's still catch my eye.

gay: women.....i love them, i cant stop thinking of them and looking at them and wanting them.

not gay:dont like sports, dont like beer, wear make-up, do my hair and nails.

So Not Gay: I'm totally femme - obsessed with perfume, dresses, bikinis and board shorts. I scream like a wuss when I see a spider...and yes, I actually do hide behind someone. haha...cringe...(I cannot do spiders) oh and my hair - love love love my hair. I'm in love with bumble and bumble hairproducts and I love my flat iron and curl product. I wear lipgloss and mascara daily. I'm a cheap drunk and prefer cosmos to beer. I'm not normally a crier but when I hear a sad story or when other people are crying...I waterworks start going. I don't listen to folk.

I had a crush on about half a dozen older girl scout girls when I was a brownie.  I am so gay...I have been driving a pickup truck with a stick for over 17 years now.

I am so not gay...I love dressing up for an evening out...dress, heels, makeup, perfume...always have...always will.

Gay.  I love Tegan and Sara,  I never wear make up, It takes me ten minutes to get ready tops, I like the L word.

Not Gay.  I hate sports,  I like my haircut to be a certain way.

1. I know more about power tools than most of my guy friends combined. I even worked at Sears in the tool section.

So Gay: If a girl I like is around I tend to get really boyish in how I dress and act, I'm more outgoing, I sit with my legs open... I kissed little girls all the time as a kid by daring them to kiss me and then acting like I was Just as grossed out... Hahahaha, what a sneaky little lothario. I love Clea Duvall, Animal, Transgeneration... I think there is nothing sexier than an androgynous girl with nice arms in a wifebeater. (& there really isn't.) Growing up, whenever I imagined myself with the fairytale-picket fence-two kids-perfect American dream, I was a single mom.

So Not Gay: I also like dressing girly (heels, make-up, dresses, the works.) I love the "V" that some guys have marking their hips. I'm attracted to guys but...

So Gay: When I think about hetero sex, I always think to myself that the prospect would be more attractive if they didn't have penises. Hello, flashing red light of obviousness.

So Gay: I love discussing queer issues, I've run into random objects on the street becuase I was staring at a pretty girl (e.i. stop sign), I love beater-like tanktops. Oh and I love flannel. Baseball rocks.

So Gay: I never talk about guys, which drives my friends crazy. I used to have my hair kinda short (bobbed) but now not so much. I'm into sport and XC but that doesn't say anything because I'm pretty sure the girls xc team and lockerroom could qualify for most homophobic place in a high school. I can't seem to grow out my nails. I played with GI Joes when I was a kid, although I don't know what I was thinking. And I fall in love with any girl that smiles at me haha.

So Not Gay: I don't dress terribly masculine, usually tight fitting clothes although I'm def an H&M person, NOT an abercrombie type. I do have the occasional sweatpants day, but doesn't everyone? I think pick-up trucks are vulgar, in their own way. I dont really like the L Word (ok, so kill me!). I'm really sappy when it comes to movies and goodbyes and love a good chick flick (but I also love a good action movie...my parents love that I like both their types of movies...I get to choose between Con Air and Chocolat...and I don't mind it!)

So gay:

Short hair, boxer briefs, played softball for most of my life, wrestled in highschool, basically played every sport... Drive a sports car that is a stick shift, work construction (serious), i play drums...and 6 more instruments,i use to mountain bike race with a sponsorship, i'm know in the gay community where i live (because EVERYONE that's gay knows each other), i love the outdoors, i have been the "guy" in most of my relationships (even when i dated guys), Joan Jett is my Role Model, i love to work on cars... my dream car is an el camino with an 383 iroc engeine :DDDD and i want it purple

not gay:

well...i'm not gay first off...

I'm white, but I can handle black guys so much easier than white guys, because they aren't corny or hyper when they are intoxicated.; 4. I'm not a vegetarian nor am I an activist for anything.; 5. I have more straight girl friends than I do gay. (Well, as far as I know haha.); 6. I don't shop in the men's section except when looking for shoes sometimes.; 7. I like going to clubs and dancing with boys.; 8. I enjoy and have never cursed the color pink.; 9. I think boys are hot, occasionally.; 10. I can't think of a tenth, ha, because I'm pretty gay.

So Gay: I check out women all the time. I fel in love with a girl when i was 13. A girl brokemy heart when i was 15. love woman. I have an unhealthy obsession with Lily Allen -OMG i'm in love with her-. love every movie with Angelina Jolie in it. I played with cars when i was little, I also looked like a little boy -but a cute one though-.

So NOT Gay: I like to dress up and do my make up. Hve never been to a Gay club or bar  I have no gay friends -only bi-. Flirt with guys -but only because i like the attention and it is fun.-

so gay: i am a sucker for ladies (especially the strait ones: mothernature's curse) . I like to do things for a lady like take her bookbag for her. my last one I loved I used to open the door for her, or get her plate for her so she would not have to.lite a cigaratte for a lady. small things like that.

not so gay: I love fashion , I love to wear make-up, dress up and look nice. I'll check out men, that is as far as it goes. I use to have subscribtions to vogue , elle, and harper's bazaar. I love designers like christian doir, valinteneo, balencia, ralph lauren, giana verscase, and christian larcoxous. the devil wears prada is my favorite movie. I love huate couture.

so gay: I am into strength and sports. I don't act like a sissy. I am eager to be in a rewarding career. I think my biological clock is broken. I don't have a desire to bear children.I rather have a wife and if she wants kids I'll support that.

I'm so gay that I don't clip my nails, I file them. I hate white showing...weird I know.

Gay-I LOOOOOVE Leisha Hailey. I support more lesbian artists (musicians, actresses) than I support straight ones. Women's voices make me weak in the knees.  I like sports and video games.

Not Gay-I'm one of those gay girls who looks straight. I had long hair for a while (although I cut it shoulderlength for work), I wear makeup everyday, and like to wear cute tops and tight jeans. All of my friends are straight. Tibette and Shane (on the L Word) do absolutely nothing for me.
