PG-13 Lesbian MoviesHey Everyone, I was wondering if there were any other Lesbian movies that were rated PG-13 besides DEBS. Simply curious here because I get this feeling that Lesbian plot is not taken as lightly at straight plot. I think "But I'm a cheerleader" was rated PG-13, but I'm not sure... Thanks! Actually
Well
Actually, I believe Imagine Me & You is rated R for language.
Depends on what you are looking for
If you are looking for comedies, I can't help you but if you are looking for good dramas that feature queer female teens, there are 2 excellent ones out there that might be PG-13. I'm not sure though because both are foreign.
Supervoksen (Super Grown Up) is a Danish film about three teen-aged girls, one of whom - Sofie - is reluctantly coming to terms with being gay. It's out on DVD and in torrent but I don't know if either is subtitled in English. There is usually a subtitled version on YouTube. It can be a tough movie to watch, the girls are sometimes cruel in the awful way teens can be, but ultimately it is well worth seeking out. And Sofie's first kiss is priceless!
The other one is F**king Amal (Show Me Love), a Swedish film about two teen girls who form a friendship that evolves into something a bit more. The title has to do with the deadly dull city in which they live and that classic teen desire to get out of where you are from in order to create a life in which you can be who you feel you really are. Again, it's available on dvd & torrent; I saw it subtitled on YouTube but I think it's also been on cable either in the US or Canada.
Hope this is some help!
Im having a hard time
Im having a hard time thinking of any that are PG 13.... Kissing Jessica Stein maybe?

I haven't seen the commentary but it sounds like she might not have given much context to that statement. She may well be right but it's not because she's made the first PG 13 film with queer female content. Far from it. Those films are out there, just without the label/rating. I'm no expert & came up with two right away. Someone who really knows this subject can easily do better.
The thing about the ratings is that it is a "voluntary" process to submit your film to the ratings board. I put that in quotes because if you want to get your film into the multiplex you got to get it rated. So, many indie, and most foreign, film-makers don't submit their films because they are not going into the multiplexes. If your film is headed off to the film festival circuit or to the indie art houses, why bother with the time and expense of submitting your film and then cutting, and re-cutting it to fix the random standards of the rating board. Especially when you know ahead of time that those folks are cool with women getting dismembered but let two women snog? Ehh, no.
Just for fun, you might want to email your question to Wolfe Bideo. If anyone would know - they would!
