That young blonde girl who was trying to seduce one of Carla's girlfriends. She was obvisoulsy straight, but seemed to start getting confused. What was the deal with her?

Aya, I think you may be referring to Vanessa. She was Carla's step-daughter I believe. Carla was in love with Hanna but married some man (I forgot his name) because her family didn't know she was gay. The man she married had a daughter, Vanessa, who for some reason tried to or succeeded in seducing one of Carla's girlfriends, Anke. I don't speak German so I'm not sure if Vanessa was really gay or what. I also think she may have had a crush on Carla but then again, I'm not sure.

Vanessa's been gone for a long time, at least for two years, Carla kicked her (and Vanessa's father who she had married to uphold a straight facade) out of the castle (Carla is a countess) when she found out they were really nothing but grifters who had conned her (and her wealthy family) as well. Carla came out of the closet after that - she had made little steps out of the closet before - with her family - but when Bernd and Vanessa were gone, she didn't hide anymore.

Her first true love, Hanna, had died tragically and quite unexpectedly. Carla had planned to come out for Hanna, she wanted to live with her, openly, but after Hanna's death Carla was too troubled and too destroyed to even try, plus her conniving brother and her alibi fiancé (future husband) did everything they could to keep her in the closet.

Carla had a pretty steamy affair with Anke Hoffman, but it was just an affair, and she ended it when Anke came on to Vanessa - Vanessa played gay in order to get rid of Anke who threatened her and her father's comfortable life at the castle. She figured that if Carla came out or fell in love with Anke, there would not be a place for her at the castle anymore.

Then Susanne Brandner came into Carla's life - Susanne had been with men all her life, but she fell in love with Carla at first sight. She was a single mother, supporting her family by driving a taxi cab, and one day a beautiful blonde woman (Carla) hopped into her car - and the rest is history. Carla did not fall in love with Susanne right away, they became friends, and when Susanne confessed her love, Carla was not ready for a relationship yet, Hanna was still her one true love.

But with time, she started to realize she was in love with Susanne as well, and they became a couple, they even got married - there was quite a hype in the media about the wedding episodes - later they had a child together, a girl, Sophia, and all would have been awesome if the storyliners hadn't decided to use that stupid old cliché to bring a man (Lars) into the relationship. The sperm donor, no less, and Hanna's former lover, the guy who lost Hanna when she fell in love with Carla. I'll spare you the gory details - sadly Carla and Susanne are no longer a couple, even though Susanne did fight for Carla till the end - but Carla couldn't trust her wife anymore after Susanne had kissed Lars. Susanne stayed with Lars for a little while, but she still loved Carla. She broke up with Lars, but Carla's trust couldn't be won back. They got a divorce, and Susanne left the city.

I really loved Carla & Susanne. I really hate unimaginative storyliners.

Carla's been a main character on this daytime soap opera for a few years, and she's always been a lesbian, there was never a doubt. This in itself is a great thing and quite unusual. Plus the actress plays the role really well, and she has a lot of fans.

I was keeping up with the current episodes on youtube, but last week the person's account who post the episode was deleted.  Does anybody know where we can watch Verobtene Liebe?

CarlaFreak, I watched your clips of Carla and Susanne, Carla and Hanna etc. but do not know what is a Carla storyline now. Is she having a new love interest or any love interest at all? Thx.

I was wondering, however, if there was anyone who could tell me if the DVD's of the different seasons had english subtitles available? As far as I can tell from Amazon.de they don't (I tried asking Amazon.de but I didnt get a reply), but I just wanted to ask here incase someone could tell me different.

Keeva99, I doubt the DVDs have English subtitles, but I don't know for sure. What I can tell you is that these aren't DVDs of the whole seasons, but just special occasion-releases, for example: episode 3000. This particular DVD has three episodes and a Making of (a storyline taking place in Paris - not with Claudia/Carla).

diotima, Carla doesn't have a new storyline yet. The old head storyliner apparently didn't know what to do with her - a shame really - moreover, Verbotene Liebe has a young gay couple now (Christian and Oliver), maybe they thought a lesbian AND a gay couple would be too much. *rolls eyes* But ... *drum roll* Verbotene Liebe has a new head storyliner now, and already Carla is feeling lonely, longing for romance and being with a woman. :) She makes a few tentative steps towards one particular woman, Stella, but so far we don't know where this is going. Finally something is happening again. It will be be a few more weeks, though, before the storyline begins.

Today Carla and Stella met for the first time. Not the most auspicious first meeting... :) But certainly a classic beginning for a soap couple in the making.

First we see Stella (who's new in town) with her cousin Gregor. Gregor wants Stella to stay in Duesseldorf, so she applies for a job in hospital administration. The problem with Stella is that she often talks without thinking first - so even though she is totally qualified for the job, she spoils the opportunity when she gives her employer-to-be a piece of her mind (Stella always fights for the socially disadvantaged, e.g. homeless people, and gets a little, shall we say, blunt, when she suspects people of not caring the way she does.)

After the botched job interview, Stella drives to Castle Koenigsbrunn - and while doing so, she splashes an unsuspecting jogger with mud. The jogger - Carla - is furious, Stella half-heartedly apologizes which makes Carla even more furious. Like I said - not the most auspicious first meeting...

Carla's brother, Leonard, later suggests that Stella should apply for a job at Koenigsbrunn, as the administrator of the estate - she is more than qualified, but Carla has the final say on who gets hired.

And Carla is still enraged about Stella's earlier behaviour...

 

I've been waiting for this. I speak nan a word of German but I've watched all the subtitled Carla relationship videos. Carla is like the crazy hot German version of Bette. Woman has swagger.

I agree it's a great soap beginning. All the great soap pairings start off with a little antagonism. Good stuff.

On a completely shallow note, Stella is the most aesthetically pleasing (to me )of all her female lovers.

Today's Carla & Stella scenes revealed a Carla who is completely against hiring Stella as the administrator of the estate, even though she is perfectly qualified for the job. Her family cannot understand why she dislikes Stella so much and everyone keeps badgering Carla to please have a look at the application papers.

It should be mentioned that Carla has been feeling really lonely lately, she's buried herself in work, and it's all finally getting to her - maybe a part of her irritation stems from her discontent and frustration?!

In the end, Carla agrees to give Stella a chance - but she says, she will keep a very close eye on her. I just bet she will. ;)

  I've begun watching this lately and its really very good. Personally, I can't stomach American soaps anymore, but British and German are great. I like the addition of Stella, I like the tension that's slowly growing between Carla and Stella (though right now it seems more like antagonism), and I have faith in the fact that they'll carry the relationship through. During the preparations for the masquerade ball, Carla catches Stella off guard in an intimate situation. Afterwards Carla seems to avoid a close collaboration with Stella which makes Stella come to the conclusion that Carla has fallen in love with her. Even though she initially decides not to confront Carla with this suspicion, she suddenly asks her whether she has fallen in love with her.

February 17

Carla surprises Stella by openly confessing her feelings. While Stella is scared to hurt Carla with a rebuff, Carla is unsure how to act around Stella from now on. Eventually Stella is relieved when Carla clarifies that she will handle the situation like an adult and that she does not expect Stella to feel the same way.

 

Stella then makes friends with Charlie, the two of them spend some time together, and "all of a sudden" Stella sees Charlie - who is heterosexual by the way - with different eyes. :)

I think that we will get "Carla & Stella" eventually - I'm a bit surprised that the writers take an unexpected turn here. It's certainly an interesting twist, though.

  These spoilers are a little confusing to say the least. But I guess we'll just have to see how they play out. A lot of times here in the US, the spoilers and what actually occurs on-screen bare little resemblance to each other or have been greatly exagerated.

   It'll be interesting to see how the Stella/ Charlie spoiler plays out, since Charlie seems old enough to be her mother and is completely straight. Not sure why Stella would even try to go there, unless Carla does something that pushes her away.
