San Francisco AfterEllen.com Meet-up Details

We'll be having an AfterEllen.com meet-up in San Francisco on Sunday, June 22, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Lookout, located at 3600 16th Street at Market Street in the Castro. Stop by to meet Karman Kregloe, Bridget McManus, Malinda Lo, Sarah Pecora and other fabulous AE community members! You'll also have a chance to win two tickets to a preview screening of Angelina Jolie's Wanted in San Francisco on June 26.

Where is this? The Lookout (which used to be known as the Metro) is on the corner of 16th Street and Market in the Castro; it's an upstairs bar/restaurant above the Squat and Gobble restaurant. The very kind manager has reserved a space for us in the balcony area between the restaurant and the bar.

When is it? Sunday, June 22 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. You should get there early, because the Lookout has a regular Sunday afternoon party that starts between 3-4 p.m., and they start carding at 3 p.m. If you are under 21, you need to make sure to get there before 3 p.m. You can stay for the party after 4 p.m. if you'd like; apparently it's a good one (but it's not a lesbian party).

How do I get there? Take the Muni to Castro Street Station (go here for public transit info) and walk one block northeast down Market to the intersection of Market, 16th and Noe. Here's a map of the Lookout. We do not advise driving, since June 22 is the opening weekend of the Frameline film festival and the Castro will likely be crowded. Besides, have you tried parking in San Francisco? It's not fun!
