Pepa and Silvia on Los Hombres de PacoI haven't seen this posted anywhere on AE, but I stumbled across a lesbian story on a Spanish television show called Los Hombres de Paco. Since I don't know Spanish, I have no idea what the story consists of or what the actresses are saying, but it seems as if the two characters, Pepa and Silvia, have fallen for each other. The two actresses are beautiful, and they are really selling the romantic angle of the story (again, I don't know Spanish so the dialogue might be terrible). But just to reiterate, the two actresses are gooorgeous. In a recent episode they kissed for the first time. The scene has been posted here on YouTube. I think it's very well done. Again, don't know anything about the plot and whatnot. Anyone who knows Spanish want to translate?

Los Hombres de Paco - storyline Pepa/Silvia
"Los Hombres de Paco" is a dramedy about a demoted police comissioner (Paco) and his squad. Among them are forensic expert SILVIA (the redhead) and fellow cop PEPA. /(I'm not going into the family relations, which are a little complicated)
The build up of the storyline has been slow and very well done (and is a welcome change to the current events on the other lesbian-famed Spanish TV show, Hospital Central). More information, video links etc. can be found in the Hombres de Paco section of the Maca/Esther board (in Spanish): http://maca-esther.mforos.com/549256/7186152-los-hombres-de-paco-relacio... --- including video links to all the scenes the women have had together.
There's also a new board (also in Spanish) dedicated to their relationship, at http://pepaysilvia.mforos.com
As for the recent episode (Nr. 69), --- brief and very much sumarized version here --- it ranks around Paco's boss and father-in law (currently sleepin in Paco's living room on the pull-out bed) suspecting that his beloved granddaughter Sara (another young cop/aspiring cop with the squad) might have something with the out lesbian Pepa. This leads to him snooping after them, looking through the keyhole, etc. and doing a gruel male-reframing of an otherwise very tender, credible lesbian love scene that makes the plotline probably easier to swallow for macho viewers, but gave me some stomach acid burns.
Oh well. Focus on the women and hope it can be read as subversive...
In the beginning of the ep, Pepa and Silvia have a date, but Silvia (formerly dating men) in the end doesn't show up, because of comments of their co-worker Rita who sees Silvia and declares that "he will drop dead when he sees you". Nicely cut scene of both of them waiting and being insecure.
Next thing, awkward meeting in the elevator at the precinct; Silvia says she didn't show up because she had an autopsy (lie), Pepa says it doesn't matter, she bar-hopped with "her friend Maca from Sevilla" (lie; but nice hat-tip to Hospital Central).
When Pepa wants to take out the granddaughter (Sara) to a street festival/dance (verbena), the worried grandfather thrusts Silvia as a third wheel at them (or so he thinks).
Last scene: after the party night, all three woman arrive at Paco's place, so the grandfather is listening to the whole scene.
Sara gets a text message (it is 2 a.m.), Pepa says that Sara has got to have a boyfried, Sara responds that she thinks Pepa needs a new girlfriend and goes to bed, leaving Pepa and Silvia and a whole lot of UST alone.
Now to the youtube scene lined above:
Pepa announces that she'll go take off her make-up, Silvia says she'll go home to her place. Pepa wishes her a good night ("que descanses" - may you rest well) and tells her "until tomorrow"
Silvia, alone, then has a change of heart and follows Pepa into the bathroom (privacy in Spanish households... nearly impossible).
Pepa: hey...
Silvia: hey...
Pepa. is something going on with you? (Te pasa algo?)
Silvia: (smoldering look)
(...)
Pepa: ...a few demake-up towels?
Silvia (clicks tongue=Spanish for "no")
the rest of their scenes in the episode, as well as the episodes building up to this one are well worth the watching (and learning Spanish, if necessary) - videos are available at the above mentioned two boards. Enjoy! - hope this helps...
Cheers,
Nordie (who can't believe she finally registered because of THIS, but hey...)
No tongue-clicking for "no" in english?
I can't believe I register to reply to this, either, but I wanted to be sure about something. Don't they click their tongues (twice, to be precise) to say no in english? (I'm from Spain). I love that way of saying no!!
By the way, I've never watched this show, could you tell me what's the relationship between Paco's boss and Sylvia? He was crying when he saw who was the one kissing Pepa ("doing her a favor", as we would say in spanish, would you in english?) so I guess she must be his daughter. I guess I'm going to have to watch it (Laura Sanchez is a good reason to watch it-the top model that plays Pepa).
Cheers,
Axon (why not myelin?)
Paco's boss is Silvia's
Paco's boss is Silvia's father.

I have done the same thing.
I have done the same thing. I've been on this site many times reading things but never registered. I just wanted to let you know that if you google pepsienglish channel you can watch all of the episodes on youtube with english subtitles. Alot easier to follow. It starts at the beginning of the relationship. I think they've posted about 47 clips. Have fun!
Ah, thanks for the idea. I
Ah, thanks for the idea. I have been watching the show to improve my Spanish but now I'm addicted to it! Thanks to everyone here for the translations. There are some words I needed to learn and thanks to you all, I did.

Just to let you know.
Alessia Barela, stupenda idea!
You can also go to "Antena 3" site for the TV station it runs on and see just about every episode up to the end of the last season. I have watched it all and will not give you a spoiler but the last episode is a shocker. If you understand Spanish it will just tear you apart.
Just wanted to add that there is also a beautiful lesbian relationship on the Italian TV called Terapia d'Urgenzia starring Alessia Barela and she will knock your socks off. Catch the English subs on YouTube. However on the "Rai Due" site you can see the entire series and OMG, the chemistry between Marina played by Barela and Esther played by Elisabetta Roccchetti will steam up your monitor, be warned.
Unfortunately for those of you who don't understand Italian you will have to struggle with the story line. There are definately English subs on YouTube for that too. Really don't miss Td'U it is very well directed and acted. Elisabetta Roccchetti, who has the most beautiful mouth reminds me of the old Etruscan faces on the statues of antiquity.She is stunning. The relationship between them is nuanced with class and cultural differences. For those of you who speak Spanish this is easy to follow.
Last there is Central 099 from Argentina and that story is interesting except it appears that the two protagonists are given the same script for different episodes since they take turns in torturing each other emotionally. BTW, great way to practice your Spannish. The YouTube sodes have Israeli and English subs.
hi
hi. u r right. the italian soap is great. ive watched it already on utube. im a physician and i can relate to it.
jinjam
english tongue click
We also do it
I'm from Naples (Italy) and we also click our tongue to say no :) I guess it's something we inherited in the past centuries of Spanish domination. I find it really cute.

Thanks
Thanks so much for the clarification about some things. Even though I don't understand Spanish, I still like watching clips because the two actresses have a palpable chemistry between them. I don't know what the hell is going on, but oh well! Sounds like the plot and relationships on the show are pretty complicated, but I did figure out that Pepa is a cop and Silvia is in forensics, although perhaps Silvia does some undercover work as well (the whole undercover operation at the dance club?). Anyway, it's enjoyable nonetheless. I had no idea that Pepa's character is an out lesbian. Paco and Pepa obviously have an interesting relationship.... brother and sister perhaps? I just remember watching a really powerful scene with Paco and Pepa that involved some sort of letter.
And I also didn't realize that Paco's boss was Sara's (the other girl) grandfather. The whole time I thought he was Silvia's father. He seemed pretty upset when he caught Silvia and Pepa through the keyhole (the only unpleasant part of that scene).
Ha, maybe I will learn Spanish out of necessity! Thanks Nordie!
ETA: Nordie, you posted right around the same time as me with some clarification regarding the relationships on the show. Thanks so much! That will potentially clear up alot. (I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the relations though.)

Silvia and Don Lorenzo
(reasons for registering; please shoot me now)
Silvia is indeed the daugher of "grandpa" Don Lorenzo. She is the younger sister of Lola, wife of Paco. Sara, the youngster, is Silvia's niece while Pepa is a sister of Paco himself.
For more details and higher degrees of confusion, there is also the official website at http://www.antena3.com/LosHombresDePaco/
As for tongue-clicking to say "no": I've never heard anyone not Spanish do it. Usually, it is twice, although sometimes (like Silvia does in this episode) it is shortened to one. Perhaps that is slang... (both variations can be rdiculously sexy, though)
In English, I'm much more used to a "mmm-mm" hum in the throat to signify "no". Tongue-clicking signifies disapproval, according to my experience.
making out with your brother in law's sister?
Thanks to this show (and to you, Nordie) I'm not going to need my "brain training". So Sylvia is making out with her brother in law's sister? This is when I learn how to translate "concuñada"?
Breakerfall, are you sure you want to start your spanish lessons with this show? The plot is too much!! We had another famous out lesbian character on a spanish tv show, "7 vidas". Anabel Alonso is not as cute as Laura Sanchez, but she is really funny
If I had known.....
Yeah, probably not. I wish I had taken Spanish and not French in high school and college. Not that I can even understand French with all the courses I took (I have a bad memory), but maybe it would have helped with the Silvia/Pepa scenes to have gone the Spanish route. If only I had known! Clearly, taking Spanish would have been the more practical decision anyway, but c'est la vie. (C'mon, I remembered some French.)
Betty, thank you so much for the chart! It made me chuckle but it was oh so helpful. Thanks to Nordie and everyone else for helping out as well.
Laura Sanchez is certainly a beauty, (love Patricia Vico on HC too... another show I don't understand, but watch clips of anyway), and Sanchez should be commended for her expressive acting skills since it sounds like she's just a beginner on the acting scene, but gosh, I'm just a sucker for Marian Aguilera. She's just so stunning and vulnerable and.... okay, I'll stop now. Of course, the bathroom scene is terrific, but it's the scene at the door, where Silvia hesitates and decides to run after Pepa... that really gets me. Just the plethora of feelings that you can see on Silvia's face as she decides what to do. Wonderful acting.

I only had the chance to watch this show in youtube, thanks for the people who uploaded the series. But there are so many cuts. I hope I can watch the full story....
One thing more, I am dieing to have a copy of its full version, do you know where can I find one?
Thanks!

The complicated relationships
The relationships in the show are so complicated that I have to draw a chart to comprehend:
More info from http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_hombres_de_Paco
I don't understand why Don would suspect Sara have some sort of a fling with Pepa. Pepa is Sara's aunt!
Kinda funny to be in Sara's position. Your two aunts are getting it on with each other :D
Is it just me or the actress who plays Silvia is like Amy Adams' long lost twin?
When I first saw the actress who plays Pepa, I thought: "She's gotta be a model." And it turns out she is! What a beauty. She and Nines (Chica busca chica) are my dream macho femmes <3
I love the lap dance scene when Silvia gets jealous, hee!
I don't understand Spanish much anyway but the amazing chemistry between Pepa and Silvia alone is worth seeing.
Hospital Central, Chica busca chica and now this show. I love Spain!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
""My love life is terrible. The last time I was inside a woman was when I visited the Statue of Liberty."
I'm going to see Nines tomorrow!
Hi, Betty:
I'm with you, Pepa and Nines are really cute (and Maca in "Hospital Central"). Only the first is a model, the other two are actresses. Nines is playing a role on stage in Madrid, and I'm going to see that play tomorrow, with my girlfriend.
You're right, Sylvia (Marian Aguilera) looks a lot like Amy Adams, She's a tv actress.
We're having a lot of lesbians and gays on tv shows in Spain, and in really popular ones. I like that a lot. We need more visibility, and people are getting used to these kind of relationships thanks to roles like Maca or Pepa, or the one Anabel Alonso played on "7 vidas" (she's a great comedian). And one of the most popular idols on "operación triunfo" (the spanish equivalent for American Idol) was Tania G.: everybody liked her (she lost because she's not a very good singer, but everybody thought she was great. And she was always talking about her girlfriend. They even thought another idol was falling in love with her, and there was a lot of gossip around that).
Cheers
Pepa, Sara, Silvia
I don't understand why Don would suspect Sara have some sort of a fling with Pepa. Pepa is Sara's aunt!
thanks for the chart, Betty! that saves us all a lot of further headaches.
As for Pepa and Sara: Lorenzo is worried the whole episode that Pepa might "corrupt" Sara; he keeps watching them suspiciously and even has one big hallucination where he imagines Pepa and Sara getting into a ice-cream battle in their underwear (really weird - cue Girls Gone Wild).
That Laura Sánchez is a model (although I think P. Vico (Maca on HC) used to be a model as well... no?) struck me after seeing her upper arms - much too thin for a gun-wielding cop, and even for an actress. ;-)
As far as acting goes, I prefer Marián Aguilera, her range especially in that last episode was impressive. Of course, it's a difference between coming fresh of the runway and being a trained actor/actress, and Sánchez is doing a great job. (with a range that, e.g. & IMHO, C. Cerezuela on HC (another model-turned-actress) is lacking completely).
Models acting
Err..
I'm quite sure that wasn't a hallucination..They did get into an ice-cream fight in their pijamas, but he believed it was going further even thought that would be incest. He really thought low of Pepa back in the days..
"Que quiero decir que toquetear a una mujer no es que sea malo...sobretodo si está viva!"
Thanks for that!
Don is not a name
"Respect may not always be mutual, but it is user friendly"
Don is not a name it is the opposite of Dona it is "a title of respect" MR Lorenzo is a man of stature a Don if you will like Don Juan or Dona Merced
also
"Respect may not always be mutual, but it is user friendly"
Lucas who is now married to sarah was once married to sylvia (before pepa of course) so lucas was Mr lorenzos son in law . . . also Montoya and sylvia were once an Item she was prego with his child when she suffered a gun shot wound to her tummy and lost the baby and can no longer have babies Its up to pepa to have one for them
Hmm
Hmm, although there's something a bit Maxim-esque about Carolina Cerezuela, I thought that she did a very good job in the role of Vero. I love Maca/Esther but Maca/Vero is sizzling :)
Lauren Sanchez is thin but she looks athletic and not frail so I totally buy her as a cop. And I didn't guess she was a model because she's thin but because she's so tall!
I don't follow the show but it is obvious that Don doesn't like Pepa from early on. Is it because she's a lesbian? Pepa is a new character this season, right?
One of my most favorite scenes is the paso doble dance. Elegant, passionate and sexy, just like the people :). Does anyone else think that Pepa played around a bit with her dance partner to make Silvia jealous?
Watching this show makes me glad that I took Spanish in high school and college, even though I can understand only like 10%, haha. Breakerfall, it's never too late to do anything. With an increasing number of (good) Spanish TV series that feature lesbian characters, lesbian/bi viewers everywhere should learn Spanish!
Thanks to the pepaysilvia website that I can watch their scenes because somehow I can't watch on the official website and I'm only interested in watching these two anyway :)
Is the next episode on tomorrow? I saw the preview with Silvia questioning her sexual orientation & her and Pepa making out. Can't wait!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
""My love life is terrible. The last time I was inside a woman was when I visited the Statue of Liberty."
Sylvia, Don Lorenzo and the next episode
Breakerfall, about Marian Aguilera: she was on a very popular tv show called "al salir de clase" (like a spanish version or Beverly Hills 90210 or save by the bell), and there was a lesbian on the show that fell in love with her. Nothing happened between the two of them, but it is kind of ironic that years later, on a different show, she seems falling for a girl. Marian is cute, and a good actress, but I prefer Laura.
Betty: I haven't watched the show before this episode, but I think, from Don Lorenzo's reflections, that he is having a problem with the lesbian issue because his morality is too strict. At the end of the episode, though, he seems to start questioning his beliefs, to be fighting with himself: he asks himself what's the point of trying too hard to inject virtue to secure happiness when nobody can guarantee that you'll be happy with it. He seems to be a stern man starting to doubt. And Sylvia is her daughter (I hope she is, or I have a problem here!!), so he is going to have trouble with her relationship with Pepa (if they have one at the end. From the preview it seems that Sylvia is starting to question her sexuality). I think the next episode is next wednesday

Help
I've been trying like crazy to be able to watch the ep online, but I can't. I assume that is because my ip is not from Spain. Has someone else with a non-Spain ip tried to see it with success???
If someone knows how to see it with a non-Spain ip could you please PM me to tell me.
I have seen all eps since Pepa came to the show and I love the story and Pepa's character!!!
Thanks!
Thanks for bringing this
Thanks for bringing this over here Noridica!
I have just recently been turned onto this show by a Maca/Esther forum. It looks like a great show. I have been really confused by the relations on this show, so the diagram Betty put up really helped. Thanks!
Both actresses are beautiful and I happen to think that Silvinia (Marian Aguilera) looks like Isla Fisher...only cuter!
And by the by, why was Don Lorenzo sleeping in the same house with Paco, Sara, Pepa, etc.? The night Pepa and Silvia kissed in the bathroom, they had to sneak around because Don Lorenzo was sleeping on the couch! WTF?
-Rebecca
I vow to become fluent in
I vow to become fluent in Spanish in two months. People will ask me how and I will tell them from watching Spanish TV lesbian couples on youtube. They will be amazed. Thanks Betty for the encouragement!
I have so many questions regarding this show (many that have already been asked by other AE posters in this thread), that it's getting ridiculous:
Why the Don Lorenzo hate for Pepa? (thanks axon for touching on that a little bit)
A few episodes back, did Silvia confess to her sister that she had feelings for Pepa, or that she suspected that Pepa had feelings for her?
Did Pepa and Silvia know each other as teenagers? Was Silvia Pepa's first love? Did they kiss when they were teenagers? Did Pepa realize she was a lesbian because of her love for Silvia as a teen? (I'm probably making this up in my own mind, but I've been deciphering bits and pieces from message boards to come to these conclusions. I'm probably way off, but I kinda like these plot points, even if I have made them up.)
Why IS Don Lorenzo sleeping in the same house with Paco, Sara, Pepa, and Lola?
Could these two actresses be any hotter? (by the way, thanks axon for the info on Marian Aguilera. I didn't realize she was also in a movie with Paul Bettany, Willem Dafoe, and Clive Owen called The Reckoning. But that was in 2003 I think. Yeah, I looked her up on IMDB.)
Oh, and I promise I have a life. Really. I do. Promise.
Hope it helps...
Good Luck with your Spanish, probably is going to be better than mine soon!
It certainly does help!
PEPA,SILVIA AND DON LORENZO
Hi!
I don't know if any of you has posted this already (if so, sorry for being repetitive), don lorenzo hates pepa because he caught she and his daughter(silvia) kissing each other in Saras's first communion party.
Marian Aguilera played a lesbian character in a Catalonian tv serie(or maybe daily soap-opera)
And for those of you who(like me)don't understand spanish very much there are clips on youtube with subtitles in English for Hospital Central(I haven't found for Los Hombres de Paco yet)
Have anice day girls!!!
p.s.Axon, i've registered myself to comment here too!!
I've watched all the
Non Pepa/Silvia related
Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering why Lucas & Sara have to keep their affair kind of a secret? Is that because Lucas is Silvia's ex-husband? (I seriously can't keep up with the show's crazy entangled relationships!) Why did they get divorced?
Are you talking about Tania S? I have watched Tania G's elimination clip and I seriously thought Tania S was at least a bit in love with her (who wouldn't anyway, she's adorable <3). The audience went crazy when Tania G hugged and gave Tania S a quick goodbye kiss. Awesome!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
""My love life is terrible. The last time I was inside a woman was when I visited the Statue of Liberty."
Tania S. and Tania G.
Yes, betty, the one I was talking about was Tania S. There are some scenes of them hugging and being really cuddly, but it is very normal for spanish girls to be very affectionate with their friends. You could think by the way she looked at her friend that she is in love with her, but it could be only platonic and not sexual. Tania S. (allegedly heterosexual) keeps telling her how cute she is, and she even told her how she wished to cut her in peaces and eat her. You are going to think with this that she must be madly in love (or nuts!!), but the thing is that Tania S. is from Andalusia, the southern region of Spain, and people there are very passionate and exaggerated, really extreme (and very funny, they are the best telling jokes). I know it for sure , I'm from that region though I live in Madrid.
The gossip was not only because of the way Tania S looks at Tania G, and what she tells her. One of them was going to be eliminated the next day, and Tania S. asked Tania G. if they could sleep together that night, their last night. Tania G. looked like she thought it was not the best idea, though Tania S. was her best friend inside the Academy. People thought that Tania G. was cheeting on her girlfriend, whom she declared being madly in love with. The girlfriend was asked about this during the show, and she said that she was sure they were only good friends. Maybe Tania S harbors some feelings for her friend (though she keeps telling she loves guys), but I don't think Tania G. is in love with her.
Tania G. was eliminated, but she was one of the favorites. Not a very good singer, but one of the most popular idols for her friendliness and charm (not only wih Tania S. !!!) She has helped a lot in the visibility issue. Ironically, we are protected by our law in everyway (we can marry and adopt children, nobody can fire you because of your sexual orientation, and so on), we are present in the media, but socially gays are not visible yet, only in great cities, and not always. Specially gay women. But it is changing day by day. The media are helping a lot.
Super-affectionate
Good Lord! If Spanish girls are super-affectionate and cuddly like that how does gaydar work then?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
""My love life is terrible. The last time I was inside a woman was when I visited the Statue of Liberty."
the spanish gaydar
Not all the spanish girls are like Tania S, but it is kind of frequent to see it . Not the kiss in the mouth; that's what left everybody wondering. And the way she loooks at her friend, more than the cuddling or her words (we, andalusians, are supposed to be exagerated). A kiss in the mouth among friends is only normal with lesbian or gay friends (and in big cities like Madrid): it doesn't mean you're romantically involved, but one of the kissers is supposed to be gay to do that. Not the other. Everybody says hi to their friends with one or two kisses on the cheak, not in the mouth.
As for our gaydar, it's more or less the same as in the states. But your can't deduce somebody is a lesbian because she hugs a lot or she hold hands with a friend: we do that frequently (though not everybody)
Age
Betty: is because of that and because he is older than she.
I think that there's a plot hole on the show (or maybe I didn't get it right). When D.Lorenzo caught them, Pepa was 18, and Sara was supposes to be 9 years old. If it was 8 years ago, Pepa is now 27 and Sara is 17. I think that it's impossible,isn't it??
Age
Betty: Paco promised Lucas's father that if anytime something happened to him, Paco would look after Lucas because he hadn't any other relative. (it's a bit more complicated, but that's what is important), so Lucas's is kind of a son to Paco (I hope it answers you).and of course because he is older than Sara

English Subtitles on YouTube!
Looks like a very kind and wonderful person has decided to translate the Pepa/Silvia scenes into English. She's only posted one video so far, but I'm hoping there are more to come. Very exciting indeed. Leave comments so she'll post more!
You can either go to youtube and search her name 'rogueamph' and her channel will come up, or just go here.
Thanks for bringing that
Thanks for bringing that link here Breakerfall. I understand most of what is said but I need the translations to get everything.
I had no idea that Lucas was married to Silvia. So that means Sara is in love with her much older uncle...ex-uncle?! Such an incestuous web this show weaves.
And if Sara is 17 then why or how does she work for the police or where ever they all work? I'm so confused!

Pepa breaks my heart when she says she is in love with Silvia "como un perra". *sobs*
Silvia needs to stop freaking out about labels and should just consider herself Pepasexual.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
""My love life is terrible. The last time I was inside a woman was when I visited the Statue of Liberty."
Pepasexual indeed.
Pepasexual.
That word pretty much made my morning. Thank you Betty. Silvia is definitely pepasexual, and she needs to own it.
And it looks like Pepa and Silvia are already utilizing countertops. Nice. Crazy chemistry between these two.
The look on Pepa's face after they get caught is priceless.
NEW EPISODE SUMMARY (SPOILERS)
Yesterday I tried to shorthand the new episode (and I don’t know any shorthand!!). My girlfriend was laughing by my side. Here is the result, Nordie’s style (hope it helps, girls):
Pepa and Sylvia are having breakfast with Paco and Don Lorenzo. Both have a big smile on their faces. Silvia is thinking that for Pepa it is only a fling, that Pepa doesn’t do relationships. Pepa is thinking that for Sylvia it is just a way of experimenting. Don Lorenzo is thinking that he is going squeeze Pepa’s brains and make juice with it!! Silvia is leaving the house, and Pepa tries to accompany her. But Silvia hesitates, and she doesn’t at the end. Don Lorenzo and Paco are alone. Paco tries to talk, but Don Lorenzo wants to forget everything: for him, they were just helping each other to undress or something of the kind.
At work, Pepa gives Silvia a portfolio. There is a message inside: I’m dying to kiss you. (Smoldering look of Pepa to Silvia).Later, while Silvia is analyzing some samples at the laboratory, Pepa comes to see her. Smoldering look again. They start flirting -S.: what does this mean to you? a) an affair (un rollo) b) a fling with your boss (un escarceo amoroso con tu superior)-P.: and to you? a) it’s just a let’s-try (un “por- probar”) b) an exotic adventure (una aventura exótica) They kiss passionately. They start making out on the table. José Luis, an absent minded partner (“povedilla” for everybody), kind of a weirdo or a nerd (there are lots of them in this dramedy), that almost killed Silvia before in an accident with his gun, finds them making out; he trips and he gets injured. They try to help him. While Sylvia is healing him (Pepa has already left), she tries to explain everything.
-S: we were kissing
-JL: laboral warmth/affection (cariño) is good
-S: it wasn’t a kiss from warmth. I just implore you one thing: keep the secret, at least for some time.
-JL: of course, Inspector
Pepa gets in when he leaves.
-Have you tortured him or did you buy his silence?
-I begged him to be discreet, until we make up our minds (hasta que tengamos las ideas claras= until our ideas are clear, literally) ( And she starts closing the window’s blind).
-For you making up your mind is closing the blinds?
-You are a crackpot (una bala perdida; literally a stray bullet), and I’m heterosexual. So it is better if we are discreet until we make up our minds.
-Talk about you, I’ve already made up my mind: If I kiss you three more times, I’m going to fall madly in love with you ( voy a enamorarme de ti como una perra-literally, like a female dog. In Spanish, it’s a very passionate way of saying it) (smoldering look). So when you make up your mind, come and get me. You know where to find me.
Silvia is really confused. She needs to speak to JL: when she sees Pepa, she only thinks about kissing her. But she needs to close the blinds, so that means she is afraid. But she likes her a lot. The way she looks at her, the way she kisses, the way she puts her hand inside her shirt…She gaves her goose bumps. “Until yesterday…” -
JL: I can only say that you must follow your heart (debes seguir los dictámenes de tu corazón- a cheesy way of saying it)
-S: I’ve always done that, and it only gave me pain (me ha ido fatal)
Don Lorenzo sees that Silvia is kissing JL on the cheak. Astonished, he asks him. JL tells him that she was only trying to clear out her doubts. Don Lorenzo says that JL has become Silvia’s racquet-ball/squash/pelota for matters of the heart (frontón sentimental) (too much for my English skills!!). He begs for his help; he needs him to wear an ear-bud so he can direct JL while he speaks to Silvia; that way, he will follow the right line.
Silvia and JL are at a Café Bar. He is really nervous (feeling like a spy, with his ear-bud and Don Lorenzo directing him). He is talking nonsense. Don Lorenzo wants him to tell Silvia that she is rushing. But JL changes his mind. He tells Silvia that he ratifies what he said before. That she must throw herself into it (Don Lorenzo shouts). Silvia asks him if he’s sure that what Silvia feels is not a whim (DL- tell her it is!!). He replies that he thinks it’s not, that he has seen the way they look at each other. (DL keeps on shouting).
While Silvia goes to the Toilet, JL tells DL that he thinks that the problem is that DL can’t stand the idea of his daughter kissing another woman, that he has a homophobic discourse, even against our Constitution!! (remember this is a dramedy, I laughed with his way of saying this). DL says that he will be laid of with no salary for some time.
Silvia comes back. She tells JL that her first kiss was the day Pepa kissed her. That she thinks she hasn’t been able to forget that kiss; from that day on, she has been shooting the wrong target. That’s why she has always been unhappy. That she likes Pepa a lot. She is what Silvia has always been looking for. She likes the way her hair smells, how she cuddles her. When she’s with her she’s sure that’s where she wants to be. But fear is restraining her. JL says that he knows a lot about fears, that fear is what keeps you apart from happiness. If that is what makes Silvia happy, she must pursue it, be where she wants to be, without fear (DL seems to resign himself).
Thanks for the translation
Axon, thank you so much for the detailed translation.
If you don't mind, can you please translate the scene at Lola's cafe when Silvia was still upset about the previous night's stakeout? Pepa said that she had no reason to stay and Silvia said something that made both of them laugh. It's in episode 65.
I find it very romantic that these two have a long history and were each other's first. Silvia was Pepa's first girl kiss and made her realize that she was a lesbian while Pepa was Silvia's first kiss and she never really got over it.
Reading Silvia's thoughts, Pepa seems to be a player. I hope that we won't have a storyline of Pepa cheating on Silvia.
