Has anyone here started a gay-straight alliance type of club at their high school? I've wanted to for a while and I just told my parents yesterday but their afraid I will be harassed, attacked or robbed of academic opportunities from teachers or administrators. What experiences have you had with starting a GSA?

at my school everyone is
at my school everyone is fairly accepting and the GSA is pretty much respected among the other clubs. our's was founded in the 70's or 80's by one of the teachers but was recently re-established and i was surprised at how many people who don't seem the type showed up. if you feel safe in your school then i see no reason not to start a GSA. also my school kinda emphasized the 'S' in GSA, so that kinda changed things
and my parents said similar things when i told them i went to the club photo for gsa and they thought i would get teased in the halls but no one cared..
GSA
I'm in a gsa but it has been around for awhile. From stories i've heard, two extremely open people started it and it did not have many members for the first couple years. Now we are really picking up steam so try not to get too discouraged if the membership is low.
Also, if you are following the school policy about clubs, theres no way they could not allow you to run it. Here's a website showing kids how:

good luck!
Thanks guys, you reaffirmed
