Anyone from Asheville?

Hi! My Mom just moved to Asheville (with her girlfriend, i love it) so I'll probably be spending some time there this summer. Just wondering where to go and what to do! I know it's really gay-friendly, but I don't know what's cool for people my age. (in college) If anyone could fill me in, I'd really appreciate it!

Welcome to NC!

Admittedly, I don't know much about the day-to-day atmosphere of Asheville, but having been to the city a few times, I can tell you the one thing I love most about it.

It's not the beautiful atmosphere.

Not the liberal people.

Nope, my favorite thing about Asheville is The Orange Peel. It is, without a doubt, one of the best venues for music in North Carolina--probably one of the best in the entire Southeast. It earned a prominent place in music history when the Smashing Pumpkins did their residencies there last June.

If you're a music fan, you should definitely check out The Orange Peel. I know Josh Ritter and Ingrid Michaelson have a show coming up, as does Missy Higgins.

Geoffrey: You fool! As if it matters how a man falls down.
Richard: When the fall is all that is left, it matters a great deal.
