News, Reviews & Commentary on Lesbian and Bisexual women in Entertainment and the Media

Reverend Wright on Bill Moyer

I tried to watch with an open mind to the hour long interview last night and I was both surprised and impressed. I found Wright to be a thoughtful, well spoken man, almost opposite to the sound bites his (and Obama's) detracters have portrayed.  I was impressed by his intelligence and knowledge of sociological issues and how he compared them to bible stories. I'm an atheist and could care less about what bibles say, but he made his analogies very interesting and I could see  how he was able to grow his church.

Did anyone else watch? I believe you can download the interview from http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/index-flash.html . Reading the transcript isn't enough, because Wright's demeanor and tone of voice are important to how  come across.

Did anyone  hear him speak

Did anyone  hear him speak live on cable next at the National Press Club?  I thought he was very impressive, especially during the question and answer period. He didn't take any crap in an assertive, yet not aggressive manner. He's a brilliant man.

Definitely.

I agree with you.

Although I obviously disagree with him on some things, I really like him. I don't care for Obama at all. But I like this man because he's openly honest and controversial and straight-talking.

I absolutely hate how the media has reduced this man's career - that has spanned decades - to a few 30 second soundbites.

I thought this (now notorious) speech was very thoughtful and powerful (yes, a whole speech, not 30 seconds of it!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOdlnzkeoyQ

I'm glad to see I'm not the

I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who feels that way about Wright. My biggest beef with him is that he threw Obama under the bus when Obama was more than fair to Wright. I am an Obama supporter.

Meh.

Meh. I thought Obama was a bit of a chickenshit but it was rather ridiculous how the media once again played the "guilty by association" card.
