So it seems as if alot of lesbians played a sport at some point, or still do. I was a swimmer in highschool (I think I might be a rare breed).
What was/is your sport? What do you think is the most common sport for lesbians?

Softball, Bowling and
Sports lover
I played on the golf team all through high school.
Recreationally only, I played basketball with neighborhood kids, and was average-good.
For viewing, I love to watch football, the X games, golf, basketball, soccer and LaCrosse when I can.
another sports lover!
I used to play basketball, then soccer and voleyball. Then I had to stop doing that kind of sport and started playing table tennis. Then I could return to soccer.
and now... well i don't practice any sport any more..... :(
Well I am still in
Well I am still in highschool, (last year).
Before I got sick I played soccer, netball and touch. I attended swimming training before school, and did long-distance running of an afternoon before my team sports. On Sundays I went to surf life saving, and occasionaly entered myself in triathlons on Saturdays. During recess at school I would train at the gym.
I really love sports, all sports really. I love it when my body aches. I dunno, I havent done anything for a while. Yeah, I am really quite scrawny now which is dissapointing.
sporty girls
I did track and field (mostly sprints/relays), netball, basketball and a wee spot of swimming at school. I spent a lot of my time outside high school at t+f training or attending competitions - was on the national schools team and training squad for a while :o)
From upper high school through to the end of my undergrad studies I was a coach/team manager/vacation sports counsellor, which was soooo much fun! I realy love to be doing that again.
Nowadays I run for fun - need to do more!!! - rollerblade in summer and swim sometimes. I love watching sports especially crazy things like skijumping or the amazingly technical like gymnastics.
I agree with edie above, the feeling after a hard circuit workout or a run is great - you can't beat it!
Volleyball
Cheerleading... :/
I only did it for 9th grade for 1 semester. It was a total bust, I only joined to make some friends. They all ended up being boring shallow rednecks. I was in really good shape though.
O wait! and Tennis & Golf & Basketball
...
I played football (soccer) in highschool :-)
"For most of history, Anonymous was a woman" - Virginia Woolf
Numerous
I played soccer, cricket, tennis, basketball and i was also into surfing, swimming, athletics, x-country, skiing and skateboarding.

everything i could
soccer, cross country, and
everything!
i think i tried just about everyhting during high school...
i was never the best at anything, but was always on the swim team, the athletics team for middle distance, cross coiuntry team. I've played netball since the minute we were allowed to start at age 9, I tried tennis, gymnastics, indoor soccer, LOVED touch rugby during high school...
and I've done jazz, tap, ballet and modern theatre dance since I was 5- but I still maintain dance isnt a sport :-)
field hockey, squash
In high school I played field hockey, squash, track and field(sprints, hurdles, middle distance, high jump and long jump). I college I played squash and basketball.
Now I play squash, road running, swimming and weight lifting. I'd love to enter figure/physique competitions(not body building) but I'm not sure I have the discipline to carry off the strict training and diet regime that goes with that...
And I must confess, I just cannot picture myself with a partner who's not active. I love fit girls
Tae kwon do...
I participated actively in badminton tournoments and also did track and field events (sprints and relays) throughout my school and college life.
Of all the sports I play, I am still a Taekwondo lover. I have been doing TKD since I was 13 before stopping for 2 years due to my busy scehdule. Anyway, I am getting back on track again and hopefully I will have my 2nd Dan by the end of 2009.
handball!
Another Swimmer!
Ancient sports
soccer! and i still manage
Also a swimmer in high
Also a swimmer in high school! (100 Butterfly, woot, woot). I suppose queer swimmers are a rare breed; I don't think anyone else on my team (in the four years I was there) was gay. Or out.
Played soccer for a bit too (like the giant closet case I was / am), but preferred to swim.
Golf, Tennis, Soccer,
Golf, Tennis, Soccer, Rugby, Surfing, Windsurfing...
anything else that wouldn't mess with my Tennis grip :D
windsufing
i think i´ve tried
i think i´ve tried windsurfing once just before i discovered i´m not very good - not to say i SUCK - with water sports. It's all for the better, since i live in a city 2 hrs away from the sea.
I´d rather snowboard (which i do, not as often as i would like to though). ;)
hah, when i first started i
hah, when i first started i dont think i was very good either. but ive been doing it since i was 10? i think, so yeah, ive gotten a little better since then. I actually team it in the summer, and what i always tell my kids is that once they accept theyre gona be in the water just as much if not more than theyre going to be on the board when they first start, then theyll do fine. :)
snowboardings fun, but i am a little bias toward skiing, have been doing it since i was 3 and raced all through highschool. I go to school up where its cold, but sadly not many mountains close by. all the snow is just a tease haha.
Sports...
i play competitive in swimming mostly freestyle and butterfly, badminton local tournaments, as well as tennis, and soccer
as for leisure, surfing, skateboarding, wakeboarding, golf, sailing platu, ultimate frisbee and eventually i would like to add snowbaording!!! it's the only sport that i really like to do however have no chance to do it. :(
Good to see another
Good to see another badminton player! I played for years, and still miss it. People seem to always laugh when I tell them what sport I played!!
I also played volleyball for a while, as well as track and field, but never enough to become very good. I'm a good swimmer as a result of ten years of compulsory swim classes, but never joined a team because my mom tried to pressure me to do so!

quite a few
sports!
Cross country and distance track in high school - team sports intimidated the crap out of me. First two years of college I played on an ultimate frisbee team, which gave me a chuckle when I watched Cathy DeBuono's vlog this week and she started talking about the crazy competitiveness of the sport and how you don't really expect it to be this crazy, intense, entire subculture where people throw themselves at trees to catch little 18-gram flying plastic discs. It's true. I knew a guy who practically ripped his fingers apart laying out for a frisbee. I sprained an ankle. So many acls and flying bodies and crazy-scary screams! Intense! I was surprised. But temporarily enchanted.
Anywho, now I just dance and bike and occasionally go snow-boarding or windsurfing. Team sports are scary. Especially the ones with hard plastic objects that fly at your face and put you in trances that make you want to dive headfirst into the ground repeatedly (so fun!). Actually, I wish my knee wasn't crap so I could go back to diving in the mud. So fun, so slidy.
ULTIMATE!!!
ultimate ultimate ultimate!
I know - at first I was kind of dumbfounded - I was just like, "who ARE these crazy people?" But it hooks you! It just grabs you and pulls you in and then you're also one of those crazy people wearing day-glo leggings, sliding around in mud and and leaping like a dog because it's so exciting and everyone is so excited and the sport is FILLED with crazy people like you who need an excuse to yell their brains out and have weird dreams about running in fields (maybe that's just me) and bash their bodies trying to catch flying things. well. That my experience, anyways. I don't know....I guess I was on a team and in leagues and sacrificed my body and stuff. You have exclamation points so....was ultimate super intense for you too or just for the more freaky competitive people?
yay! I love finding people who have played this sport because it's such a funny surprise how big it is.
ultimate frisbee!
ive been playing for 5 years now, and despite two torn acls, there's no way im giving it up. i love the rush, laying out for discs, getting ds...
plus, when i used to date guys, it was this insanely huge pool of smart, educated, athletic men. then i discovered women, and good lord, did my options expand. =)

ultimate!
ultimate is the best- I play for my college. Seriously, it is the only sport that keeps such an incredible spirit of the game while still having real competition. My favorite thing ever is to go deep for a huck in the endzone-yikes that sounds dirty and totally wasn't meant to be.
