Lesbian Dance Music?!

Hey, so a lesbian friend of mine has been complaining about the lack of lesbian culture, lesbian media etc (i know :|) Anyway, after i heard this I soon directed her to a tonnnn of lesbian films and TV shows... "I dont like film and tv" she said. So, I directed her to a tonnnnn of lesbian bands and recording artists... "I like dance music" she said.

I swear she loooves being this stereotypical hard done by lesbian, who the whole worlds against. But anyway, does anyone know any decent lesbian dance artists so I can quieten my self-pittying friend?

I like most dance cheesy music that is played in gay clubs but she wants something lesbian specific, theres a good dance mix of peaches - fuck the pain away and Khia's - My neck, my back

except, i'm a pretty happy go lucky kid. i love techno and dance, it's my favorite. but, i've been having such a hard time finding lesbian music.

Lesbians on Ecstasy - "Tell Me Does She Love the Base"
Peaches - "Boys Wanna Be Her (Wierd Science Remix)"
Tegan & Sara - "Back In Your Head (Tiesto Remix)"

That's all I know of though, sorry I couldn't be more help.

What about The Gossip? I think of them as pretty dance-y and two of the three members are lesbians. I don't know whether the third member - a guy - is gay or straight.

There is a lack of Lesbian everything in the world!

I find that old trip hop is a good listen for lesbians. Like Massive Attack and Portishead. ALWAYS GOOD! :)

my gay friend had it on his myspace for a while and i found that hilarious.

What makes lesbian music "lesbian music"? So stupid. Sorry, but.

Tell her to stop being anal, and listen to: Portishead, Morcheeba, Thievery Corporation, Broke Social Scene and Sneaker Pimps. Technically I am recommending trip-hop to you, but I am being presumptious and guessing that your friend has no taste anyway if you have to serve culture on plate for her.

While not aimed at lesbians, at the very least, it is good stripper/makeout/alone with a glass of wine music. Also some of this has featured on the L-word so if that makes it "lesbian culture", if she still won't buy it.

(Special: "Strangers" by Portishead is huh-maaaazing.)

I guess I'm a little late, but I consider New Young Pony Club to be at least a little curious with the sexuality of their music. In "Get Lucky" (this song might be called "Get Dancey, actually, I keep reading different things) one of the lines says, "Let your girlfriend do what your boyfriend can't." And in the video for "Ice Cream" the guitarist (female) is all rubbin up on the lead singer (also female). "TKO" by Le Tigre is pretty danceable. Queen of Japan does covers of "Do You Think I'm Sexy?" and "I Was Made For Loving You", so those sound pretty gay when you listen to them.. haha. "Meeting Paris Hilton" by Cansei de Ser Sexy... "The bitch was so hot. I said, 'I wanna take you home, bitch.' " Hahah. I don't know. Even though this is late, hopefully it helps..
