Request for a "Health" section on AE [formerly "Why is it?"]Why is it when I check forums to post certain things, I only come up with "society" or "hobbies, health & fitness.."? I would like this site to start a health specific forum. I think they are necessary and helpful to the community in general. I don't want to pose questions to the community about their opinions on mental health for the lesbian population under either of those threads. I don't think it really fits there. Is it possible for that to be done?? If it has already and I'm just blind, point me in the right direction, please.

Health section on AE
There are already some health-related threads in different areas of the Various section, such as threads about mental illness, depression, suicide, cutting, coming out to your doctor, etc. They're in a few different locations, usually either "Various" or "Various-->Who's got...".
A dedicated Health & Wellness section is a nice idea though. :)

Thanks,
guess "various" doesn't come to mind when thinking, "mental health". -_-
*off to various*
It makes a little more
It makes a little more sense if you consider the primary purpose of AfterEllen is discussion of lesbian/bi women in entertainment. Everything else, by that logic, is an "afterthought" (e.g. Politics is a very large topic all grouped under one section because this isn't a political site).
I'd like to see a Health section flourish here, fwiw. Maybe Sarah can make it happen. :)

Health & fitness?
If we count lesbian sports figures that is semi-entertainment, no?
I'm sure Sarah/Lori have considered fitness/health because, well, health/wellness topics are some of the most popular for women. And lesbians kind of have a reputation of being sporty/outdoorsy.
I know recently on that other lesbian entertainment (tie-in) website, ourchart, there was a very popular vlog series with the personal trainer from the l word.
