AfterEllen.com Panel, Wellesley College

If you're a Wellesley student/friend of a Wellesley student/would like to be a friend of a Wellesley student (wink), Sarah Warn and Malinda Lo will starting off Wellesley's LesBiTrans week with an AfterEllen.com Panel. It's the best way to start off any week :D

Dyke Ball

I'll be at Dyke Ball. I'm going in a bit of drag but still need the wig to complete the outfit.

Is it your first Dyke Ball? Plans for dress/costume?

You have several options

You can dress nicely (it is black tie.) So you can do high class femme or go in all out tuxedo drag. Or do something in between if you want to mix things up.

You can go in costume. This has many interpretations. You can go era theme (20's flapper for one.) You can dress as a sexy nun (I had a friend do this last year), a doctor/nurse, a fairy, or whatever you want to go as. You can also dress in strategically placed band-aids. Body paint (making sure to have something covering private parts) is always a popular option.

You can go as as you would to a regular party, only with 25-50% of the clothes missing. I don't recommend this one as it's boring. More of a last resort type of thing.

And remember: glitter is amazing, just don't get it in your eyes.

This is fantastic! One of the best parts of Wellesley is how well connected alums like Sarah and Malinda stay with the college. I'm a recent alum, but I'll spread the word far and wide on campus-- what a way to kick of LesBiTrans week! And have fun at Dyke Ball, there's nothing like it!

Wellesley!

Ahhhh!! I'm going there! :-D I'll be visiting in April, but I won't start until the Fall. Well that's off topic...that's so cool! When is Wellesley's LesBiTrans week?

-Oh! Darling-

Spring open campus?

Are you coming for spring open campus? If you are, you'll miss LesBiTrans week by a week (events start this week.) But if you want to meet people on campus when you come, you're more than welcome to message me.

Mmhhmm

Yeah i'll be there fore spring open campus. Damn, so I'm missing it! :-/

that'd be awesome to meet people there! I'm not quite sure how the schedule is looking though. For sure I'll be there the 16th, and I have to leave on the 18th in the afternoon, and I don't know about what they'll have us do in between. But i'll ask around.

Schedule tends to go...

Activities during the day and then choices of what to do in the evening. It gives your host a chance to show you a bit of Wellesely life. Or at least that's how it went last year when I hosted.
lourdesm's picture

Ah.

That sounds awesome! as the host, did you take the student(s) to organizations' activities, events, or tours of the campus?

*I know this isn't exactly what the topic is about. Sorry, but i'm really excited to be going there :-)

Hosting

It all depends on what was happening on campus at the time. The last time I was hosting someone, nothing of note was happening. So I just took her to a dining hall of her choice (Pom since she was vegetarian) and we talked about various issues of campus life. Even if there's nothing you want to go to happening, it's still a great time to learn about the campus and see parts of it that aren't on the main tour. But in the past there have been concerts and other big events, so I doubt you'll be bored.

Cool!

sweet, that sounds awesome! I hope I don't happen to be there on the day where nothing fun is happening. haha. ah well. I'll just have to talk to some of the ladies there ;-)
