The Little Mermaid on Broadway

Hey Ladies!

Well i mentioned before that i was going to see The Little Mermaid on Broadway and someone asked me to give a little review after i'd seen it, so here it is. :)

Ok, well, the music was GREAT, aside from the songs Scuttle (the seagull) sang...they didn't really do much for me.  The sets were colorful and the costumes were really unique. As for the whole swimming thing, they used customized heely shoes, i know i thought it was a ridiculous idea, but it really helps with the stylized movements and the gliding effect.

Sierra Boggess (Ariel) has one of the most beautiful voices i've ever heard and plays the part sooo well!  I really don't think they could've picked anyone better to play the part, and she's also a really sweet person.  The whole cast is really great, so much talent!

The storyline was, of course, changed but i thought the change was done very well.  Instead of the movie ending, where Prince Eric harpoons Ursula with the sunken ship, in the musical Prince Eric only distracts Ursula, then Ariel gets to save herself.  Although, i am accustomed to the movie ending i really liked the way this ending was handled.

So, overall i thought the musical was really awesome! lol.  I think it's the best Disney Classic to hit Broadway!

oh yeah!

Another one of the big changes was that instead of Prince Eric finding Vanessa, which was Ursula in disguise, he held a contest to try to find the voice and when he didn't, he picked Ariel.  This is when Ursula showed up to try to destroy everything...

just thought i would slip that in.  :)
