"Death Proof" anyone?

Alright, so I may get some super feminist hatred on this one, but I loved this movie. What's not to love, Jungle Julia, Vanessa Ferlito, and in the end, ZOE BELL. Oh my GOD where did this girl come from? I Netflixed (is that a verb now?) her documentary called "Double Dare" with Jeannie Epper about stuntwomen just so I could watch her again. She is so gorgeous, so tough, so adorable...is anyone else as crazy about her as I am?

Does anyone else have this in their DVD collection? Not to mention (spoiler!) they kick the $hit out of the bad guy in the end. And it's Quentin Tarantino.

Is this happening for anyone else?

Everything right there rocks my world!

and ZOE BELL she's always amazing!!!

i've loved her since Xena! <3

sexist?  That is really

sexist?  That is really interesting because I thought that death proof, and most of his movies, are not sexist at all and rather, portray the woman as a bad ass (in a good way though).  Very few movies have female characters as the "hero" or "a strong character", but Q.T.'s do.  Or, were you referring to yourself - hahaha ;->

I am so in love with her.

I am so in love with her. She looked so fucking hot in that movie with the pink shirt, leather pants and black gloves. And her accent. The roundhouse kick she gives at the end was amazing. And her on top of that car! I think she was the hottest when she found that big pipe and rode on the window of the car. I pretty much love every scene with her in it, which is every scene. Dammit, now i have to go watch it.

i always knew quentin

i always knew quentin terantino was great, but this movie was absolutely %$&*# awesome! i was so amped by the end of it. i'd never heard of zoe bell before, but she definitely caught my eye and i looked her up after. her on top of that car was so scary, but sexy at the same time. and she has a great sense of humour. all in all that movie is now very high on my favourite list. good acting, hot actors, great dialogue and sweet visuals. i'm still overwhelmed with how good it was. it is so rare that i find movies that i like this much.

love it!!!

i absolutely LOVED this movie!!! tarantino made the first half as if it was from the 1970's or so, but the girls have mobile phones and ipods which i find just hilarious.

and zoe bell... dont even get me started on her. so sickeningly talented! hope we'll see more of her in the future together with michelle rodriguez in a quest to save natalie portman from a dungeon in southern france. ohhhhh i get distracted...

and the ending where "they kick the $hit out of the bad guy" as you so nicely put it. woman power all the way. sarah warn would be proud.

I would never be a straight girl's first lesbian experience, because being a straight girl's first lesbian experience is like teaching a baby how to roller skate: I'm dragging her ass around, she's screaming WEEEEE, and then my back hurts the next day!

Oh Wow...

Vanessa Ferlito...Mmmmm.

Big wow!!! <3 <3 <3

LOVE this film!

Ok well i love all tarantino's films, but this is one of the best, (not as good as Kill Bill though). I love how his female characters are always the definition of post-feminism!

The car chase is amazing! I hadn't heard of Zoe Bell before this, but i IMDB'd after and found out she's going to be in Lost! yay!
Marysocontrary's picture

Zoe on Lost

Yeah she was on Lost. You hear her in a couple of episodes, but her on screen appearance was in last Thursday's episode so you'll have to go to ABC to see it.

And this is why...

And this is whay I love Tarantino. He made a movie which pretty much consists of one spectacular car chase. Then he fills one of the cars with Tracey Thoms, Rosario Dawson, and Zoe Bell. Zoe is absolutly adorable! I love this depiction of tough women who never allow themselves to be beat by men.

Tarantino and Rodriguez

rock my world! Seriously. I own every movie they have ever been involved in (writing, directing, both, except voice work, I have to draw the line somewhere)!

Death Proof had the most amazing car scenes but Kill Bill is still my favorite Tarantino movie followed very closely by Reservoir Dogs. BTW the scene he wrote for Four Rooms was hysterical!

Rodriguez gave me one of my greatest viewing pleasures, Rose McGowen with a machine gun leg. I know it is sick but tell me that doesn't up her hotness factor in the movie! Sin City is my favorite by Rodriguez followed by his spaghetti western homage, El Mariachi, Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico.

Hands down - two of my favorite men!

"...but I loved this movie. What's not to love..."

Indeed, what's not to love? Though I'm a huge Tarantino fan, so I might be bias :)

Zoe Bell

Zoe Bell! She's amazing! I knew she was Lucy Lawless' stunt double for Xena and I believe she was also on Buffy. I hadn't seen her till Death Proof and she's too cute!

Yea!

That movies was the funniest one I had seen in a long time. I think the best part is when they're all in the coffee shop telling stories. The whole bit about the gun cracks me up every time.

I heard that Zoe was the stunt double for Uma Thurman on the Kill Bill Series.

I wasn't surprised that the women ended up kicking butt at the end. Tarantino has a lot of films were women are the heroes. I think he's a feminist in disguise!!

BEERPONY's picture

What's there to complain about?

How was that movie not feminist? It was focused on the lives of female characters, about 90% of the movie was spent on fleshing them out. Sure the first batch got murdered, but the second part inroduced us to better, opinionated, strong women who did not act submissive at all and took revenge on the killer.

Tarantino is awesome because his last couple of movies were all about female protagonists - Kill Bill, Jackie Brown, Death Proof.

loved it

i love this movie so much it was so tight! when they got together and beat the crap out of whatshisface i was like 'yeah get him'. i think it's a really cool movie and zoe bell is incredible in it. i think it's so cool that she was lucy lawless and uma thurman's stunt woman. she is amazing.

zoe..

Well...first time I ever saw her was in Kill Bill's movie, Death Proof...and I didn't know she was an actual stuntdouble...and I found her to be quite charming and warm...and fun....Ya zoe :-P

I like Death Proof a loT.

I like Death Proof a loT. But I prefer Planet Terror. It's disgusting, I love it.

And there's a lesbian (bi?) character in it (let's forget her lover dies painfully) !

Of course Grindhouse was split into two different movies here (Did they finally cut it in the US?). My poster helps me waiting for a übersupercollectordeluxe version DVD including both of them. A girl can dream, right?! I know that there's a 6 DVD version in Asia but English with Japanese subs isn't exactly what I'm looking for.

Anyway, I'm waiting for Machete (direct to dvd release, at least in the U.S.)

>>poster<<

Nothing lesbian here, but it won't keep me from watching it.

WELCOME TO THE GRINDHOUSE

Do I love it? YES...Do I own it? OF COURSE!!! ...

I bought the two movies, I waited endlessly for it to come out at the movies and went to see it with high hope and got out sooooooooooooo satisfied. I also have a poster on my closet door. I think Grindhouse is a masterpiece, the idea, the fake trailers, the storyline, the performances, the way it was shot...every little thing.

I do think Planet Terror was better than Death Proof, but still Death Proof was sooo awesome, + Vanessa Ferlito was sooooooooooooo hot.

Grindhouse presents Q.T's "Deathproof"

is Fantastic!!!

It has become one of my favorite movies. Tracie Thoms is so cute, as well as the other actresses.

Also, Zoe Bell being a stunt person is GREAT!!

Fantastic movie.  I really

Fantastic movie.  I really do appreciate Q.T.  Once I saw one of his movies I began to understand the "art" of filmmaking.

p.s. I had this dream once with Q.T. in it; it took place at his house/pad (wherever the hell that is) and I had to take a shower - it was the *best* shower ever! And, of course, as I took a shower, there was a large screen playing movies in front of me (I guess the movie screen was in the shower too - go figure) and the shower was huge with about 4 different nozzels and for some reason it was square (that seemed important at the time) and he just happened to be having a party that I was invited to, because in the dream, of course, I was his buddy - hehe ;->

Death Proof + Planet Terror

Yeah, I own them both! I enjoyed the action, kicking the shit out of that stuntman, and really think they are funny...

"God, dammit! Ramona, you've been fartin' like a goddamned pack mule."

"I'm going to be a stand-up comedian." "You're not funny." "That's what I keep trying to tell everybody but they all say I'm hilarious." "But you're not."
