So...Any non asian ladies here have an Asian festish? There's that stereotype that a lot of white guys like Asian girls, so I'm wondering if it's the same in the lesbian community. I'll be honest
When i saw the topic title I was gathering my righteous indignation for a drunken rant on the "asian fetish". Now i get its a joke and I feel rather silly for assuming.
I will say that , being half asian has gotten me alot of attention over the years and a lot of " what are you?" and creepy white guys who could basicly sniff the asian out in me. I am so far from the asian stereotype its not funny, soft spoken yes but submissive ... right, about as submissive as a nun in a brothel.. wait lets try again... lol. But seriously I have had the experience of men wanting to date me because of stereotypes and women wanting to date me because i'm "Exotic". I consider all that aggitating, what happened to wanting to date someone cuz you like them?

"Asian Fetish" is mainly an acronym for easy-sex-for-males-as-white-women-are-too-Scarlett-O'hara-ish and hard to manage. I've had many a white male say this to me when I asked them. Anthroplologically it makes sense for males (but not females) to want to dip into genetic pools very different from their own, as that gives the species a chance to spread its DNA to wider geographical areas. men are designed by nature to try to spread their genes as far as they can. Females are designed to want stability and security, which is more readily found in a mate that resembles the staus quo, ie majority of the population, since a mate that resembles anything other than the bulk of the populace runs the rsik of getting discriminated against or even killed by the majority. And evolutionary-wise, it's not whether your mate gets killed, but whether you bear children with a higher risk of getting killed, which you do if your mate isn't mainstream. So scientifically, if you want to play the asian fetish card, your chances are better if you are a straight female.
You said you never hear that term applied with latina or indian opr black females. Well, latina and even more so Indian women are white. they just have tans. and black women...what is the number? Someone told me that in the USA at least (not sure about here in UK) 70% of the blacks have white blood. Obama is reportedly related to Cheney and Brad Pitt. Black males dont get the opportunity to mate with white females all that much because of racism, though that is changing, but the point is, if 70% of american blacks have white blood and its not coming from black men having kids with white women, then clearly white men must be doing it with black women -- yes? And now that I think about it that way, that wopuld mean that the "black fetisH" is orders of magnitude stronger than any asian fetish, since there still are relatively few children who are of mixed asian-white blood, unless you count the centuries old mixing that created hispanics.

Scientifically I can follow your statement, sociologically and psychologically it unsettles me how simplistic that explanation was in nature. In truth this "Asian fetish" which I'm going to term as a white male wanting an Asian female social phenomenon is far more complex then genetics or evolutionary "spreading of seed". I believe it is a phenomenon that is not based in evolution at all and is actually understood in the matrix of sociological, political, historical, economic, cultural, racial realms. But I won't give everyone a huge talk on the many levels of understanding this phenomenon and briefly give the two main thoughts on the issue.
There are two main thoughts on Asian fetish one being that its a harmless personal preference much like preferring blonds over brunettes, and the other thought being that it is an objectifying, demeaning and a form of racial stereotyping. I see these two lines of thinking playing out here on this thread.
Whatever way you think, the original point of the thread was not to be serious so I won't get too serious about my thoughts on the phenomenon of white males which seek out Asian women in a kind of racial stereotyping due to some misinterpreted thoughts linked to culture. But I will end with the parting shot of reminding people that even today for many Asian women its a challenge to overcome this racial stereotype of the objectified mysterious, exotic, yet submissive Asian woman.

From my experience as an asian woman I get hit on by white females and white males most out of all the races then the blacks. Your theory of woman in general seeking stability is true in my case as I prefer asians over the others. So for me, whether white woman have a fetish for us I couldnt care less lol. I dont have much experience with the gay clubbing scene (or any clubbing scene for that matter) but I would think that most people regardless of ethnicity, "check for" women who they find appealing, whether it's caucasians, asians, african-americans, etc. Personally, I am generally attracted to caucasian women (purely external), however If I happen to get to know someone of a different ethnicity/race who I click with, then obviously I would be attracted to this person.
Sometimes you gradually become attracted to someone who you initially weren't attracted to. It's a little complex, but that's my 2 cents on this issue.

wait a minute, could we define asian here for a minute? Last time I looked, the Middle East was part of Asia, and let's not forget most of Russia, Turkey, as well as archipelago south-east Asia (whose inhabitants some people label as polynesians). Asia is so diverse, and there are many cultural factors one has to consider before even attempting to closet the term 'Asian Female' into a submissive papa-san massage therapist, or whatever people think of them as. Race is also problematic...in India you have Anglo-Indians (and Aishwarya Rai ;D), there are blacks and caucasians in the middle east; in Indonesia, Vietnam, Macau and the Philippines, there are people who are descendants of Europeans (from the colonial era) and thus look decidedly Eurasian...

As if the overwhelming whiteness of lesbian culture isn't alienating enough to women of color, the women creating these posts feel the need to hijack a possible resource for combatting that alienation just so they can revel in the objectification of others.

Not even my beloved LBGT site is not immune to some of the most errr "interesting" comments. Sure let's celebrate Asian beauty by "exocitizing" it by making it other and not seeing what this whole thing is-objectification. I love how people will claim progessivness but the very things they do are soooo regressive. It has made me very cynical on the intentions of others like posters above, I take it lightly or I will have a headache.
This brings it back to the fact the objectification of women in general especially women that are non-white American (such as Russian bride scandals) are made to be trophies due to certain attributes that are negated by the women who occupy by the ethnicity or accepted for monetary gain. The best example of this objectification by ethnicity is the porn industry marketed towards striaight men.
So this "Asian fetish" can be hurtful when certain expectation are made because it does dehumanize all women as body parts of a rather large machine that is suppose to be submissive to men's needs.

'Fetish' being used to describe something is kinda gross to me..it objectifies the subject..so a 'fetish' for Asian women is kinda..i dunno. It makes me think of creepy guys with long fingers grabbing towards something. Maybe preference? But fetish makes me think 'oh I have no real interest in it, it's just something that turns me on.'

Sometimes I forget that I'm half asian, haha. Becuase I look in the mirror and I just see me. The first few times that people asked me "what I was," I had no idea what they were talking about.
I think asians are gorgeous, but I don't prefer them over any other race. I usually go for caucasians, but that's probably because I'm surrounded by them.
