AE Tournament Pick 'Em Contest?

So, every year my friends and I do a bracket contest for the NCAA men's basketball tournament (and sometimes the women's, if the guys are feeling adventurous)...and I thought I'd see if anyone might be interested in doing an AE competition. No prize or anything, just bragging rights.

It's still a few weeks before we know what the brackets will look like, but I wanted to see if there were people who'd be interested.

I'd probably just set the contest up via yahoo, since it's the most accessible.

Anyone else game?

I'd be up for that.

I'd be up for that.

Definitely. Nothing I like

Definitely. Nothing I like more than bragging rights. :)

Sure

The more brackets I have, the more chances I have of winning something :)

Whee

Sure, I'm up for it. :)

Game.

Set it up. Bragging rights are prize enough! Does that site allow you to do women's brackets as well?
pecola's picture

Yahoo Doesn't

...but ESPN does.

I may just set up the group today on that site so that we can do both.

YES!

This is a great idea! If we do it, we should set up a pool for women's and men's, IMHO. Men's is obviously pretty popular, and I think the AE crowd would like the women's more than any other community I'm involved in. Do it! Might as well do both on ESPN so that the women and men's are in the same place, though.

Um...

ESPN asks that you create a team name and team motto.

Now I feel like I'm under a lot pressure to come up with something witty...and I gots nothing...

Any ideas?

So...

...is there now a group set up, then?

Oh, the pressure of a name.

I'm setting it up.

I can't think of a name or motto though.

So much pressure...

I'll post the group info shortly.

Ohhhh...

...a group name or group motto. Gotcha. All right, ladies, let's get to work. Should Afterellen be in the league name? Or a variation? What's anyone got? Me? I got nothin' right now.

hmm...

That is tough.  Maybe AEGlobetrotters....since we do come from all over the globe.  Slogan?  Geez...err..."women lovin' some college basketball".  Not much, but better than nothing! ;-)  Maybe it will spark someone else's creative juices?!

Yippee!

Where do we sign up?  I wanna play! ;-)

Women's Tournament Challenge

Alright, I wanted to get things set up before it gets too deep into conference tournaments and I forget to set things up. As I noted before, we opted to use ESPN because they had the women's and men's tournaments available.

I decided to make the team name (and the motto to some degree) an homage to the "Lay-up" episode of The L Word last season.

This message is from pecola breedlove who is challenging you to play Women's Tournament Challenge on ESPN.com.

This game gives you the chance to win prizes by predicting the winner of the most games in the 63 game women's college basketball tournament. A correct selection in the first round counts as 10 points, and in each successive round the point values are doubled. You can create up to ten entries, and best of all, it's FREE to play.

Men's Tournament Challenge

I always think of this episode of The Cosby Show when I hear the word challenge. Of course in that episode, it sounded more like CHA-LLANNNGGG.

But anyway...same info, different links:

Just the women's....

Count me in. I'm more interested in the women's tournament, quite frankly. I don't follow men's sports - I guess I'm just that much of a lesbian. :) But I'll do a men's bracket too for the fun of it.

Patient: There's like this longing ... this pull. I mean, does that make me, you know, like, some kind of...?

Maeby: Homosexual.

Tobias: Maeby, please. She's right, though, you probably are a homosexual.
Leibug67's picture

Count me in too!

Thanks Pecola!!!

Bracket Update

I guess this would be the year of the upset. The mens tournament is crazy. My bracket will never recover. I think Davidson will continue to surprise.

As far as the women go, I hope UConn embarrasses ODU. That is all.

What? I'm not bitter!
