Ellen Page 2Started a new thread since the last one had posts jumping back and forth between 2006, 2007 and 2008. Very confusing layout and I couldn't find the most recent post. I added a question mark to the title because, you know, we don't know anything officially... but she's adorable. (And is on SNL as I write this!)

Whoa. On SNL Ellen just
Whoa. On SNL Ellen just did a sketch about going gay at a Melissa Etheridge/Indigo Girls concert. And name-checked Closer to Fine and wearable art.
Actual quote:
"Why can't I just hug another woman with my LEGS??"
Either someone on the SNL writing staff is a gay lady or Ellen Page HAS to be.
LOL!
I love that quote.....am stealing it.
Isn't Tina Fey still on their writing staff? LOL Yes, I know, my fantasy gaydar is working overtime today. I'm opting that Tina wrote it from experience and Ellen thought it was a great line.....also from experience. :-)
I'm entitled to at least 3 gay (wanna-be) fantasies per day!
Ellen Page is absolutely
Ellen Page is absolutely amazing.
Second that Whoa
I was about to post a new thread after this skit aired. Everyone was clapping at the end like...wah? I was slapping at my girlfriends leg in disbelief!
Ellen Page
Or they are just making fun of the recent speculation. ;)
I like her a lot, and she does ping for me, definitely. Plus she's short and we short girls rock. :D
_________
I suppose I could be wrong,
I suppose I could be wrong, but I think it was pretty obvious she was making it clear that yes she is lesbian while having a bit of fun in the process..
If she WAS straight and wanted to make a joke of the rumors, i don't think they would have ended the skit the way they did: Her "boyfriend" saying if she was gay that it would be okay and he would become gay too so they could still live together, followed by a big hug.
I think if she was straight she would have reaffirmed her heterosexuality, which she didnt do. Plus the fact that it was the very last skit of the show proves she was trying to say something.
SNL
But she doesn't write the skit, Saturday Night Live writers do. They're not in it to confirm her sexuality, they play off of the week's media reports and this just happened to be the big one most would know about.
Of course, she could have always declined if she was uncomfortable with the skit. :)
_________
SNL Writers
Ok, why would the SNL writers write something like that? That's really strange that they would do something like that. It's really out of character with SNL. Overall, i thought the skit was bizarre. I'm not sure if she's winking at us, is she tell us she's gay, bi, or if the SNL writers were making a joke of it and she's just straight?
Did she tell the SNL writers to write that scene?
But I really didn't think the skit was funny, it had a very odd tone to it and ended with an ambiguous note. He said he would accept her as a lesbian if she is, but then he said he would be gay and they could live together. and then they hug. WTF, Is she Bi then?
SNL skit
Why wouldn't the writers write something like that? Speculation on her orientation was all over the Internet after the Oscars. When Lucy Lawless hosted some years ago, they did skits about Xena and Gabrielle being gay too. SNL skits play off of recent media.
If she was a lesbian, and her roommate was gay -- How would that make her bi? A lesbian living with a male friend = bi?
_________
hmmm
Originally, I thought Andy Sanberg was joking about the going gay part. Still it's weird that he would say something like that, so does that mean Andy is saying he's gay too?
Or am I basically reading too much into that skit?
I saw the ambiguous ending
How short is she? I keep
Height
From what I've heard she's 5'0.
_________
I met her recently and,
lack of height
I can confirm this too. I saw her at TIFF in the summer and she's definitely not much taller than 5 feet.
"i do not have many vitamins but i am 100% of the daily allowance of DELICIOUS"
SNL skit
Regardless of whether it was jokingly aimed at the rumours or not, Ellen's final skit of the night made my year!
"i do not have many vitamins but i am 100% of the daily allowance of DELICIOUS"
Did Ellen just come out?!
OH, ELLEN. You freaking rock. That last skit....my god, people are going to be talking about that!
Don't know if she was poking fun or not but....one can hope! Best.skit.ever. She's adorable.
She's basically the coolest
Pleasepleaseplease!
I ADORE Ellen Page. There's something about her that I find insanely attractive, and if she is indeed gay, I'll cry tears of joy. She's so cute! My mother gave me a 'I know you're happy right now' look when the skit was done with.
Damn, she needs to be my girlfriend.
SNL
I think the audience was stunned for a bit then they started clapping enthusiastically. I think the audience just realized that Ellen may have just come out. At first a was laughing thinking it was just a skit making fun of Musto's column, but like the audience, I was like, OMG she just came out.
Surprise
After the skit ended, I was like "what, omg, did she just?". I don't know if she was saying she was gay or not but I really liked that skit, it was a nice surprise! :-) Ellen Page rocks!
"Would I rather be feared or loved? Um... Easy, both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me."!!
I KNEW there'd be a thread on here already about this. I don't know what that last skit was but it was freakin' amazing. I have no idea how this barely-21 yr old got to be so comfortable in her own shoes, but you go girl! Seriously, she's too cool for words.
And I just have to say that in gen'l when acting or in interviews or what not, she looks too young for me to crush on, but I just have to say that she looked pretty darn hot in all those pics used during the show.
Ellen Page can't get any awesomer
I kind of took that gay skit as a shout out. lol
The best part of that skit was the end when her boyfriend said it was ok if she was gay and that he'd be gay too so they could still live together and Ellen just gave him the most endearing look. It was very heartfelt. For that alone, I give her a million thanks... and kisses because I want to make-out with her. :D
Ellen Page: dykon
That skit that seemed more like a political statement peppered with satire than it did a good ol' comedy sketch. If it was a comedy sketch, the SNL writers missed the mark... again (but that's another story entirely).
No matter what the intentions of the skit were, it was pretty awesome. I am rediculously proud of her as a human regardless of whether she's gay or straight. She's got a great heart and a great attitude. I wish we'd see more folks like her in Hollywood... and around the globe.
THANK YOU ELLEN PAGE... and congratulations on cementing your status as a dykon! Well done, indeed!
yeah, she just came out
Confusion
I am so confused. I didn't get to watch this (unfortunately!) so, I'm absolutely confused. What very lesbian thing did she do? Oh, and if any of you see it on youtube, I want it! Send me the link to the clip or whatever in a message! Oh, man....hahaha. I want her to be gay so bad! hahaha. :-)
-Quiero verte, tenerte, y besarte, y entregarte todo mi corazon!-
sketch explained...
Correct me if I'm wrong...
Ellen's character and her boyfriend are in the living room. She is excitedly telling him about a recent Indigo Girls concert, and he begins to suspect that she's gay. She doesn't think she's gay, she "just wants to hug another woman with her legs" From there she talks about how women turn her on (sort of) and what she likes about them.
At this point, they both realize she's probably a lesbian. She snuggles up to him and asks if its ok that she's a lesbian. Her boyfriend says it's just fine with him. In fact, he'll think about turning gay too so they can still live together. They hug and the sketch ends...leaving lesbians everywhere going: WTF?!?! YAY... I think ...
OK it's on again!
SNL Clip
ok did a litte search - found a clip
http://www.redlasso.com/ClipPlayer.aspx?id=4cf9a1bf-a06d-4d98-9225-030431509066
thank you!
I might have to give you a hamper for that - pity us sad folk who don't live in America and don't get to see SNL up to date.
What can I say? Oh, Ellen Page. Even if she's not gay (but please god, please?), it's just amazing to see her act out a skit like that - what other 21 year old would address lesbian rumours that way?
best SNL quotes:
"i just felt like i was an oil lamp that's never been lit. and now i'm finally burning bright with sister fire!"
"why can't i just hug a woman with my legs? in friendship?"
even better: right after the sketch, queen latifah's jenny craig commercial comes on.
just watched SNL and was
wearable art...
lmao lemona [about the queen latifa thing, and your amazing choices in quotes]
that skit made my new week, whatever its intention, and she did a great job
I'm glad that I wasn't the
She's frigging genius!
Yes, SNL wrote the sketch, but she did it with such gusto. Totally comfortable with it all! What a way to puncture the whole Musto idiot column! Hahahaha...
It doesn't matter if she is or isn't. Its clear she doesn't have a problem with it. Which just takes all the sting out Musto's snidey remarks. Way to go, girl!
haha I think we have another
haha I think we have another member of our team? that skit was adorably funny and how she wants to "hug another woman with her legs" hahaha
And yeah with the way it ended I think she was pretty much saying "yeaaap, what you've been wondering is true.."
Knee deep in the vag!!!
ok yes
the skit was funny but it didn't feel like a coming out thing...she's a really good actress and real cute too. Wether she is or isn't gay I think that she's really cool people and that that was a good way to poke at that imbecils writer speculations about her. Go Page!
"Tenia que ser Miercoles"
If the idea was to make
If the idea was to make some big statement and actually officially come out, then it hasn't really worked lol. People are confused as to whether she was joking around or being serious. (God, please be serious!)
Before this she was never asked about her personal life, but you can pretty much guarantee that she will be asked in her next interview. People are going to want to know WTF just happened. Whether she chooses to answer is another matter.
"Some of us have it worse Dana, OK? Some of us are dating lesbian men."
!
Wow. Thanks for posting a link to that clip -- that was awesome.
Here's my take on it:
If she's straight then from what I've read and seen she's far too much of a feminist and supporter of the gay community to do that whole "I'm not gay" speech 'cause she probably recognizes the negative connotations that come along with that. So if you're a straight, sarcastic woman who's got a bunch of lesbian rumours flying around about you.. I guess this is one of the options. And very well done & appreciated if that's the case. She's got to realise that the sketch will only encourage the "is she or isn't she" talk, so I hope she knows what she's doing.
If she's gay -- two thumbs up and welcome to the fold. Also, can I be your girlfriend?
She is too cool..
Is Ellen Page still in Jack and Diane?
Because her name is off of the imdb listing...and that would make me sad.
http://imdb.com/title/tt0850677/
Awww
...
She came out? Oh come on. It was a skit.
_________
Anyone got a link for an
Anyone got a link for an upload? I didn't see the skit.
BUT, clicky -> http://youtube.com/watch?v=MkhqEQQMAiA&feature=related
To see a video where she sings about how Diablo Cody has nice boobs and hair, and being "100% E. Page true and always, to the heart"
Oh gosh I love her.
prob not coming out
I don't see any reason to consider that skit a coming-out. The SNL writers wrote it, probably either because of the rumors or just because they thought Ellen Page would be a good person to play that skit role.
I do think that it shows that Ellen Page doesn't care about the rumors, which is pretty cool.
Either/or
Either Ellen Page is a lesbian and will make some lucky gal very happy one day.
OR she's just cool enough to do that skit possibly mocking the rumors or at the very least not caring that it may encourage them (as it clearly has here).
So either way she's pretty freakin' awesome.
Things that make you go hmmm...
I was half asleep when the skit aired, but when I realized what was being said, I was wide awake and thinking WTF. It was a weird skit in terms of the other skits that had aired and its tone was definitely not the usual SNL goofiness. I don't know if it was being tongue-in-cheek or not.
However, if she was wanting the speculation to go away, this skit wasn't the best thing for her to do. Just added fuel to the fire. My little gay heart hopes she's a lesbian, but whatever her sexuality may be, she's still cool in my book.
think about it
...the skit totally ended on a serious note, then there was the long pause... then the audience went crazy clapping because they got it. she came out in her own special way. i know she didn't write it, but she might as well have.
i really can't picture the snl writers coming up with this all on their own without any input from her. the sketch totally didn't fit with the vibe of the rest of them (as in, it was actually funny?) and like i said... it ended with a heartfelt hug, not a joke.
welcome to the gay, ellen. welcome to the gay, i say.
The skit was probably in
The skit was probably in response to the recent rumors.
Maybe I'm wrong; but, I thought SNL was supposed to be funny. That was just weird. The other skits weren't that funny either. Oh well.
I thought her Letterman interview was funnier. If I were really reaching i could read something in the way she reacted to his transparent slut comment.
SNL skit
When i saw that skit i was like OMG. I was LMAO.
But i can't help thinking it was the writers poking fun about the recent speculation. I don't think she came out. And again i think it was about acceptance, considering the boyfirend being cool about it and saying he would go gay too. SNL has always been very socially forward.
And they knew people would be talking about it today. Speculating, wondering what it means.
