Cancelled? Rumor Won't DieCan one of the fine ladies of AfterEllen shed some light on a rumor that seemed to have reached a fever pitch recently? Apparently, more than one "insider" has claimed that South of Nowhere has been cancelled and the new episodes of Season 3B will be the last. I usually don't put much stock in these rumors, but the problem is this time around there is an imminent announcement on the way -- which is this week (possibly Friday). This would seem to coincide with the "big" annoucement that a reliable spoiler-Santa announced for this week. If this turns out to be true...well...that just sucks. I know the storylines have been sinking faster than the Titanic, but it's still a shame. Submitted by afterellen_fan (28 posts) on February 25, 2008 - 9:35pm. |

Though I'm not officially
Though I'm not officially anyone on this forum, I was one of the people that brought forth the rumor that South has been cancelled. At first I wanted to remain in denial after being told by someone who works for the N that there would be an announcement this week that was 99% bad, 1% good, I can confirm that as of now it has been cancelled.
The source of this information (cast member/crew) will not be revealed, but they did allow a message to be spread which you can find on www.spashley.com.
I would love for this to be just a rumor, but confirmation has come in more ways than just one source. And those who work for The-N are not even denying it at this point, they just say to keep watch out for Season 4 in April. Yeah, remember it used to be season 3B? They seem to be passing it off as the 4th season.
The more I think about it, yeah someone come and tell me I'm wrong! I'd love to be wrong.
Reason?
Do you know if it was a decision made by The N, or was it caused by any sort of internal struggle within the cast and/or production?

There have been two reasons, but I think the main reason has to do with The-N. I don't want to speculate or say something that might get someone else in trouble. Though, like I said before there IS a statement from someone over on the spashley forum, and though I can say the statement is from a legit source, I won't reveal who they are.
I can't speak on the
I can't speak on the cancellation, but this:
...isn't that unusual, at least not for The N. They make the same claims about Degrassi when the show takes it's hiatus.
That said, if these rumors are true, then I have no idea what the folks at The N are thinking. They just moved to a 24 hour network and since that point have cancelled a bulk of their original programming (The Best Years, Instant Star and, apparently, SoN). What sense does this make from a purely business perspective?
Where's Lori with her pie charts or Sarah with her indignation? This calls for a fight...

Another Network?
What are the chances that South of Nowhere will be picked up by another network, Logo or otherwise?
Didn't the show also get cancelled (kinda sorta) after its first season and later brought back? That gives me a little bit of hope.

I believe Ang
Ang I know you don't like to spread rumors so I believe you. This is an outrage! And to try and pass season 3B off as season for is just insulting!!!!
We just can't sit here and let the show die, we at least should try and save the show.
