News, Reviews & Commentary on Lesbian and Bisexual women in Entertainment and the Media

Big Brother 9 (US Version)

I've always believed that Big Brother was just a show that I watched when Survivor wasn't on... but the writer's strike has taught me to watch as much TV as I can bear while I can, 'cuz you never know when it might go away.

So far, I can hardly justify watching it. They've taken a Paradise Hotel-type turn and paired off everyone in the house with people that are supposedly their "soulmates", but never explain how they decided who would be soulmates. Everyone of the house exhibits little to no intelligence (even of the emotional variety).

There was a totally of ONE gay couple and one of the guys in it left. No lesbians or bisexuals of either sex in sight... but there are two girls in the house that have decided to pretend to be a lesbian couple pretending to be straight as a fake twist in the game. Most... moronic... strategy... EVER!

Sorry, I didn't mean to rant. But gawd... I'm still hoping there's a twist which includes bringing Ivette from Season 6 back (though as I look at Wiki... did she REALLY say that?).

Please don't make me go look this up!

Come on...Don't make me go look up what she said.  I watched that season and thought she was beautiful.

What did she say?

She was horrible!

I remember watching the season with Ivette and I immediately hated her. She said some incredibly hateful and stupid things about Kaysar, who was from Iraq, I believe. I loved Kaysar...so handsome and smart.

Okay, I looked it up for you because I had totally forgotten the stuff she said. So here goes, from wiki: "she became infamous for her remarks regarding Muslim HouseGuest Kaysar, reportedly calling him a "sand nigger" and a "fake muslim."

See...she sounds lovely [sarcasm/].

Big Brother

Ok, so I watch basically almost everything on television and of course Big Brother is no exception.  It is a fun slash horrible summer show with sometimes awesome people but most of the time crass asses.  And they're all psycho crazies!  Having supposedly gone through psych tests too.

Ivette, I hated.  I hated what she said about Kaysar, her being in the Nerd Herd, her love for Cappy (Eric, fireman) and her take of who the "good people" were.  I think she said something about lesbians too, in a bad way, but I don't remember too clearly so don't hold me to it.

This "Soulmates" edition is crazy too.  They all suck and these supposed "soulmates" don't even really like eachother.  Joshuah is horrible especially what he said about Amanda's father.  Way out of line.  And the fake lesbian story is laughable.  I don't see how that will last (the story) when Ryan is free for Allison to fawn all over.

I didn't know about the thing with Kaysar...

...Because that would've changed my whole view on her. (Kaysar was one of my faves!) I liked that she was taking all kinds of stuff and making Slip-N-Slides and stuff with it. But why would she say something negative about lesbians, the whole thing with her and Beau was that they were gay best friends from Miami, right?

I agree he went overboard, but I still sort of like Joshuah. Did you notice that everything else he said, Amanda just sort of stood there repeating the same thing, like she didn't know how she was supposed to respond, and then finally when he made that last comment she reacted in a way that made sense? It was just really bizzare.

Ivette, Joshuah

Um, I think Ivette said something about how she didn't look like a "lesbian" because she was girly.  She likes to gets pampered and not look like a dude.  I don't really remember.  I don't think it was that offensive, I just remember thinking "Wtf? Great, stereotype."

The whole blow up with Joshuah came out of nowhere.  He just started jumping up and calling Amanda ugly and saying that no one like her.  It was so weird and creepy.  And I read that him and Allison were re-enacting Amanda's dad hanging himself and making fun of it.  That's low.

I don't why I'm so surprised with the level of craziness though.  It's like there's something in the water.  Most contestants who go into the house end up crazy.

i  like this twist. First that stupid couple couldn't even keep their secret for one week.  They blew it.  That was fun.

the girls pretending to be in a relationship...i was laughing my ass off.  That is a really stupid idea..but funny.

i'm just pissed they had to kick parker off.  but his partner was stupid.
